Chapter 363 I'm Not Short on Money

"Does he know I'm here?" she murmured.

Garrett naturally knew that "he" referred to Alexander.

"Yes, he knows. I told Alexander," Garrett said truthfully. He didn't want any misunderstandings between the couple. "I asked Alexander to come, but he refused. He said he wouldn't interfere with your social circle."

Victoria believed him. Alexander had always given her freedom and trust.

While he could get jealous, he knew when to let it show and when to hold back, striking the perfect balance.

Garrett looked at the two of them, curiosity shining in his dark eyes. "Victoria, I'm really curious. How did you meet him?"

Since they had run into each other, Victoria had nothing to hide.

But just as she was about to speak, Thomas interrupted with a sarcastic tone, "Mr. Martinez, are you jealous? When Victoria met me, you were probably still hiding out somewhere, unnoticed."

Everyone else was speechless.

It was the first time Betty had seen Thomas speak so sarcastically and childishly, and even Victoria thought the same.

"You two know each other? Got some history?" Victoria looked back and forth between them, puzzled. That was the only explanation she could think of.

Otherwise, with Thomas's personality, he wouldn't be so sarcastic at a first meeting.

Thomas admitted readily, "More than just history; it's something no decent person would do."

Now Victoria was more curious.

But she had other important things to do, so she decided to learn about the rumors later.

She said, "Since you two have met, catch up. I have things to do, so I'll be going."

Thomas and Garrett thought Victoria would at least ask about their history or try to mediate to prevent a fight.

Victoria called Kimberly and walked out.

Thomas shouted from behind, "Vicky, aren't you afraid we'll fight?"

Victoria didn't even turn her head and replied, "Just have Betty prepare an ambulance for you."

Everyone fell silent again.

As soon as Victoria left, Lyle appeared.

Seeing the two big shots in front of him, Lyle instantly wanted to flee. He didn't even know why he had come out.

Garrett looked at him and asked indifferently, "Have you made up your mind?"

Lyle started sweating. He glanced at Thomas, who wasn't looking at him.

He had no choice but to say, "Mr. Martinez, please don't make it difficult for me. Fifty percent of the shares are too much. I can't give you that."

Garrett didn't care and threatened, "Then bring out someone who can! Otherwise, I'll smash this place today!"

As he spoke, he looked at Thomas.

Lyle's earlier glance at Thomas had been unusual, making Garrett suspicious.

At the moment, Lyle was sweating profusely.

Victoria had already left the Royal Flush Resort to find Tilly at the hotel.

Tomorrow was the perfume contest, and Victoria had something to discuss with her.

She didn't want to be confused tomorrow.

"What did you say?" Tilly was visibly upset after hearing her. "Oh my God, someone did something so disgusting right under my nose. I've never encountered such a contestant. This is a disgrace to our perfume field. Such a person doesn't deserve to compete. I'm calling right now to have her disqualified."

Seeing Tilly so angry and about to make the call, Victoria immediately stopped her.

"Wait, don't be mad. If you disqualify her now, how will I watch the show tomorrow?"

Tilly was just about to say something when Victoria interrupted her, "I'm just giving you a heads-up so you won't be confused on the spot."

"But don't worry, the competition process will be normal." Victoria whispered a few words into Tilly's ear, and Tilly calmed down after hearing them.

"Alright, let's do it your way," Tilly said. "With me here, you just do what you need to do. If anything happens, I'll cover for you."

Tilly thought for a moment and added, "Actually, you don't even need me to cover for you; no one would dare mess with you."

Victoria knew Tilly had a lot to handle, so she didn't stay long and left after a short while.

"Mrs. Howard, heading home?" Kimberly asked.

Victoria thought for a moment and said, "Let's go to Meadowview Villa."

Kimberly didn't ask further questions and started the car, leaving the hotel parking lot.

Halfway there, Kimberly sensed something was off. "Mrs. Howard, it looks like a car is following us."

Victoria, who had been resting with her eyes closed, opened them and glanced at the rearview mirror.

"Shake them off!" Victoria said. "I trust your driving skills."

"Mrs. Howard, could it be someone sent by Mr. Howard?" Kimberly asked.

Victoria turned to her and asked, "When did you first notice someone following us?"

"Just now," Kimberly replied.

"Exactly. If it were someone sent by him, they wouldn't have started following us just now, and you wouldn't have just noticed. It's clearly a temporary tail."

Kimberly understood.

Victoria closed her eyes again to rest, having a good idea of who it might be.

Since the incident at Nine Heavens Bridge, Leroy and Eric hadn't shown up again.

And ever since Victoria found out her mother was still alive, she had been avoiding the situation, not taking the step to see Esme.

Esme hadn't come to see Victoria either.

It was as if they were in a standoff, both afraid of the other's reaction.

Thinking about it made Victoria a bit agitated, so she decided to stop thinking about it.

Kimberly didn't disappoint Victoria's trust; twenty minutes later, she had lost the tail.

"Mr. Scott, we lost them," Kevin said, with a hint of fear in his voice.

Grant closed his eyes, swallowing his anger and feeling extremely frustrated. "What's the point of keeping you around!"

Kevin was too scared to speak.

He thought if Marlowe didn't show up soon, Grant might go crazy.

Even though they were in the same city, it had been over two months and they still couldn't find her..

Victoria was dozing off when her phone rang in her pocket.

She took a moment to pull out her phone and hesitated when she saw the caller ID.

She hesitated for a moment, but eventually answered, "Hello, Grant, are you looking for Alexander? I'm at home right now, not with him."

She spoke earnestly, preempting the conversation.

On the other end, Grant knew Victoria was doing it on purpose, always using Alexander as a shield.

Grant pinched the bridge of his nose, took a deep breath, and said through gritted teeth, "I'm looking for you!"

Victoria ignored him and said, "I don't think we have any business dealings."

"How could we not?" Grant replied.

She countered, "What makes you say that, Grant?"

They went back and forth, seemingly aimless, yet subtly challenging each other.

Grant said, "I know you're smart, Victoria. This cat-and-mouse game is pointless. How about we make a bet? If you win, I'll stop bothering you. If you lose, you tell me where Marlowe is."

Victoria hadn't expected Grant to propose this.

"What are we betting on?" Victoria wasn't one to easily compromise. After all, she had promised Marlowe and couldn't go back on her word. "Grant, you go first. I'll consider it. Whether you bother me or not doesn't matter to me; I'm not afraid of being bothered."

Grant knew Victoria wouldn't agree easily. "If you win, I'll give you half of the Scott Group's shares!"

That was a big gamble.

"But Grant, I don't need money," Victoria replied.
