Chapter 256 Divorced Again?

Grant was Caspian's youngest son, and also his most impressive one.

He mainly operated in Jakarda City, not Rihegde, but everyone knew him. In all of Stellaria, aside from Alexander, he was the most brutal in business.

Right now, standing next to him was a tall, elegant, beautiful woman.

People wondered in spite of themselves, 'Is this his wife?'

Five years ago, Grant, one of the most sought-after men in Stellaria, suddenly announced he was getting married, but no one ever saw the wedding.

And in the past five years, he had been mostly seen alone wherever he went.

For parties, he did have a regular female companion, but it wasn't this woman.

His female companion at that time was way more beautiful and had a much more elegant vibe.

Today was Caspian's birthday bash, not just any party, so Grant wouldn't just bring a random stranger. This woman had to be Grant's mysterious wife.

Even though Michelle didn't come from a rich family, she had been to many parties since her career took off and loved the attention, but this time was different.

This was a real high-society event, with people from wealthy families, way above what she was used to.

The looks of scrutiny, envy, and admiration followed her, feeding her deep-seated vanity.

Today, she was dressed simply and ladylike, in a light blue evening gown, and standing next to the powerful Grant, she looked noble and dignified.

Once inside, Michelle instinctively held her head high, her face full of confidence, like she had always been part of high society.

"Holy crap!" Caleb muttered under his breath.

A few days ago, they had asked in the group, and Grant had said he would bring someone back for Caspian's birthday bash.

Caleb was speechless and puzzled. "I thought he had moved on and would bring Marlowe back. Who the heck is this woman? What's he up to?"

The others just watched in silence.

Victoria instinctively frowned. 'Has Marlowe managed to get divorced? But Philip hasn't told me anything.'

Sitting next to her, Alexander noticed her slight frown and asked, "What's wrong?"

She turned slightly to look at him, her red lips parting slightly as she said softly, "A few days ago, Marlowe asked me for a lawyer, and I had Philip handle it."

"What does Marlowe need a lawyer for?" Caleb asked.

Garrett rolled his eyes at him, "Do you even need to ask?"

Caleb raised an eyebrow, "Divorcing again?"

Everyone knew about the time Marlowe left a divorce agreement for Grant and ran to Rihegde.

But no one expected Marlowe to have the guts to bring it up a second time.

As for what Grant was trying to do, no one knew.

On the other side, Caspian glanced at Michelle standing next to Grant, his face darkening. He didn't want to be laughed at by outsiders, so he went to the lounge.

"Grant, I told you to bring your wife back. Are you crazy? Are you openly declaring you're having an affair?" Caspian sternly rebuked, clenching his fists on his knees, his eyes filled with anger and dissatisfaction.

Grant pressed his thin lips together, saying nothing.

Indeed, Caspian had called Grant before, repeatedly reminding him to bring Marlowe back for his 80th birthday bash.

But Marlowe had once again asked for a divorce, and this time she was dead set on it, ignoring his any attempts to talk her out of it. They were currently giving each other the cold shoulder.

After Caspian's scolding, Michelle's newfound confidence took a nosedive. She clutched her bag tightly, her head bowed in embarrassment and shame. She was tense and humiliated, and the congratulatory words she had prepared in her mind had vanished.

Yesterday, Grant had suddenly contacted her, asking her to accompany him to a banquet, and she had readily agreed.

She hadn't thought much of it, assuming it was just another business event. When she found out it was Caspian's birthday bash, she was super excited and happy.

Grant's move made her think he was interested in her and was bringing her to meet his family, but she hadn't expected Caspian to have such a bad temper.

"Dad, you can scold me all you want, but she is a woman after all," Grant, who had been silent, finally spoke. His voice was incredibly pleasant and magnetic, giving Michelle a sense of security.

Michelle's heart pounded wildly, and her fallen confidence slowly began to rise again.

She secretly glanced at the mature, dignified Grant beside her, and a glimmer of hope rekindled in her heart. As long as he defended her, it was enough.

Caspian and the Scott family members looked puzzled and surprised at Grant's words.

Caspian frowned. He knew Grant well; Grant never defended anyone. But today, he was standing up for Michelle, which Caspian couldn't understand.

What did Grant mean? Grant had married Marlowe secretly, without a wedding, and hadn't even brought her home.

This time, he had brought Michelle back.

Lila received Caspian's order to bring Marlowe over.

So after leaving the apartment, Lila went straight to pick up Marlowe.

At first, Marlowe didn't want to come, mainly because she felt awkward and would be uncomfortable, but Caspian had personally called her, and she couldn't let him down, especially on his birthday.

Before marrying Grant, she often went to the Scott Villa to play chess with Caspian. Her father, who had been Caspian's student, often took her to the Scott Villa, so she was familiar with it.

But unexpectedly, as soon as they arrived, they heard Caspian and Grant's conversation.

After she listened to Grant defending Michelle, Marlowe's eyes twinkled with mockery, mostly at herself. She had truly failed, unable to win his heart in five years.

Marlowe let out a cold laugh in her heart. 'He married me out of spite; how could he possibly have feelings for me?'

Lila, holding her arm, saw her face turn pale and sighed inwardly, feeling sorry for her. If she had known, she would have driven slower on their way here.

"Marlowe, should I take you back?" Lila asked, since no one had noticed their arrival.

Marlowe took a deep breath, smiled at her, and said, "Since I'm here, it would be disrespectful to break my promise."

Knowing Lila was worried about her, Marlowe continued to reassure her. "I'm fine. Don't worry." Then Marlowe placed her hand on her belly. "For the sake of this child, I'll be fine."

In just a few days, Lila felt Marlowe had changed a great deal.

She had become more resilient, with a kind of soft strength.

It seemed becoming mother truly made a woman stronger.

Lila boomed, "Grandpa, I brought Marlowe."

Lila walked in with Marlowe, her face playful as if she had just arrived.

Grant, with his back to the door, instinctively stiffened.
