Chapter 277 Thank You for Your Blatant Favoritism

Victoria's face got more serious, her eyebrows knitting together.

Alfonso was half-sitting on the couch, leaning forward with his elbows on his knees and his hands clasped. He looked at her and said, "We actually stumbled upon this by accident."

"It's such a coincidence," Alfonso continued. "We tracked these two people and found on surveillance that wherever they went, you showed up too. Even on your last trip to Country M. Different flights, same destination, and your paths abroad were identical."

Sure, it could be called a coincidence. Once, twice, three times, maybe. But when it kept happening, it was not just a coincidence anymore.

Victoria wasn't shocked by what she was reading. She'd known for a while that someone was tailing her, but what threw her off was that these were Esme's people.

She had looked into it before but found no link between these folks and Esme. So how did Alfonso figure it out?

She suddenly looked up at him, puzzled and a bit distrustful, "Why are you so sure they used to work for my mom?"

A flicker of emotion crossed Alfonso's eyes. "They admitted it themselves."

Hearing this, Victoria's frown deepened, and her expression got even more serious. Her clear almond eyes darkened, and her long lashes hid the glint in her eyes.

Now, not only did Alfonso think things were more complicated, but Victoria also felt like something that had been bugging her was slowly coming to light.

But why would they expose themselves?

For the first time, she felt really troubled, like everything was piling up at once, making her heart knot with frustration and physical discomfort.

When Alexander got home from work, he saw her lying half-asleep on the couch, looking pale. He was so startled that he dropped his coat and rushed over in a few big strides.

Dylan, who was right behind him, didn't see Victoria on the couch but was startled by Alexander's panicked reaction.

Alexander reached the couch and, without a word, scooped Victoria up. "Dylan, to the hospital!"

Dylan was about to pick up the coat when he heard the urgent command.

He looked up to see Alexander holding a sleeping Victoria. What the heck happened?

Before he could react, Victoria woke up.

She had been deep in thought and dozed off. She had just fallen asleep when she felt herself being lifted and heard Alexander's familiar voice.

She lazily opened her eyes to see Alexander's handsome face, now tense with worry and panic.

Alexander noticed Victoria stirring in his arms and looked down, their eyes meeting.

The panic in Alexander's eyes was still there, making her heart tremble. She knew that look; he only got that way when something happened to her.

She reached out and touched his cheek, trying to ease the tension in his face, and smiled, "No need for the hospital. I'm fine, just dozed off."

Dylan, hearing this, let out a sigh of relief. He'd been pretty freaked out.

But Alexander's expression didn't change. She had no idea how pale she looked.

Victoria could sense his worry and said consolingly again, "I'm really okay, just in a bit of back pain."

"Back pain?" Alexander quickly remembered today's date.

Since they started living together, he'd seen her suffer from dysmenorrhea once and had kept track of the timing ever since.

She had told him she always got back pain before her period.

He knew how much she suffered from it. He had even asked Owen privately how to help, but Owen had said that everyone's body was different, so there wasn't a one-size-fits-all solution. The best they could do was use heat packs or acupressure to ease the pain.

"Just give me a massage like you did before," Victoria said, leaning her head on his shoulder and whispering softly in his ear, with a hint of playfulness.

At this point, Dylan wisely left the room.

Half an hour later, Victoria said, stretching her arms after his massage, "I feel a lot better now. Let's go eat."

Victoria lay face down on the couch, holding his hand that was still massaging her acupressure points. She turned her head to look at Alexander beside her.

Without missing a beat, Alexander picked her up from the couch and carried her towards the dining room.

She didn't even have time to protest. But then she thought it was nice to let her legs take a break once in a while.

She looked at Alexander's profile, finding even the contours of his side face charming. She couldn't take her eyes off him and wanted to keep looking at him forever.

Victoria wrapped her arms around his shoulders and neck, leaned in slightly, and planted a kiss on his cheek. "Having you is wonderful. Thanks for always spoiling me."

Alexander tilted his head slightly, looking down at her. Victoria nestled in his arms, her eyes curved into a smile, sparkling like stars, more beautiful than any scenery he had ever seen.

His eyes also shone with a light. His sharpness was always directed outward; for her, there was only gentleness. "This lifetime of spoiling is all for you."

Victoria blinked her enchanting eyes and asked, "Really?"

Alexander answered without hesitation, "Of course."

Not far away, Sawyer and Molly watched this scene, feeling genuinely happy and sweet.

In the evening, Victoria took a hot bath and felt much better.

Then, she sat at her vanity, opened a drawer, and took out a syringe and a bottle of vitamin K.

Skillfully, she injected the liquid into her right arm.

She tossed the items into the trash can, and just as she did, her phone on the bed rang.

She picked it up, glanced at the caller ID, and neither answered nor hung up. She just tossed it back and left the master bedroom.
