Chapter 289 Victoria's Help
The car rolled through an iron gate that stood a solid 6.5 feet tall.
In no time, it pulled up in a parking lot that was bigger than seven basketball courts.
But that wasn't the main thing. The main thing was the two helicopters parked not far away. Each one had a design of a woman holding scales.
Victoria thought it looked familiar, like she'd seen it somewhere before. Before she could remember, Alexander's deep, smooth voice broke her thoughts, "We're here. Get out."
Alexander had already alighted from the car and was standing by the door, his hand extended gracefully towards her.
Without a second thought, she took his hand.
Once out of the car, she took in her surroundings. This place didn't look like where regular folks lived, and it didn't look like a tourist spot.
It looked more like a secret base, with barbed wire fences that were probably electrified, and cameras everywhere.
She turned to Alexander, who was standing beside her with the light behind him, raised an eyebrow, and asked, "You're not really bringing me here to sell me, are you? This place doesn't scream ‘date spot.'"
Alexander gave her a helpless smile. Before he could answer, a few people walked up to them.
Caleb asked, "Alexander, why'd you bring Victoria here?"
Victoria turned and saw three familiar faces: Caleb, Garrett, and Gideon.
‘What's going on?' Victoria wondered, then greeted each of them.
Garrett and the others were here because they heard Alexander had found someone to fix the chip system, but now he'd brought Victoria.
"You're not gonna tell us Victoria is that person, are you?" Garrett asked.
Victoria was super confused. ‘Who is that person?' she wondered. She didn't even know why she was here.
Caleb saw Victoria's puzzled look and asked, "Victoria, you trust Alexander too much, don't you? He didn't even tell you where he was taking you, and you just followed him. Aren't you afraid he might sell you?"
Was this topic never going to end?
Alexander didn't bother with them and led Victoria inside, holding her hand.
As they walked, he said, "Do you remember the chip system I mentioned to you before?"
Victoria nodded. It was related to her, after all.
"Zing has been missing, and we can't wait any longer to fix the chip system," Alexander said.
His tone was low and serious, showing how urgent this was.
Victoria thought back to Caleb's words and suddenly stopped walking.
Alexander saw her stop and was about to speak, but Victoria beat him to it. "You're not expecting me to fix that, are you?"
Alexander nodded without hesitation.
She asked, "Aren't you afraid I'll mess it up?"
To most people, her hacking skills were nothing compared to the legendary Zing.
Alexander smiled, looking totally chill. "It's okay, not a big deal."
The others behind them were instantly dumbfounded, thinking, ‘What do you mean? If it's not a big deal, why did we spend so much money and time looking for Zing before? Do we have too much money? Alexander, please understand, that chip is very important! If the chip system is destroyed, all the data in Mystic Hall will leak, including some extremely important information that will vanish as well. The loss can't be measured in money, and we'll be in big trouble.'
Victoria was slightly stunned, knowing he didn't want to pressure her.
But she had another question. "Why are you so set on finding Zing?"
Caleb chimed in from behind, "In the whole hacking world, no one can fix it because they can't even figure out what's wrong with the chip."
Victoria went quiet, thinking, 'Is it really that complicated?'
"One more thing. You don't know who messed up the chip, do you?" Victoria asked.
If they knew Zing had damaged the chip, they wouldn't have asked her to fix it. Who would be dumb enough to ask the 'culprit' for help?
Caleb looked puzzled. "How did you know? It's weird; we haven't been able to find that person."
Victoria got it after hearing this. She turned back to Alexander, speaking modestly, "Alright, show me the chip. I'll do my best."
Alexander took her up to the sixth floor by elevator, then through several high-tech smart doors.
After about ten minutes, they reached a bright area where the only sound was the clacking of keyboards.
Straight ahead was a huge display screen with a 3D map on it, dotted with red points.
In front of each computer sat a person. At a glance, there were at least a hundred people, which was pretty impressive.
Everyone looked expressionless, their hands never stopping.
Before she could ask where this was, Caleb filled her in.
"Victoria, do you know where this is?" Caleb asked, then answered himself. "This is the headquarters of K Alliance, and the place you just arrived at is the secret base of Mystic Hall."
Mystic Hall? K Alliance? Victoria was momentarily stunned, thinking, 'Are they together? Mystic Hall is really tied to Alexander. And the rumored mysterious hacker group K Alliance, which can rival my Scarlet Portal, is actually Alexander's? What a twist!'
She had suspected that Mystic Hall was connected to Alexander. Thomas had told her before that people from Mystic Hall were looking for her, and the timing matched with Alexander looking for Zing.
But she never thought Alexander was also linked to K Alliance.
She maintained her composure remarkably well, showing only a slight hint of surprise, which was a natural reaction for any ordinary person.
Suddenly, she asked, "Isn't K Alliance known as the world's top hacker group? Why can't they fix the chip?"
Her question was just out of curiosity; she didn't mean to question their skills.
Everyone was instantly speechless, including Hades Obelon, who had just walked in. He was the head of K Alliance.
Caleb reacted quickly, laughing awkwardly, and explained weakly, "There are always exceptions."
Victoria didn't dwell on the question but looked at Alexander. "Provide me with a computer and a quiet room."
Alexander immediately gave a look to Hades. Hades got the message and went to make the arrangements.
Five minutes later, they arrived at a smaller room. Caleb and the others wanted to watch Victoria work, but she said she needed quiet. With a look from Alexander, everyone obediently left.
The room was now left with only Alexander and Victoria.
Victoria sat in front of the computer, still hesitating, trying to convince herself.
'It's okay, this doesn't count as breaking Scarlet Portal's rules. I'm helping as Victoria, as Alexander's wife,' she thought.
Alexander stood quietly by her side.
Suddenly, Victoria looked up at him, her eyes filled with a smile, which he didn't understand.
Alexander then asked, "What's up?"
