Chapter 74 Alexander's "Secret"

In Nathan's courtyard, Micah was catching Nathan up on everything that just happened.

Nathan just laughed instead of getting mad.

"Looks like Victoria is perfect for Alexander," Nathan chuckled.

"Why do you think that?" Micah asked.

Nathan explained, "Being the head of the Howard family’s wife isn’t just about having a strong background. It’s about courage and wisdom. Victoria dared to hit Neil at Howard Villa, showing she's bold. Plus, she handled it smoothly without causing big trouble, proving she’s got poise and authority."

Nathan was clearly impressed with Victoria.

Micah nodded, "The Howard family is complicated. Even the waters seem still, there are always people eyeing Alexander's position. His wife can't be weak. Victoria fits the bill."

"But won't tonight's actions and Alexander openly protecting her show his weakness?" Micah asked, concerned.

Nathan laughed it off, "You don’t know Alexander well enough. If he’s openly protecting Victoria, he’s ready for it. Plus, Victoria is no walk in the park."

Meanwhile, Alexander took Victoria away from Howard Villa.

They sat in the back seat.

"Will Grandpa Nathan be mad about tonight?" Victoria asked hesitantly.

Alexander, holding her hand, gently squeezed it and said, "No. Don’t worry."

Victoria felt relieved. His words always calmed her.

Alexander rubbed her fingers with his thumb and asked, "So, what did you notice tonight?"

Victoria rolled her eyes, chuckled, and said, "Everyone’s calculating and looking out for themselves."

"Anything else?" he pressed.

Victoria sighed, "Your family's situation is too complicated. You need some skills to survive."

Even though tonight was just a small incident, Victoria sensed that Alexander's elders, while flattering, weren’t sincere. Even the younger generation seemed shady.

Alexander looked at her deeply and asked, "Are you scared?"

Scared?

Victoria looked at him, her eyes reflecting his face, and smiled. "No, because I have you. You told me to rely on you, and now I am."

Alexander laughed, not expecting her to use his words.

"As long as I’m here, I won’t let anyone hurt you," he said, full of affection.

"Okay," she nodded.

Alexander knew she could protect herself, but he wouldn’t let anything unexpected happen to her.

She always agreed verbally but never truly relied on him, always handling things on her own.

Alexander didn't really know what Victoria was thinking. For her, choosing to be with him meant being ready to face any danger together.

Tonight's incident at the Howard family would definitely bring some hidden threats her way.

As their car pulled into North Courtyard, passing the security booth, Frank saw Victoria in the back seat and said, "Ms. Kennedy, there's a package for you at the mail center."

Victoria smiled, "Okay, thank you."

She had forgotten about the chocolates Chloe sent her.

When the car stopped, Dylan said, "Mrs. Howard, we'll get it for you."

Victoria nodded, "Okay, thank you."

Alexander took her hand and led her into the elevator.

Once home, Victoria changed into comfortable loungewear.

Soon, the doorbell rang.

Victoria opened the door, and Dylan was holding a cardboard box.

"Bring it in," Victoria said, stepping aside.

Dylan entered and saw Alexander coming out of the bedroom, sleeves rolled up, saying, "The water's ready, go take a bath."

Dylan was stunned.

Did Alexander mistake him for Victoria?

Seeing Dylan standing there with the box, Alexander frowned and asked, "What? Want to stay over?"

Dylan quickly put down the box, stammering, "N-no, I'll leave now."

He hurried out.

Passing the entrance, he said to Victoria, "Mrs. Howard, goodbye."

"Okay, thank you," Victoria smiled.

Dylan waved, "Not at all, my pleasure."

Victoria watched him rush into the elevator, puzzled. He was fine earlier; why did he look so scared now?

Dylan thought, 'Alexander is scarier than a demon.'

Downstairs, Marcus saw Dylan's horrified expression. "Dude, what's up? You look like you've seen a ghost!" Marcus asked.

Dylan, looking distressed, said, "Worse. I saw Mr. Howard running a bath for Mrs. Howard."

Marcus was stunned. "What did you say?"

"His face suggested he's done this a lot. Did I just stumble upon something I shouldn't have?" Dylan was scared, feeling like he had discovered a secret.

"Probably. For someone of Mr. Howard's status, he's usually the one being served, not the one doing things himself," Marcus said, taking a deep breath. "It just shows how much he cares for Mrs. Howard."

Upstairs, Alexander looked at the large cardboard box and asked, "Who sent it?"

"A friend," Victoria replied.

"A dude?" he asked.

Victoria laughed, "A gal."

Alexander felt relieved. "You go take a bath, I'll unpack it."

"Okay, just put them in the snack cabinet when you're done," Victoria said and went into the room.

It was Alexander's first time opening a package.

Being from such a prominent family, things he wanted were always brought to him without him needing to open them himself.

After opening the box, he was slightly stunned, not by the contents, but by...
