Chapter 481 You Are Quite Pathetic

After Kimberly and Winter knocked out the two people outside the door, they discovered it.

Even if they wanted to defuse them, they couldn't handle them all.

Besides, they weren't bomb disposal experts.

Victoria looked at Griffin, her brow furrowed.

Griffin was straightforward. "Since you've found out, I won't hide it anymore." He looked down at her condescendingly. "Yes, I had ten bomb packages placed throughout this yacht. The blast radius is powerful enough to prevent any rescue vessels from approaching within a mile."

He paused briefly, then continued, "The remote is in my hand, and only my remote can control them. Of course, if you try to forcibly remove them, it will trigger a chain reaction explosion."

Victoria's face darkened as she pondered. No ships could approach within a mile?

Then how would he escape?

She wasn't naive enough to believe he planned to die alongside them. Nor would he wait until he was safely away before detonating.

And she was certain Alexander hadn't brought only Marcus with him.

Just as this thought crossed her mind, Alexander, who was holding her, whispered in her ear, "Stall him."

"May I ask a question?" Victoria looked curiously at Griffin.

Griffin raised an eyebrow and nodded. "Go ahead."

Victoria stepped forward, tilting her head slightly to look up at him. "Logically, even if you leave us all here today, someone will eventually expose your actions. But you don't seem afraid of me revealing your deeds—you're afraid of something else."

She deliberately paused, narrowing her eyes slightly, her red lips curving into a smile. "You're afraid of my identity, aren't you?"

Griffin's eyes flashed with a hint of unease, but he didn't immediately answer.

His silence told Victoria everything she needed to know—he already knew she was Zephyr's biological daughter!

"But do you really think Zephyr won't know what you've done?" She let out a cold laugh.

Griffin merely furrowed his brow briefly before relaxing it, adopting a playful, unconcerned expression. "So what if he knows? I just need to ensure there are no witnesses!"

While Victoria and Griffin were talking, Marcus secretly moved to position himself behind Alexander.

"Mr. Alexander Howard, Mr. Gideon Howard and his men have arrived," he whispered from behind Alexander.

Alexander made a gesture with the hand behind his back.

Marcus understood immediately.

He then discreetly made several hidden gestures toward Kimberly.

Fortunately, their teamwork remained seamless.

She took advantage of the others' distraction to return to the first deck and enter the control room.

The people on the first deck had already been neutralized.

Winter had taken control of the control room.

"Where's Victoria?" Winter asked anxiously when she saw Kimberly return.

"Mrs. Howard is fine," Kimberly said. "Winter, here's what we need to do now."

She whispered a few instructions in her ear.

After finishing, Kimberly immediately contacted Gideon to inform him of the situation on the yacht.

Thomas was with Gideon and, seeing his furrowed brow, sensed something was wrong.

"What's happened? Is Vicky in trouble?" Thomas asked.

Gideon relayed Kimberly's message to him in detail.

The situation was indeed complicated, as they were at a disadvantage.

"Alexander wants us to intercept Griffin's helicopter. Since he plans to blow up the yacht with an explosion radius that wide, he certainly won't escape using a lifeboat. His only option would be an aircraft," Gideon explained.

Thomas urged, "Then let's move quickly!"

"Griffin, I think you're quite pathetic," Victoria suddenly remarked.

Griffin remained silent.

She continued, "Think about it—abandoned by irresponsible parents as a child, then happily growing up in an orphanage until age six, only to be adopted by Anouk, which led you to become this despicable person with a host of problems."

"You could have had a different life. With a different path, you might have lived longer and happier. But look at yourself now—don't you find your existence pitiful? Living like this?"

"You have no family, no friends, only schemes, conspiracies, and your deranged plans! After harming so many people, don't you feel lonely and afraid in the dead of night? Trapped in a cold, dark, hopeless place with no one to accompany you or listen to you?"

"Can you honestly say you've experienced even one day of genuine happiness since leaving the orphanage?"

Griffin frowned, his eyes filled with cold fury and turbulent emotions.

It was only because she had struck at the truth in his heart.

Indeed, before leaving the orphanage, though his life wasn't good, he had been happy—at least he had playmates.

But after leaving, he discovered that Anouk hadn't truly wanted to adopt him; she had only wanted to use him.

Facing his fierce gaze, Victoria showed no fear, returning an equally intense look, though hers carried a hint of defiance.

Suddenly, he straightened up on the third deck and began to laugh.

