Chapter 323 Be in Trouble

After Victoria hung up the phone, Luke turned to Leroy and asked, "Which Alexander was she just talking to?"

Leroy, knowing Victoria was married, rolled his eyes at Luke and said, "Relax, it's the one you're thinking of, the head of the Howard family." He then looked at Victoria in the driver's seat, raising his chin to indicate her. "This lady is the legitimate wife of the head of the Howard family."

Leroy's words hit Luke like a punch, leaving his ears buzzing and ringing. Luke trembled slightly and murmured, "But, that person said she is just a minor branch member of the Howard family."

Luke looked up. In the dim light, sweat beaded on his forehead and trickled down his cheeks. It was uncertain whether his reaction stemmed from pain or the fear of offending the wrong person.

He stared at Victoria's profile, growing more anxious the longer he looked, because he suddenly recalled that she had addressed his boss by his first name.

"Idiot, it's so obvious you've been tricked, and you still don't get it?" Leroy looked at his cowardly appearance with disdain and mocked, "Aren't you guys known for 'valuing money over people'? Why are you so scared now? Before taking a job, don't you check its authenticity? How could you be so stupid!"

Leroy and Eric had been following Victoria, and when they were briefly stopped, they realized these people were from the black market. So Leroy did a quick check and found out that these people were under Logan, the second-in-command of the black market.

Logan's people had a characteristic. When they took jobs, they valued money above all else. But there were always times when they got into trouble, like this time. And this time, the trouble they faced was truly intractable.

"Tell me, where are the other two people you kidnapped?" Leroy took the opportunity to ask.

Luke was genuinely scared now. The more stubborn he had been earlier, the more terrified he was now that he knew Victoria's true identity.

"Maybe, it's too late." Luke glanced at the time on the dashboard and stammered.

Upon hearing this, Victoria frowned slightly. She stared straight ahead, her face giving nothing away, but her voice revealed everything.

Her cold voice echoed in the dim car, as if the crisp, soft voice from earlier wasn't hers. "What do you mean? Explain clearly!"

Luke didn't dare to hide anything now and spilled everything. "That person told us to ambush you in the tunnel, then take you out through the other side and stage a car accident. Every day at 4:50 PM, a large truck passes by the other road at the tunnel exit. He told us to park a car in the middle and put you on it, and that's it. The rest is none of our business."

Victoria quickly glanced at the time. It was exactly 4:41 PM, nine minutes left.

According to Luke, the passing truck might have been arranged by someone, using this time as an excuse. In other words, whether Victoria was put on that car or not, the car would be hit.

"Call your people and tell them to release the hostages!" Victoria said coldly.

Leroy immediately took out his phone and handed it to him. "Call!"

Luke, trembling, took the phone and dialed a number. Seeing his uneasy expression, Leroy asked, "What's wrong?"

"It's turned off," Luke said.

"What about the others?" Leroy asked.

"Except for the leader, the others don't carry communication devices, not even walkie-talkies," Luke explained, trembling.

Victoria's delicate face turned grim, her eyes slightly narrowed, her grip on the steering wheel tightened, and her foot pressed the gas pedal to the maximum. At this moment, Victoria wished she had wings to fly.

Meanwhile, Gideon was ordered to watch over Christopher, but when he arrived at Christopher's villa, there were only servants. No, there was also a man dressed in Christopher's clothes, similar in build, sitting in the study.

"Where's Christopher?" Gideon kicked the man hard, and he fell to the ground instantly.

The man, enduring the pain in his chest, said, "I don't know. The master just told me to sit here and not move until he returns."

Gideon gritted his teeth and cursed. It seemed Christopher had already sensed someone was watching him, so he used the substitution trick. He immediately called Alexander. "Christopher ran away."

Alexander's voice was cold. "Find him! Dead or alive!"

Gideon replied, "Got it."

At this moment, in a room in an underground garage, Christopher was sitting, watching several monitors with great interest.

One of the screens showed Gideon arriving at his villa. After entering with a few people, they came out shortly after.

Another screen displayed the inside of a car, and the person sitting there was none other than Saskia. Saskia's hands and feet were bound, and her mouth was sealed with black tape. Apart from looking a bit disheveled, Saskia showed hardly any emotion. Christopher watched and gave a cold, sinister smile. He had kidnapped Saskia not to threaten Victoria, but because Christopher wanted Alexander to lose the two most important women who had ever been in his life.

Once a person had vulnerabilities, it was easy to break their heart. Even if Christopher couldn't ultimately take over the Howard family, he would never let Alexander live a peaceful and happy life. He wanted Alexander to live in regret.

Since Alexander could always dominate everything, Christopher wanted him to experience firsthand that there would be a day when even he was helpless. Christopher had always been secretly competing with Alexander, not just to seize control of the Howard family, but because Christopher was unwilling to accept that he was as capable as Alexander, yet Nathan had handed the Howard family over to Alexander alone.

In this modern era, Nathan still followed the outdated rule that only the eldest son could inherit the Howard family. Christopher was rebellious towards it.

He thought indignantly, 'Why is it that Alexander was born to inherit the headship of the Howard family? Why does he get to be admired by everyone, while I can only live in his shadow, destined to be a mere foil?'

So, from a young age, Christopher competed with Alexander in everything. Whatever Alexander could do, Christopher could do too, and he even thought he was as capable as Alexander.

After all, many people said that Christopher was the most capable and powerful person in the Howard family, second only to Alexander. But Christopher was not satisfied; he wanted to surpass Alexander.

Even when Christopher accidentally discovered he wasn't Keith's son and wasn't related by blood to the Howard family, he didn't give up his determination to defeat Alexander. Instead, his desire to replace Alexander grew stronger.

At 4:45 PM, a black G-Wagon burst out of the tunnel, and the dim car interior instantly brightened. The people Luke had stationed outside the tunnel entrance were nowhere to be seen.

This scene was also displayed on the monitor in front of Christopher. Christopher knew Victoria was not simple when the camera clearly showed her in the driver's seat of the black G-Wagon.

Fortunately, Christopher had a backup plan. The people Luke had stationed outside the tunnel had long been replaced by Christopher's men. And the location originally given to Luke to stage the car accident had also changed.

Victoria stopped the car, and Leroy glanced around before saying to Luke, "There's no one here, no car either. Are you kidding us?"

Luke also looked out the window and was confused. "No, according to the original plan, my people should be here, and the car should be 160 feet ahead."

Victoria's face darkened as she turned to glare at Luke, her eyes sharp and domineering. "You better tell me the truth, or I'll shoot you right now!"

Facing her murderous and fierce gaze, a shiver ran up Luke's spine, and for a moment, he was suffocated. Those eyes were terrifying, like a lion ready to pounce and tear him apart. "I'm telling the truth," Luke stammered, trembling with fear.

Victoria's face remained tense, and just as she was about to ask more questions, she noticed her phone, which she had thrown onto the passenger seat, light up with a new message.

Without unlocking it, Victoria could already see part of the message: [The person you're looking for is in the middle of the road 6,500 feet ahead.]

Victoria quickly picked up the phone and opened it. Another message came in, this time with a picture: [The person you're looking for is in the middle of the road 6,500 feet ahead. You have three minutes left; you might make it in time. Good luck.] The picture showed Saskia sitting in the car.

"Get out!" Victoria shouted. Leroy moved quickly, immediately opening the door and dragging Luke out. As soon as the door closed, Victoria's car took off like a rocket.
