Chapter 316 Have You Figured out Who the Boss Is

Sophia watched from the sidelines, chuckling softly.

When it came to arguments, Ellington always ended up on the losing side.

Victoria cut straight to the point, "I know you're investigating me."

Ellington knew he was in the wrong, but he still shot back confidently, "Ungrateful! I'm just worried you'd get duped by Alexander and end up doing the work for him!"

Victoria looked at him like he was out of his mind.

Before she could respond, Sophia jumped in, "You've known her for ages. Have you ever seen her get taken advantage of by anyone?"

Sophia glanced at Victoria, smiling. "If Alex tricks her, she won't let him off the hook easily."

Ellington was at a loss for words.

Sophia wasn't wrong, but he resented how Alexander had taken over Victoria, especially since he had discovered that Alexander and Victoria had only known each other for a short time.

"You're not the impulsive type, so why did you agree to marry someone you just met?" Ellington directed this question at Victoria. He had always wanted to ask but never found the right moment.

Sophia was curious about this too.

Having known Victoria for so long, she understood that she indeed wasn't the impulsive type. And marriage was no trivial matter.

Victoria glanced at him calmly.

Her eyes always held a layer of tranquility, making it impossible for anyone to know her.

After a moment, she finally spoke, "It's not like we got married right after we met."

She didn't elaborate, because she had indeed been somewhat impulsive back then. Marrying Alexander on a whim was the most impulsive thing she had ever done.

She didn't know why she did. Maybe she thought he seemed like a good person at first glance. And she didn't seem to regret it; the impulsiveness hadn't backfired.

Both of them looked puzzled upon hearing this.

Ellington quickly questioned, "Then why can't you consider me? At least you know me well."

Victoria narrowed her eyes slightly, exuding a hint of danger, and said decisively, "You're not my type! You're only suitable as a friend."

Ellington, feeling sad, fell silent.

"Can't you be a bit more tactful?" Ellington asked.

"No! I'm married!" Victoria replied firmly.

She had always been quite adept at fending off unwanted romantic advances, and being a married woman, she had become even more conscientious about it.

Sophia, standing nearby, glanced at him. Then she turned to Victoria. When Ellington was investigating Victoria and Alexander, she had seen photos of the two.

"Looking at it this way," Sophia said with a charming smile, "Victoria and Alexander do seem more compatible, a perfect match."

Then she turned her gaze to Ellington and bluntly said, "With you, there's really no sense of a romance."

Ellington shot her a cold, sharp look.

Sophia wasn't afraid of him, especially since there was someone here who he was concerned about.

Victoria didn't continue the argument but said, "If they can appear at the Nexus border of Aidamore, it means they're not far from Aidamore."

"I've checked," Ellington said, "The Nexus border is mostly deserted islands with hardly any structures on the surface, unless they're digging tunnels like rats."

A base underground? Victoria's mind clicked.

She knew the islands near the Nexus border; there were thirteen in total. Excluding five that were definitely uninhabitable, the remaining eight were possibilities.

The first impression of the Nexus border was desolation, so barren that not even an animal could survive, let alone people.

But for the people of Organization 103, they weren't animals or humans; they were twisted devils, and there was no place a devil couldn't conquer.

Right, why hadn't she thought of this before?

Suddenly, she had a direction.

Victoria raised an eyebrow, her eyes sparkling like stars. She glanced at Ellington and said, "You're actually pretty useful."

Ellington was silent.

Victoria then said, "Have your people search the eight islands near the Nexus border. I'll mark them out."

Ellington was a bit dumbfounded. "You don't seriously think they're digging tunnels there, do you? I was just speaking off the cuff."

But as soon as he finished speaking, he met Victoria's serious gaze and immediately shut up. He realized she didn't want to leave any possibility unexplored.

And rightly so, those people were so twisted, there was nothing they couldn't think of.

Unexpectedly, his offhand remark had sparked an idea in Victoria's mind.

Sophia was a bit puzzled. "I remember reading a report that there are 13 islands there. Why only eight?"

Ellington had the same puzzled look.

Victoria explained, "Because the remaining five have underwater volcanoes that could erupt at any time. They couldn't possibly build a new base there."

"How do you know that so well?" Ellington was curious.

After all, those islands weren't small, and they were so remote. Who would go there to do research?

Victoria didn't answer him but seemed impatient. "Give me a computer."

Ten minutes later.

She had drawn a topographical map on the computer, with coordinates and latitudes all marked out. She indicated where the entrances and exits were and which areas were likely spots for an underground base.

It was so clear to see the entire island without even going there.

Ellington was a bit dumbfounded. He knew she was smart, but this was a bit much.

"You didn't actually go there, did you?" Ellington asked.

Victoria replied, "I've been there once."

Ellington asked again, "You didn't go to every single island, did you?"

The next second, Victoria nodded.

He was dumbfounded again.

"When did you go?" he continued.

Victoria said calmly, "Four years ago."

"It's been so long. Even if you remember the topography, it could have changed over time," Sophia questioned.

Victoria confidently said, "No, the topography of these islands is fixed. Nature won't change them."

Ellington then instructed his people to focus on these islands.

Suddenly, he seemed to remember something and said, "Oh, by the way, I also found out that a bunch of kids recently went missing from Aidamore and Vistalia. It seems to be related to those people. But the strange thing is, no one is doing anything about it. It's like someone is covering it up, and the families of the missing kids aren't saying a word. You might be able to make excuses for one or two, but there are at least thirty kids missing, and all within a month."

Ellington wasn't saying this out of sympathy or a desire to meddle; he was just curious.

"Kids?" A glint of light flashed in Victoria's eyes. It seemed they couldn't wait any longer to find Organization 103.

"Could they be trying to use the same trick again?" Sophia said.

Ellington, looking indifferent, said, "I don't care if they're using the same trick or not. I'm just curious how the royal nations of Aidamore and Vistalia, led by the Armstrong family and the Sanders family, who are revered for their love of their people, could let this slide. Aren't you curious?"

"Ellington, when will you stop being such a gossip?" Sophia retorted.

Ellington snapped, "Sophia, get it straight. Who's the boss here? Do you think you can just make fun of me?"

Sophia scoffed, giving a seductive smile, unafraid of his stern tone, "Why don't you fire me then? Manage the Imperial Club yourself?"

Ellington was at a loss for words. The Imperial Club really couldn't do without her.

While the two were bickering, Victoria had already fallen into a storm of thoughts.

Bryan had never mentioned the missing children in Aidamore to her.

The missing children in Aidamore, George, the gold mine—these people and events seemed unrelated. But each played its role.

The children were for new experiments, George was for the final phase of the experiment's data, and the gold mine was for massive funding.

So, they really had restarted the experiment from back then.

She should have guessed when they took George.

Actually, back then, she had suspected that someone was funding Organization 103 from behind the scenes. But for so many years, that person was cautious, not even revealing themselves when Organization 103's first base was destroyed.

Five years later, they had returned once again.
