Chapter 252 I Want to Stay Here with You
Victoria got back to Serenity Grove Manor but didn't see Alexander around. Sawyer mentioned he hadn't returned yet.
She glanced at the clock in the living room; it was already 7:30 PM. He usually would have been back by now. She picked up her phone but saw no messages from him.
Raising an eyebrow, she quickly typed out a message.
Meanwhile, Alexander was still grinding away at the office, sitting at the head of the conference table. His handsome face was cold, and his piercing eyes had everyone on edge. No one dared to make a sound.
He wasn't happy with their project proposal. He had pointed out the issues earlier, but as the meeting dragged on, the tension in the room skyrocketed. Everyone felt like they were walking on eggshells.
Suddenly, the phone on the table in front of Alexander buzzed. With a stern face, he picked it up, casually unlocked it, and opened Facebook.
The people in the room glanced at him out of the corners of their eyes.
Usually, Alexander wouldn't bring his phone into meetings, let alone check it during one. No one knew when he had changed this habit.
Then it hit them—it started after Alexander got married.
Immediately, his cold face melted into a happy smile. The change was shocking.
It was clear the message was from Victoria. Only she could have that effect on him.
Alexander looked at the message from Victoria, which came along with a cute GIF.
Victoria: [Why aren't you back yet? Working overtime?]
His eyes softened, and a gentle smile curved his lips. His deep eyes sparkled like he had found a precious treasure.
Then he looked up at everyone, his expression instantly turning cold and stern again. "I'll give you one more chance! The company pays you to solve problems, not for me to solve them for you. If I don't see a satisfactory proposal in three days, you can process your resignation."
With that, Alexander swiftly got up and left the meeting room.
As soon as he left, everyone felt a sense of relief, but the next second, they tensed up again. They quickly gathered their things and left the meeting room, racing against time to revise their project reports.
Victoria's message had been sent for less than two minutes when her phone rang. She immediately answered, "Hey, honey."
Alexander's deep, magnetic voice came through. "Sorry, I lost track of time in the meeting."
Victoria chuckled and said, "You've worked hard. How about I give you a massage when you get back?"
Her laughter reached his ears, sweeping away the gloom in his heart.
Alexander laughed, too, joy bubbling up from his heart and spilling out through his voice, a smile playing on his lips. "Sure, I'll strip down for you to massage. Just don't back out at the last minute."
Victoria could hear the teasing tone in his sentences and grumbled, "Can you stop saying such inappropriate things?"
"What's inappropriate about it?" Alexander asked, pretending to be clueless.
Victoria didn't know why, but her face started to heat up just from his words.
"I'm not talking to you anymore. Come back soon. I'll have Molly prepare dinner, so you don't have to cook tonight." Victoria quickly changed the subject.
She then heard the sound of a car door closing and Alexander's "Okay."
After hanging up, she went to instruct Molly.
Returning to the living room, she pondered for a moment, then picked up her phone to search.
A few minutes later, she felt troubled. It turned out that preparing for pregnancy was so complicated.
Both of them needed to undergo various tests in advance to ensure their health.
She then opened the calendar and roughly calculated her menstrual cycle and ovulation period.
She had never known about these things before and was surprised by how many details there were to consider.
After Alexander returned, they had dinner together, and then he quickly went to the study for a video conference.
She didn't disturb him. After taking a shower, she took out her laptop and headed to the study. She quietly opened the door and walked in.
Alexander, wearing a Bluetooth headset, was sitting in a chair, his stern face focused on the computer in front of him. His every move exuded elegance and nobility. He was still wearing that alluring black shirt, buttoned meticulously, with the collar framing his sexy Adam's apple.
Alexander suddenly said, "Pause for a moment."
Then she met Alexander's deep eyes. The sharpness in them had softened, replaced by a gentle, doting gaze. "What's up?"
The foreign executives in the video were stunned.
Victoria didn't speak but mouthed silently, "I want to stay here with you." Then she pointed to the laptop in her arms.
