Chapter 412 She Wasn't as Generous as Imagined
Alexander sat on the sofa, his sharply defined features always cloaked in an icy demeanor. His deep eyes held a mysterious, unsettling intensity.
Waverly felt a bit disappointed seeing him so indifferent.
She was always the center of attention wherever she went, but Alexander didn't even glance at her, keeping a cold face.
If Zephyr were here, he would be dumbfounded. Just a moment ago, Alexander was smiling and joking with the fake Waverly, but now he was so cold.
But she was not someone who would give up because of a little difficulty.
She met Alexander in her junior year of college. She attended the same university that he had graduated from. That year, the university invited him for the anniversary celebration, and she, as the president of the student council, accompanied the school leaders to receive him.
He had a strong presence, exuding a noble and charming aura.
After the celebration, she had someone look into his background and found out he was from Rihegde.
She thought she would never have the chance to see him again in this lifetime.
Unexpectedly, years later, she saw him at her home, and judging by her father's demeanor, he had known him for a long time. It felt like it was destined.
"Mr. Howard, it's been so many years, you probably don't recognize me anymore." She continued the conversation, "I have always remembered you."
Alexander frowned slightly and glanced at her this time, his cold eyes clearly conveying, "I don't know you well."Just then, Zephyr returned and overheard their conversation.
"Dad," Waverly stood up and called out.
Alexander remained seated, not intending to stand up.
"Wendy, how do you know Alexander?" Zephyr asked in confusion.
"The university I attended happens to be Mr. Howard's alma mater. One year during the anniversary celebration, the school invited Mr. Howard to participate," Waverly explained.
Zephyr was unaware of this and looked at her in surprise, then at Alexander, "Really? Is that true? What a coincidence?"
At this moment, Alexander stood up, still maintaining his respect towards Zephyr. "Mr. Windsor, it's very late. Since there's nothing else, I'll take my leave."
He did not answer Zephyr's question.
Zephyr, being observant, could tell that Alexander did not want to discuss this matter.
"Victoria, why do you look so down?" Eugene, compared to other girls, had a more lively personality.
At this moment, Victoria had already removed her disguise.
Just when everyone thought she wouldn't speak, she suddenly asked, "Be honest, whose face is prettier, mine or Waverly's?"
Thomas and the others looked at her in shock.
"Vicky, what's wrong with you?" Thomas raised an eyebrow and asked, "How could you ask such a meaningless question after just one trip to the Presidential Palace?"
Victoria glared at him, pursed her lips, and said in a cold, commanding voice, "Just answer my question."
Eugene replied, "Yours, of course."
The others remained silent.
This made Victoria even more puzzled.
Why did Alexander suddenly become so friendly with 'Waverly'?
This was really out of character for him.
And he couldn't have recognized her. She was always sensitive about such things and wouldn't expose any of her habits or aura.
Besides, he couldn't have known she was here. She had erased all traces of her whereabouts.
So, why did he suddenly come from Aidamore to the Kingdom of Serenia?
And why did he go to the Presidential Palace?
Could it be that he used Zephyr as an excuse and came to see Waverly for real?
Suddenly, Victoria was overwhelmed by a flood of thoughts.
She never used to be like this. What was happening to her?
Was it just because a woman suddenly appeared by Alexander's side?
When she saw him, she had to ask him clearly!
He smiled at another woman. She thought she wouldn't mind, but now she realized she did—a lot.
Another possibility was that Waverly was someone related to Zephyr. Out of respect for Zephyr, he treated 'Waverly' kindly?
And she still hadn't figured out why Zephyr had so many photos with her mother.
What role did Zephyr play in all this?
Did he have any connection with her?
These were all things she needed to investigate.
"By the way, I remembered something." Marigold, who had been interrupted by Victoria's question earlier, spoke up.
She took out a coin-sized badge from her pocket. "I found this in a trash can at the Presidential Palace."
She thought the pattern was special and familiar, so she brought it out, but she couldn't remember where she had seen it before.
When Victoria saw the familiar badge, her whole demeanor instantly became sharp.
"Where did you find it?" she asked coldly, narrowing her eyes.
Marigold replied, "In the trash can in the annex."
Victoria turned the badge over a few times in her hand. It bore the special insignia of Organization 103. But how did it end up in the Presidential Palace?
It seemed her suspicions were correct.
She hadn't found any traces of Organization 103 in Zephyr's study, but she found this badge in the annex where Anouk and Waverly lived. Was this a coincidence or intentional?
But the other party shouldn't have known they were coming, so it couldn't have been a trap set in advance, right?
Thomas had the same doubts. "Vicky, this feels a bit too coincidental."
Victoria put away the badge, her eyes slightly downcast. The badge temporarily made her forget her anger towards Alexander.
Meanwhile, Alexander had also left the Presidential Palace.
"Mr. Howard, our people saw Mr. Taylor and have been following them, but there's something strange." Marcus hesitated. "Our people saw Waverly get into Mr. Taylor's car. What's going on?"
Their people hadn't seen Victoria at all.
After getting into the car, the man pinched the bridge of his nose and sighed, "That was Victoria in disguise."
"What?" Marcus and Kimberly were stunned.
How many times was Victoria going to play this 'face-changing' game?
Of all people, she chose to disguise herself as a socialite from the Presidential Palace?
They had to admit that their Victoria was not only bold but also smart.
No wonder they were wondering how Victoria would sneak into the Presidential Palace without making a sound.
After Alexander finished speaking, he said no more.
Marcus, who knew Alexander well, knew he wanted to go find Victoria.
