Chapter 183 Grant's Anger

Kevin spent half an hour tracking down where Marlowe was. He hesitated a bit before finally getting the guts to say, "Mr. Scott, maybe you should check your Facebook messages first?"

Kevin had been on a business trip abroad with Grant recently, and he was so swamped that he barely had time to hit the restroom, let alone check his personal phone messages.

He was crazy busy, and Grant? Well, he wasn't exactly a fan of checking his phone anyway.

It wasn't until he got a call from Grant that he noticed a message from Marlowe on his personal phone, dated the morning after they left for the trip.

Marlowe: [Kevin, please tell Grant to check his Facebook messages. But I doubt he has the time. If not, you can tell him that I want a divorce. I voluntarily give up all property. I've already signed the divorce papers, and they're in the nightstand drawer in the master bedroom. Thanks.]

He was totally floored at the time.

There had been zero signs.

Marlowe was pretty gutsy, using Grant's business trip to pull off this runaway divorce incident.

At that moment, Grant had just finished reading Marlowe's message on Facebook, which was super blunt and clear.

Marlowe: [I've signed the divorce papers. They're in the bedroom. Remember to sign them when you get back and have Kevin contact me.]

Grant's cold eyes were glued to that sentence, and a wave of inexplicable anger surged inside him.

Well played, Marlowe!

Kevin and David gulped hard. Right then, Grant looked like a devil, radiating a chilling vibe, making him super dangerous.

"Go, bring the papers down!" Grant barked.

His voice sounded like it came straight from hell.

David, clueless about what was going on, was about to ask what to bring when Kevin whispered in his ear. David's eyes widened in shock. If he weren't in good health, he might've fainted from fright. Without wasting a second, David turned and went upstairs to get the papers.

In no time, David placed the divorce papers on the coffee table.

David never expected Marlowe to pull something like this.

Grant looked at the neatly written signature and felt a murderous urge towards Marlowe. Who gave her the guts to bring up divorce? Without his say-so, she wasn't going anywhere!

David watched as Grant seemed to be trying to burn a hole through the paper with his stare.

"Where is she now?" Grant asked.

Kevin nervously replied, "Mr. Scott, she's in Rihegde."

David, worried that Grant might storm off in anger and scare Marlowe, said, "Mrs. Scott is probably just feeling cooped up and wanted to get out for a bit. If you go to her, talk to her nicely. Don't scare her."

In the whole villa, only David would stick up for Marlowe a little.

He actually thought Marlowe was pretty cool.

In Rihegde, Marlowe had taken Lila and Victoria out for dinner.

The three of them were having a blast.

By the time they wrapped up, it was eight o'clock, and everyone went their separate ways.

Lila and Marlowe were heading in the same direction, so they decided to head back together.

Downstairs at North Courtyard.

Before hopping out of the car, Marlowe remembered something. "Hey, Lila, I made some cake yesterday. Want to take some home? I can't finish it all by myself."

Lila was all in. "Sure, I'll come up with you to grab it. Saves you a trip."

Marlowe grinned. "Cool."

They were chatting and laughing as they went upstairs. Marlowe punched in the code and opened the door, only to find the lights already on inside.

Lila asked, "Marlowe, did you forget to turn off the lights when you left?"

Marlowe was puzzled. She was pretty sure she turned them off. Could she have forgotten?

Given the high security of the place, a break-in seemed unlikely.

Plus, nothing looked out of place.

"Maybe I was in too much of a rush this morning and forgot," Marlowe said as she changed her shoes.

Lila walked into the living room. "Marlowe, I remember you can drive. How about we go car shopping one day when you're free, so you can..."

Lila stopped mid-sentence, her eyes widening as she saw Grant sitting on the couch with a dark expression.

"Grant," Lila said, surprised.

Marlowe, who was right behind her, froze when she heard Lila. She looked up and locked eyes with Grant's deep, dark stare.

What the hell was he doing here?

Lila swallowed hard. Grant looked terrifying, radiating a dangerous vibe that made her feel like he could snap at any moment.

She was about to ask why he was there when she met his cold gaze.

"What? Planning to stay here tonight?" Grant's thin lips moved, his voice icy as hell.

Lila was momentarily stunned before realizing he was talking to her. She felt that if she didn't leave now, there'd be trouble.

She awkwardly smiled. "Grant, I have my own place. I won't bother you two."

She turned and gave Marlowe a helpless look, whispering, "Marlowe, take care." With that, she quickly bailed.

Marlowe's mouth twitched a few times.

Had she just been ditched?

Lila was scared, and Marlowe was even more freaked out. Grant seemed more terrifying than ever, making her feel like her feet were glued to the floor.

After a long, awkward silence, neither of them spoke or moved.

Marlowe finally asked, somewhat foolishly, "Are you planning to stay here tonight?"

Grant's face stayed dark, and he didn't answer her.

She continued, "Then I'll leave. You can have the place."

Without waiting for Grant's response, she turned and headed for the door.

She had just taken a step when she heard Grant's voice from behind. "If you dare step out that door, I'll break your legs!"
