Chapter 221 Announced
After the flick, Alexander and Victoria hit up a Mexican joint in the mall.
Neither of them bothered checking their phones, so they were totally clueless about the online buzz.
HD pics of them holding hands as they walked in were blowing up, with folks going nuts hoping to bump into them.
[I wanna run into them!]
[Same here!]
[The restaurant owner should totally cash in on this.]
[They've never had this many customers since they opened.]
Dylan and Kimberly, still chilling in the car, didn't need any fancy tech to track Alexander and Victoria; netizens were doing it for them in real-time.
"Should we head up and wait? If a crowd shows up, things could get crazy," Kimberly muttered.
They stashed their phones and got out of the car.
Who would've thought a simple movie date would cause such a stir?
Inside, Alexander didn't bother with a private room and picked a booth instead.
He gently helped her with her coat and scarf, setting them aside.
She was gonna do it herself, but he insisted, so she let him.
To anyone watching, it seemed pretty normal; anyone who'd been in a relationship had seen this kind of thing.
But their good looks seemed to radiate some kind of magic, making onlookers wanna fall in love just by watching them. Victoria sat there, watching Alexander order, and he picked all her favorite dishes.
He'd gotten to know all her likes and quirks pretty well by now.
They said a woman could tell if a guy was into her by whether he remembered her preferences and accepted all her flaws.
Alexander had once told her to avoid Mexican food, saying the spicy stuff was bad for her stomach.
He said if she wanted it, he'd make it for her.
After ordering, he looked up to see Victoria staring at him. She moved her lips and asked, "What made you go for a movie date and Mexican food today?"
She asked because she knew that shopping, eating, and watching movies were typical couple activities.
Plus, she figured someone like Alexander wouldn't usually do these things.
She wasn't big on rituals; as long as they were together, she didn't care about following traditions.
Alexander poured her a glass of water. "Take a sip first."
She took a sip. Whenever she was with him, he always took care of her.
Just as she swallowed, she heard Alexander say, "We started our love story by getting married, so I wanna make up for the parts we missed. You should have everything others do, and then some. And what they lack, you'll have in spades, and then some more."
Victoria was floored by his sweet words, her face turning red and her heart racing.
Whenever he said stuff like that with a serious face, she couldn't help but blush.
The couple at the next table overheard.
The girl looked at her boyfriend and asked, "Why is it that when others say those words, they sound charming and heartwarming, but when you say them, they sound kinda cheesy?"
The boyfriend was quiet for a moment, then grinned. "If you can wait for me to get his power and wealth, I'll say them to you again."
The girl's mouth twitched.
She probably wouldn't wait for that in this lifetime.
After chowing down, Victoria and Alexander headed back to the car.
Dylan filled them in on the online frenzy their movie date and dinner had sparked.
Alexander whipped out his phone and scrolled through the pics of them. After checking out a few, he long-pressed one and saved it.
His deep voice filled the car. "No need to shut it down. As long as the comments aren't over the top, let it ride."
Dylan let out a sigh of relief. Good thing he hadn't jumped the gun. "Got it."
Then, as if something clicked, Alexander added, "Get the PR team to put out a statement."
Alexander didn't need to spell it out. Dylan, being his right-hand man for years, got the drift. "On it."
Five minutes later, Vertex Holdings Group's official Instagram posted: [Thanks to all the netizens for your attention to Mr. Howard and Mrs. Howard. We won't hog public resources; no need to over-focus.]
The post came with a side-profile pic of Alexander and Victoria chilling on a sofa. Alexander had one hand on his phone and the other around her. Victoria was leaning into him, both smiling at each other. The backdrop was a sunset through a floor-to-ceiling window, making the scene super romantic.
Alexander had sent the pic to Dylan, who then passed it to the PR team.
The official post made even the skeptics believe in their relationship.
Comments on the post blew up:
[OMG, they actually posted a pic from their home. Can we even see this?]
[They're such a perfect match.]
[My idol Victoria, only someone as awesome as Alexander deserves her.]
[Good looks, high IQ, Victoria is just perfect.]
[How could the CEO of Vertex Holdings Group fall for such a nasty woman who framed Clara and messed up her family?]
That comment was just asking for it.
[Or would Alexander fall for someone as ugly as you?]
[Looks like this person hasn't kept up with the news. Go back and watch the old videos]
[So many people in the world; there are bound to be one or two with low IQ.]
Victoria was cool with Alexander's move. She'd already agreed that once she sorted out her issues with the Kennedy family, he could go public with their relationship.
Today's netizen discovery was just perfect timing.
She just didn't expect him to use that particular photo.
Lila even teased Victoria in their group chat.
Lila: [Those eyes are so seductive.]
[Looking out the window, this was taken at the apartment in North Courtyard, right?]
[Girl, you were already in love back then, weren't you?]
Victoria stayed silent.
Over at the Kennedy Mansion.
Clara was fuming as she scrolled through the online comments and photos, her eyes burning with jealousy, her face twisted with rage. She wanted to wipe that blissful smile off Victoria's face right then and there.
Why should Victoria have all this? Why should she have the love of the noble Alexander? Clara couldn't stand it!
Because of Victoria, Clara was ignored by Lucas and constantly warned by Oliver to behave. If Clara weren't still somewhat useful and able to compete in the fragrance competition, Oliver would've probably ditched her.
Clara believed all of this was Victoria's fault. Victoria didn't deserve these honors, and she definitely didn't deserve a man as amazing and noble as Alexander.
Clara clenched her fists, glaring at the photos on her phone, gritting her teeth. "Victoria, just wait. I'm gonna destroy everything you have!"
