Chapter 90 Alexander's Phone Wallpaper
When Clara posted on Instagram, it blew up. People started questioning, "Who's the real two-faced one, Clara or Victoria?" Most of the skeptics were Clara's fans, with a few gossip lovers thrown in.
Some folks sensed more drama coming, so they just watched the fan wars unfold.
The blogger who started it all stayed silent, acting like nothing happened.
Meanwhile, at Super Media, a mysterious magazine company downtown with just six employees, things were different. They didn't report news; they exposed the rich and powerful. No one messed with them because their backers were untouchable. Rumor had it that a wealthy family disappeared from Ridgewood after threatening the magazine.
Michael Russell, sitting at his computer, turned to Andrew Cox on the sofa. "Andrew, should I dig up some dirt on her?"
Andrew, looking lazy but alert, said, "No."
Michael was confused. This wasn't like Andrew, especially since he took this job for free.
"Why are you being so generous this time?" Michael asked. Andrew sat up, his enchanting face mesmerizing as always.
"Have you ever seen someone ask a shareholder for money?" Andrew replied.
Michael went silent. So, it was a shareholder. Super Media had a mysterious shareholder who never showed up in public.
Meanwhile, Victoria looked at the screenshot Lila sent and was surprised Clara responded so quickly.
Alexander, squinting at the photo, asked, "When did you take a photo with her?"
Victoria looked at the photo and shook her head. "I don't remember."
Alexander, sounding a bit annoyed, said, "I haven't even taken a photo with you."
Victoria thought of the photo album at Howard Villa. "You held me when I was a kid, so you beat her."
Alexander went silent, then took a few photos with her. Both were very photogenic, even in casual shots. He picked one as his wallpaper.
He changed it right in front of her, and she was shocked to see his old wallpaper was her childhood photo.
She couldn't describe the feeling.
Since they got together, she never touched his phone, not out of habit.
Alexander, looking at his new wallpaper, smiled contentedly.
"What’s it like looking at my childhood photo every day?" she asked.
Putting away his phone, Alexander looked at her seriously. "I want to raise a daughter who looks just like you."
Victoria went silent.
He leaned in, his lips curling, eyebrows raised, eyes filled with allure. "I want to have a daughter with you."
Victoria felt like she had bitten her tongue. She shouldn't have asked that question.
Alexander was too direct, leaving her speechless and her mind blank.
She quickly changed the subject, nervously saying, "I'll go check on Ignatius."
She bolted from the sofa and hurried to the movie room.
Alexander watched her flustered, shy figure disappear, smiling indulgently.
Victoria was still too shy. What should he do about that?
Just then, his phone rang.
"Mr. Howard, we detected someone from Scarlet Portal in Ridgewood an hour ago, but they vanished before we could trace them," the caller reported.
Alexander replied calmly, "I knew it."
The caller paused, confused by Alexander's response.
"But the system shows it wasn't Zing, probably another member. We have no specific info on who it is. Also, about the firewall at Vertex Holdings Group, we are stuck. The firewall is unlike anything we've seen, probably a new program. We suspect it might be Zing's work, as his systems are the toughest to crack. But Zing's all about the money and wouldn't help without a big payday," the caller added.
This puzzled Alexander too.
"If there's no result, leave it for now. Keep looking for Zing; time is running out," Alexander instructed.
"Got it," the caller replied.
After hanging up, Alexander's mind replayed the scene of Victoria using the computer in his office. He never expected her to know hacking and be linked to Scarlet Portal. She had many secrets, including her four-year disappearance, which suggested someone helped cover her tracks.
Neither of them went to the office all day.
Alexander worked from home. Victoria suggested he go back to the office, but he refused, saying he was worried about her. She fell silent, understanding his concern, and went to help Ignatius practice a new piece.
In the evening, they planned to dine at Starlight Diner.
Victoria invited Lila, who was with Owen, so they came together.
Victoria waited at the entrance with Ignatius while Alexander parked the car. Coincidentally, she ran into Caleb and Garrett.
Caleb, hands in his pockets, walked over. "Victoria? Why are you here alone? Where's Alexander?"
"He went to park the car," Victoria replied, surprised to see them.
Garrett glanced at Ignatius. "Who's he?"
Ignatius instinctively grabbed Victoria's hand and moved closer.
Caleb and Garrett quickly noticed Ignatius's odd behavior.
Victoria gently patted his arm. "Don't be afraid, they're my friends."
The two were surprised by her tone, as if she were coaxing a child. Ignatius, despite being about 5.9 feet tall, needed coaxing?
Ignatius looked at the elegantly dressed Caleb and Garrett and obediently greeted them.
Alexander, having just parked the car, witnessed this scene.
He was now 100% sure Ignatius had ignored him on purpose that morning.
"Ignatius, now you know what politeness is. Why weren't you this polite when you ignored me this morning?" Alexander's cold voice cut through the air.
