Chapter 58 Landon is Back

Victoria grabbed the takeout from Starlight Diner and left right away.

"Lucas, what are you staring at?" a guy asked, patting Lucas on the shoulder.

Lucas snapped out of it. "Nothing, just thought I saw someone I knew."

In a place like Starlight Diner, takeout wasn't usually an option, and Victoria wouldn't have that kind of pull. He must've been mistaken.

"Come on, let's go. They're waiting," the guy said.

They were dining at Starlight Diner thanks to a wealthy heir, as booking a private room there was tough.

Lucas followed him to a private room on the third floor.

These rooms were even harder to book; you needed both money and power.

"Hey Lucas, doesn't the Tudor family have ties with the Daniels family? The Daniels rely on the Howards. Ever had any dealings with the Howards?" the guy asked.

Lucas, looking serious, said, "No."

"Exactly, families like the Howards are out of our league. The Daniels have only visited the Howards twice and have been thriving since. No one really knows if the Howards are backing them," the guy shrugged.

Meanwhile, at Vertex Holdings Group.

Alexander ended the meeting 30 minutes early.

Dylan told him Victoria was coming, so he headed back to his office.

As soon as he opened the door, he saw an unexpected guest lounging inside.

"Why are you here?" Alexander asked, a hint of disdain in his eyes as he looked at Landon on the sofa.

Landon, feeling a bit hurt, replied, "This is my family's company too, can't I come back?"

"Behave yourself!" Alexander said coldly, sitting in his chair and giving Landon a sharp look.

Landon immediately straightened up.

"I missed you, so I came back," Landon said with a grin.

But Alexander's cold stare made him quickly add, "Mom said you got married, so I came to see who this amazing woman is."

"That's my wife. Watch your words!" Alexander warned, his eyes flashing coldly.

Landon was stunned. Alexander was actually protecting someone?

Incredible!

His curiosity grew.

"All these years, you haven't had a single woman around you. Grandpa Howard, our parents, and I thought you didn't like women. That's why Grandpa kept setting you up on blind dates, but you weren't interested. So why now? What's so special about this wife of yours?" Landon asked, furrowing his brows.

He'd been curious since he heard the news and came straight here after landing.

He knew Alexander well; no one could make him do anything unless he wanted to.

Alexander ignored him and picked up his phone to text Victoria.

Just then, Victoria arrived at the office door.

She had just pushed the door halfway open when she heard a voice saying,  "Did you marry someone just because Grandpa Howard was pressuring you too much?"

It was a male voice coming from inside, and she pushed the door open fully.

Landon looked over, curious to see who dared to enter Alexander's office unannounced.

He saw a tall woman in a green dress holding a Starlight Diner bag. Landon was slightly stunned. 'Is she here to deliver food?'

But she didn't even glance at him.

Victoria stood at the door, her calm eyes on Alexander, and asked, "Is that true?"

Alexander shook his head. "No."

Then he got up and walked towards her.

Victoria heard his answer and responded with a casual grunt.

Landon, sitting on the sofa, looked between them, blinking in shock. Did he just see fear on Alexander's face? And now Alexander was walking towards her, even holding her hand gently!

So, this woman was Alexander's wife?

This thought flashed through his mind, and he stood up from the sofa.

He smiled ingratiatingly at Victoria and said, "I was just joking earlier, don't take it seriously. My big brother only does what he wants."

Landon quickly understood. Alexander's attitude showed Victoria's status was special. For the head of the Howard family to greet her personally was remarkable; even their parents didn't get that treatment.

Victoria finally looked at Landon. He was similar in build to Alexander and had some resemblance, but Landon had a more lively aura and looked more carefree. The difference was obvious.

"I know," Victoria replied simply.

After spending time together, she knew very well whether Alexander's feelings were genuine.

Landon smiled ingratiatingly, "Good to know."

What a relief, it scared him.

However, Victoria seemed different from ordinary women. She was stunningly beautiful and had a strong aura, similar to Alexander. At first glance, they both gave off a cold impression.

Alexander's sharp eyes swept over him, and his cold voice pierced his ears, "Aren't you supposed to leave?"

Landon noticed Alexander's swift change in attitude.

He shivered like a frightened lamb, quickly grabbed his coat from the sofa, and said with a cheeky grin, "Yes, I should go now. I won't disturb you two."

Then he quickly left the office.

Landon had just taken a few steps when he heard the door close behind him.

Inside the office.

Victoria had just placed the takeout bag on the table when Alexander gently pulled her wrist, spinning her around and holding her in his arms.

Victoria looked up at him slightly and asked, "What's wrong?"

"Why did you bring me food?" Alexander asked.

She blinked and replied, "Dylan said you've been in meetings all morning and haven't had lunch, so I brought you food."

Alexander narrowed his eyes and asked, "Aren't you worried people will gossip about your identity?"
