Chapter 166 Do You Think I'm Invisible?

In the private room, Lila was yapping away, trying to keep the convo going.

Victoria's sharp almond eyes were locked on her, all suspicious-like. She knew Lila loved to chat, but the constant clock-checking? Totally not her style.

Victoria took a casual sip of water and threw out, "Lila, you waiting on someone?"

Lila shot back, "Nope," way too fast.

That made it even weirder. The usually chill Lila had a nervous vibe going on.

Lila thought she was slick, but Victoria caught on to her odd behavior.

Victoria decided to play it cool and not call her out.

Half an hour later, Lila jumped up and said, "Babe, I gotta hit the restroom. Too much water. You need to go?"

Victoria shook her head, "Nah, I'm good. You go."

She didn't think much of it since Lila had been chugging water.

Three minutes later, her phone buzzed with a Facebook message from Lila: [Babe, I got my period. Got a pad? Can you bring me one?]

[If not, ask the front desk. It's urgent.]

Victoria got up and headed to the front desk.

But weirdly, no one was there.

Not just the front desk, the whole reception hall was empty, totally different from when they arrived.

She frowned and heard some noise outside, so she walked out.

Following the sound, she ended up on the other side of Meadowview Estates. The lawn was lit up, and a path was decked out with flowers and pink balloons, like a wedding scene.

The sight of all the blue flowers threw her off.

Just as she was processing it all, a firework exploded in the sky.

She looked up.

Colorful fireworks lit up, forming a big heart with a message: [Victoria, Happy Birthday]

She stared, totally stunned.

Then, hidden lights along the path lit up.

Victoria snapped back and saw the dashing Alexander walking towards her. Her heart was pounding like crazy.

She got it now—he and Lila had teamed up to "trick" her.

She had a hunch earlier but never saw this coming.

Alexander, looking sharp in a gray suit, walked up with a gentle smile and eyes full of love, staring deep into hers.

Alexander said, all emotional, "Victoria, twenty-four years ago at 6:50 AM, God brought you into my life. The moment I saw your tiny self waving your hands and feet, I knew I wanted to love and cherish you forever.

We've only been together for two months as adults, but you've been in my heart for twenty-four years. These twenty-four years are just the beginning; they're timeless. I want you in my heart until it stops beating. Will you?"

Victoria was about to respond when Alexander suddenly dropped to one knee.

She was stunned.

Alexander looked up, his deep eyes full of love and a bit of nerves.

He asked again, "Will you be my wife for life?"

Victoria was totally caught off guard.

Who said Alexander didn't get romance?

Honestly, she wasn't big on all these grand gestures. They were already hitched, and she didn't think it was necessary. She was always easy to please.

She looked down at Alexander on one knee, and suddenly her vision got all blurry. She didn't even realize her eyes were tearing up.

But right then, she was genuinely moved.

She nodded. "I will."

As soon as she said that and was about to help him up, a bunch of familiar faces popped out from the side.

Lila, who supposedly had her period, Ignatius, Landon, Caleb, Marlowe, and even Nathan, Thalia, Saskia, and Preston.

"Honey, surprised?" Sarah's voice rang out from the crowd.

Victoria was kinda dumbfounded.

She looked at Alexander, who had already stood up, and just as she was about to ask him something, he leaned in and kissed her.

Immediately, cheers erupted around them.

She didn't know whether to feel touched or embarrassed.

Alexander was so bold. He didn't mind kissing in front of everyone, but that didn't mean she was cool with it.

Lila shouted, "I never thought I'd see Alexander kissing in public one day."

Caleb took a deep breath. "Who said Alexander doesn't get romance!"

Landon, half-serious, half-joking, teased, "Alexander, Victoria, should I bring you a bed?"

The elders watched the scene with satisfaction.

This was probably the liveliest birthday party Victoria had ever had in decades.

After giving her their gifts, the elders left, leaving the time to them.

Victoria looked at the lively scene, feeling genuinely happy and content, with a constant smile on her face.

It seemed that birthdays weren't so bad after all, at least they could gather all the familiar faces together.

Alexander had just taken a call and returned to her side, pulling Victoria into his arms. He lowered his chin to her head and asked softly, "What are you thinking about?"

Victoria naturally wrapped her arms around his strong waist. "Thank you. Thank you for the surprise. Thank you for the happiness you give me."

She rarely got so emotional, but Alexander lowered his head and nibbled on her earlobe, his deep, magnetic voice whispering in her ears, "If you want to thank me, do something practical."

Then Alexander moved his lips to her neck, gently kissing it a few times.

She immediately felt her neck and cheeks heat up. He knew that was her most sensitive spot.

She couldn't help but let out a shy moan.

Fortunately, the noise around them covered it, but Alexander, holding her, heard it clearly.

"Can't you restrain yourself in this setting?" She glared at him helplessly.

"Nope." Alexander smiled.

Victoria was speechless, thinking, 'You really know how to ruin the mood.'

The group playing in the distance naturally noticed this scene.

"Can't Alexander consider the feelings of us single people?" Caleb complained, grinding his back teeth.

Owen, hearing this, pulled Lila into his arms. "I have a girlfriend now."

Caleb fell silent.

So did Lila.

Behind them, Grant watched the two hugging, his jaw tight, brows furrowed, eyes filled with complex emotions, and lips pressed thin.

"Am I invisible to you?" Grant said coldly.