"Lonely? Afraid?" he asked, drawing out the final syllables.

It wasn't clear whether he was questioning himself or Victoria.

But that didn't matter.

"Miss Kennedy, you don't actually think you can move me with some made-up story and convince me to let you all go, do you?" he said directly.

Victoria wasn't embarrassed. Initially, she had indeed hoped to persuade him, but...

She knew Griffin wasn't someone who could be easily swayed.

But that wasn't her true objective anyway.

While he was still processing her previous words, she casually remarked with a slight laugh, "You want to kill me simply because you're worried I'll compete with you for the presidency of the Kingdom of Serenia."

Griffin suddenly sensed something was off. Victoria was talking too much tonight.

But he couldn't immediately pinpoint what felt wrong.

As he pondered this, Victoria's clear, cool voice reached his ears again, "No matter what, you'll never have a chance at the presidency."

At first, she had thought he only wanted to research the gene-altering drug to control people's minds, but his ambitions were even wilder—he wanted to replace Zephyr and seize control of the entire Kingdom of Serenia.

And the presidency of the Kingdom of Serenia had one requirement. it could only be inherited and managed by a member of the Windsor Family.

Griffin merely carried the surname; he wasn't truly part of the Windsor Family.

"Even without me, the Windsor Family has other members. You can't be foolish enough to think Zephyr would choose one of you three to succeed him?"

He couldn't disagree with what she said.

But so what?

Opportunities were created, not given. "If there's no opportunity, I'll create one!" Griffin declared.

Suddenly, the sound of helicopter rotor blades spinning filled the air above them.

Everyone looked up to see a helicopter hovering over the yacht.

Victoria narrowed her eyes, noticing the smile on Griffin's face.

Had he arranged for this helicopter?

Alexander, who had been protecting her from behind, suddenly said, "Don't worry, that's not his."

She turned to look at him. "Then whose is it?"

"Gideon must have intercepted the one he arranged," Alexander explained.

"How did you know in advance that he would escape by helicopter?" she asked.

"I don't have precognitive abilities. I just found out recently myself," Alexander said.

Griffin's smile quickly faded, his expression darkening.

He had noticed something was wrong.

The helicopter he had arranged wasn't supposed to have any markings on its fuselage.

In an instant, a bullet struck the deck in front of him.

He stumbled backward several steps, nearly falling onto the deck.

The guards on the deck immediately drew their guns and opened fire on the helicopter.

A barrage of gunfire erupted over the sea.

When Griffin looked toward the second deck, Victoria and Alexander were nowhere to be seen.

His rage instantly reached its peak.

He suddenly realized why Victoria had seemed off—she had been stalling for time.

He cursed under his breath!

"Shoot down that helicopter!" he shouted to his men.

Then he quickly left the deck.

Meanwhile, Victoria, Alexander, and Marcus had reached the first deck.

Kimberly and Winter were already waiting, prepared.

The yacht had a spare inflatable boat.

It could just fit the five of them.

As long as Griffin himself hadn't escaped the yacht, he wouldn't press the remote control button.

So they didn't plan to confront him directly.

But just as Victoria and the others were about to board the inflatable boat, Griffin arrived with several men.

Alexander pushed her onto the boat and quickly commanded, "Marcus, take them away first!"

They had guns, and if they hit the inflatable boat, it would puncture, leaving them with no means of escape.

As he turned around, Victoria grabbed his hand.

"Be good and leave first," he said.

She bit her red lip. "Alright, but don't forget the wedding you promised me."

By the time Griffin arrived with his men, Victoria and the others had just departed in the inflatable boat.

"Shoot that boat down!" he ordered coldly.

As someone was about to fire, Alexander, who had been hiding nearby, kicked the gun away.

Griffin looked at him, frowning slightly. "You didn't leave?"

He seemed somewhat surprised.

"We have some scores to settle!" Alexander's powerful presence emanated like a demon lord from hell.

Without further words, he attacked.

Although Griffin had trained in combat, his strength was far inferior to Alexander's.

Within less than a round, he had already taken several punches.

And the three bodyguards he had brought were even less of a challenge.

"Alexander, what happened back then wasn't my doing. She brought it on herself by meddling, which is why Ronnie captured her," Griffin said, wiping blood from the corner of his mouth, his eyes filled with mocking laughter. He certainly knew what old score Alexander wanted to settle.

But Alexander wasn't interested in his excuses.
