Chapter 163 Alexander's Sweet Nothings

Victoria had just dealt with Percy and stepped out, only to bump into Alexander, who had just wrapped up his own stuff.

The second Alexander saw her, his icy, hostile vibe melted into one of pure affection and gentleness.

Alexander walked right up to her, grabbed her hand, and his eyes darkened as he frowned a bit. "Why's your hand so cold?"

He then took her other hand in his palm, finding it just as cold.

His lips pressed into a thin line, looking all kinds of displeased. "Didn't Craig turn on the heater for you?"

Craig happened to walk out from their left side and overheard the comment.

He paused, unsure whether to stay or go.

It was only mid-October, and the weather was just a bit cool. No need for the heater.

Victoria always had a smile on her face when she saw Alexander.

She said, "I'm fine. I just washed my hands."

She had just took matters into her own hands with Prey.

Craig stayed quiet. 'Is it really necessary to freak out over washing hands?'

Clearly a cold and ruthless guy, yet Alexander turned into a softie around Victoria. To Craig, Alexander was this high and mighty figure, the only person he had ever seen who was meticulous, ruthless, and cold-hearted. Fear and anxiety were emotions that never showed on him.

Craig had never seen gentleness in Alexander, but now he was seeing it up close.

Victoria left Percy at Underworld Specter.

After she and Alexander left Underworld Specter, they headed straight to the airport.

Before boarding the plane, she called Leonard.

The call was quickly answered.

Victoria spoke first, "I've found Percy. The formula for the drug he took from the lab is currently at XC Pharmaceuticals."

This was the first thing Leonard had told her yesterday. When she left the lab back then, she had left behind a research report and the formula.

It was a formula for developing a vaccine against the Y virus, but she had been in a hurry to get back to Rihegde and had handed over the follow-up experiments and formula to Alan.

Percy, who had a gambling problem and owed a ton of debt, happened to be part of this experiment.

So, for money, he used his resignation as a cover to steal the formula and teamed up with people from XC Pharmaceuticals.

"Such a bastard!" Leonard shouted.

Leonard hadn't made a fuss about it, as the formula was not yet perfected and couldn't be used on the market.

Victoria said, "This hasn't blown up yet. XC Pharmaceuticals only got half of the formula, so they can't develop the actual drug."

Leonard was momentarily stunned. Half?

Victoria explained, "Percy was smart enough not to give them the entire formula at once but in parts."

The pharmaceutical market was always a goldmine, and everyone wanted a piece of the action.

But some folks were just too gutsy, bribing lab staff to swipe formulas, which was straight-up illegal.

After Victoria gave a quick rundown, Leonard said, "I'll clean up this mess. Don't forget to set up the upcoming academic exchange conference. You're the special guest this time, and you can't bail on me."

"They told me today that it's in the capital of Stellaria, Rihegde, so you won't have to travel far."

Victoria responded with a lackluster "Got it" and hung up.

Honestly, she wasn't thrilled about going to the academic exchange conference, but considering how much Leonard had begged, she agreed.

It's just a matter of going up and saying a few words, so she might as well do it.

Sitting next to her, Alexander had his legs crossed with a laptop on his lap, handling emails while eavesdropping on Victoria's call.

He only looked up and stared at her after she hung up, without saying a word.

Victoria noticed his gaze and tilted her head, puzzled. "What's up? Is there something on my face?"

"There is." Alexander grinned.

"What is it?" Victoria asked.

"My adoring gaze," Alexander said.

Her hand, which she was about to raise, froze in mid-air.

Victoria was speechless.

The driver was dumbfounded.

So was Dylan.

Alexander's sudden romantic words made them feel incredibly awkward.

Was the person sitting behind them really their wise, mighty, and cold Alexander?

Alexander could say such romantic stuff?

All three of them had varying degrees of twitching at the corners of their mouths.

Victoria, although used to hearing Lila often say such romantic things, found it hard to reconcile them coming from Alexander, given his noble and elegant demeanor.

She was silent for a few seconds, then coughed lightly and lowered her voice. "Where'd you learn that?"

Alexander didn't feel awkward at all.

On the contrary, he was very honest, looking quite pleased and serious. "Owen posted it in the group chat. I happened to see it, and you happened to ask the same question, so I had to give it a shot."

Victoria was silent for a moment.

Who told her Alexander was a cold person?

"Good, but no more of that. It doesn't suit your image." She could only force a smile.

Really, hearing those words from him, she couldn't handle it.

Alexander's eyes flashed with a hint of amusement, but he didn't say anything. After a moment, he asked, "Victoria, can I ask you something? Can an ordinary researcher be invited as a special guest?"

"Yeah, they can." Victoria answered.

"Really?" He still doubted.
