Chapter 274 The Resolution of Victoria's Matter

Victoria shot Ellington a calm look and said, "I'll handle it myself. Easier if they just come to me."

Ellington's eyes widened in disbelief. Victoria was playing hardball, using herself as leverage.

She gave him a once-over, not rushing, clearly confident he'd help her out. She leaned back on the couch, waiting for his response. No one else could find Organization 103's base like he could. That was why she came to him, even though it wasn't exactly a friendly visit.

Sophia stood by, silently counting down from thirty in her head.

Sure enough, after thirty seconds, Ellington caved. He let out a cold laugh, "Alright, I'll help you find it."

Sophia smirked, "Who said begging wouldn't work? Victoria didn't even beg, and you folded. How predictable!"

Victoria's face, usually a blank slate, showed a hint of a smile, "Great, I'll wait for your update."

Ellington went quiet. He knew she was setting him up, but he walked right into it.

Finally, he said, "I can't promise the person you want to save will still be alive when I find him."

Victoria didn't seem worried, "They won't kill him as long as they haven't found me."

With that, he had nothing left to argue.

"Stay and have a meal with me," he offered.

Victoria checked the time, "Not today. I've got things to do."

Ellington frowned, "You ask for my help and now you can't even stay for a meal? That's cold."

Victoria raised an eyebrow, "If I were really cold, it wouldn't have just been water earlier."

Ellington didn't reply, but Sophia jumped in, "What would it have been then?"

Victoria squinted, "A foot in his face."

Sophia laughed and gave her a thumbs-up.

Ellington's mouth twitched. 'Should I be grateful for your mercy?'

As they walked to the club's entrance, Ellington still looked annoyed, "Why the rush? No time for a meal?"

Victoria shrugged, "I have time, but tonight I need to have dinner with my fiance."

Ellington froze, his mind blank. 'Fiance?'

Victoria ignored him and got into her car. She wasn't hiding her marriage; they'd be invited to the wedding anyway.

Ellington watched the black Mercedes drive off, then turned to Sophia, "What did she just say?"

Sophia smirked and repeated Victoria's words.

Ellington's face darkened, anger flashing in his eyes.

Sophia wisely stepped back and headed back into the club.

Ellington's crush on Victoria was a well-kept secret, but Sophia knew. He'd never confessed, and she didn't know why.

He always wore an earring in his right ear, but it changed to an '8' after meeting Victoria, the number of letters in her name. Most people wouldn't catch the significance.

For someone as ruthless as him, only Victoria could make him soft, make him compromise. If that wasn't love, what was?

But to Victoria, he was just a friend, a brother.

From the moment Sophia met Victoria, she knew she was married. The ring on her finger was a dead giveaway, but Ellington never noticed.
