Chapter 63 Openly Admitting to Favoritism

Thalia quickly waved her hand. "Don't call me that. I can't stand it."

Elodie's face went pale, and Clara's "Grandma Davis" got stuck in her throat.

Simon looked upset and tried to reason with her. "Mom, it's been years. Can't you accept them?"

Thalia stayed calm. "Whether I accept them or not doesn't matter, as long as you do."

"And don't come see me anymore. I'm fine," Thalia said firmly. "And leave Victoria alone. It's me who doesn't want to see you."

She didn't even glance at Elodie, Clara, or Lucas.

She knew their character well, and only Simon and Oliver would believe what Elodie and Clara said.

"Let's go. Don't keep Alexander waiting," Thalia said, turning to Victoria with a kind smile.

She ignored Clara completely.

Seeing Clara's sad face, Lucas felt a pang and wanted to defend her. "Grandma Davis, Clara is your granddaughter too. Why are you so distant with her? It's not fair. Clara genuinely cares about you. Why are you playing favorites?"

Victoria shot him a cold glare. How dare he speak to Thalia like that?

Thalia gently patted Victoria's hand, signaling her to stay calm.

Thalia then looked at Lucas. Despite her age, she still looked radiant and spoke firmly. "Lucas, since Victoria broke off the engagement with you, you have no right to call me grandma. I can't take it either.

"Being biased? I don't deny it. I've only got one granddaughter, Victoria, and one grandson-in-law, Alexander."

Thalia's bluntness made Elodie and Clara feel both embarrassed and angry, but they had to swallow their feelings.

Lucas's face stiffened; he hadn't expected Thalia to be so firm.

"Mom, did you just say grandson-in-law? Is Victoria getting married?" Simon asked, catching the key info.

"That's none of your business. Focus on Clara," Thalia said bluntly.

Simon retorted, "Mom, marriage is a big deal. I'm her father; I have the right to know."

Thalia let out a cold laugh.

"You still remember you're her father? Look at what you've done all these years." Thalia got even angrier. She knew Simon just wanted to know if Victoria had married into the wealthy Kennedy family for benefits.

"Let's go!" Thalia said to Victoria.

Victoria helped Thalia past them and walked towards the black Maybach. Alexander and Mia followed behind.

The more Lucas looked at Alexander, the more he wanted to investigate.

That voice sounded familiar—like he'd heard it in a recorded interview somewhere. The interview was audio-only, no video.

Last time, Alexander drove a basic Cayenne, but now he had a limited-edition Maybach, which made Lucas suspicious.

Clara, who liked Lucas and shared his interest in cars, also recognized the Maybach as a limited edition worth over ten million dollars.

But Alexander owned one, so who was he really?

Why had she never heard of such a top-tier guy in their circle?

As the car drove away, Simon and the others felt like their visit was pointless and dispersed.

On the way back, Clara was sullen. The more she thought about what happened, the angrier she got, deepening her jealousy and hatred towards Victoria.

Lucas dropped her off at the Kennedy family home but didn't plan to get out.

"Clara, I'm sorry. I wanted to take you home, but my mom said it wasn't appropriate. You'll have to bear with it for now," Lucas said, feeling guilty.

Clara smiled understandingly. "Lucas, it's okay. I get it. She's protecting the Tudor family and you. Our relationship is a bit complicated right now, but I know you love me, and that's all that matters. As long as I'm with you, I don't feel wronged."

Seeing how considerate she was, Lucas felt even more guilty and wanted to give her the best. He only wished for such an understanding wife.

"Clara, you're the only one I love. Don't worry, we'll get married and have our own family and kids," Lucas said, holding her hand and looking at her affectionately.

Clara blushed and lowered her head. "Okay, I believe you, Lucas."

Seeing her shy demeanor, Lucas's desire surged. He reached out, pulled her into his arms, and kissed her.

Meanwhile, the black Maybach drove through the gates of Howard Villa.

Micah was already waiting at the door.

Victoria helped Thalia out of the car, and the butler greeted them.

"Welcome," Micah said with a respectful smile.

Thalia looked at him, sizing him up. "Micah?"

Micah smiled. "It's me. Didn't think you’d remember me."

"Of course. I used to come here often, and you always received me," Thalia said with a smile.

Micah said, "Mr. Howard is waiting for you inside. Let's go in."

Mia helped Thalia follow Micah into the courtyard.

Victoria and Alexander exchanged a glance behind them, clearly not surprised that Thalia and Micah were so familiar with each other.
