Chapter 394 Landon's Romance

Victoria stayed at the research institute until 6:30 PM.

Although this branch had just opened, there were still a lot of things to do.

She stretched in the lab, rubbed her waist, and then walked out of the lab.

She returned to her private office, took off her white coat, grabbed her bag, and left.

As she reached the main entrance, the security guard smiled at her and said, "Ms. Kennedy, off work?"

Victoria nodded at him. "Yes."

The security guard said, "Mr. Howard is here to pick you up again."

Victoria followed the security guard's gaze and, sure enough, Alexander's tall figure came into view.

These days, he had been dropping her off at work and picking her up almost every day.

Almost everyone at the research institute knew about it.

And her identity was known to everyone, so she had nothing to hide.

Alexander's handsome face was indeed tempting.

She walked up to him, slightly tilted her head to look at him. "Didn't you say you had a cocktail party tonight? Is it over?"

Alexander habitually raised his hand to rub her head. "Yes."

He was done because someone else attended in his place.

At a high-end cocktail party.

"Mr. Landon Howard, since you're here, you might as well go in." Marcus looked at Landon in front of him with a headache, "If Mr. Alexander Howard finds out you bailed at the last minute, it won't be a small matter."

Landon was very stubborn. He had come to the door but could still change his mind at the last minute.

Landon, looking unpersuaded, said, "Marcus, if we keep this between us, Alexander will never find out, right?"

Marcus was silent.

Even if he didn't say anything, someone else would.

Besides, he didn't have the guts to lie to Alexander.

He didn't know where Landon got the confidence to think he would go along with deceiving Alexander.

Marcus said helplessly, "Mr. Landon Howard, tonight's cocktail party is hosted by the CEO of Sky Group, who specifically invited Mr. Alexander Howard. If you don't show up, he will definitely ask Mr. Alexander Howard, and that will expose the lie."

He implied: As long as Landon dealt with the CEO of Sky Group, it was all good!

Landon quickly understood his meaning. "Then you go tell the CEO of Sky Group that I have a stomach ache or gastroenteritis and can't come."

Marcus's brow furrowed, and he remained silent.

At this moment, an untimely female voice sounded, "Landon, you're here too?"

Helen was bored at home today and, knowing Lorenzo was attending the cocktail party, decided to come along.

Then she got bored inside and came out for some fresh air.

Landon didn't have time to hide before Helen was already in front of him.

Today, she looked different from usual. She was wearing an elegant evening gown, a form-fitting ivory dress that perfectly highlighted her figure and revealed her smooth, beautiful shoulders.

Her golden curly hair was tied behind her, making her look like a proper lady, completely different from her usual carefree self.

Landon was slightly stunned at first, not expecting her to look so good dressed up.

But he quickly regained his composure and frowned. "What are you doing here?"

Helen raised a playful smile, grinning and honestly answering, "You ignored me, and I was bored at home, so I came with Lorenzo."

Then she asked, "Are you also here for the cocktail party hosted by the CEO of Sky Group?"

Landon didn't answer her but instead lectured her, "You're a college student and haven't even started working yet. What are you doing at this kind of cocktail party? Are you looking for a rich man to be your future husband?"

Helen didn't realize he was mocking her. She even gave him a playful wink, her delicate face lighting up with a smile as she replied, "Yes, the person I'm looking for is you. Are you willing?"

Landon was silent.

Marcus beside him was silent.

Who was this beauty?

Daring to seduce Landon?

Could it be that Landon was about to have a love affair?

Landon's habit of keeping his distance from women was just as strong as Alexander's.

"Are we going back to Howard Villa tonight?" Victoria asked, turning to look at Alexander as he drove.

"Why? Don't want to go back?" Alexander asked with a faint smile.

Victoria didn't miss it; her brow furrowed.

She muttered, "You want to go back."

Alexander heard her words, chuckled, and holding her left hand with his right, said, "Be good, we won't make love today."

She really didn't want to go back; she couldn't handle having sex so often every day.

Nathan pretended to be sick just to keep them at Howard Villa, and they had to drink the tonic soup made for them every day.

The first night was peaceful.

Until the second night, after dinner, they returned to their villa.

Victoria felt an unusual heat spreading through her body, as if something had been set off inside her.

She thought she was too tired, so she took a shower, but felt even more flushed and restless afterward.

She realized something was wrong.

Just as she was about to go to the study to find Alexander, he came back.

When she saw the desire in his eyes, she asked softly, "Are you feeling unwell too?"

They quickly realized that the soup they drank at night had something in it.

And the third night was the same.

Victoria was helpless; she didn't expect Nathan and Saskia to do such childish things to make her pregnant.

Actually, she hadn't been using any birth control for the past couple of months, but she still hadn't gotten pregnant.

She didn't think much of it, and Alexander told her to let nature take its course.

She thought so too, and with the things she had to do later, it wouldn't be good to be pregnant now.

Then she told him what Clara said to her at the police station today.

Alexander frowned upon hearing it. "You can use Mystic Hall's people as you wish. If you need to investigate something, just tell them."

"Using Mystic Hall's people to investigate Simon is overkill," Victoria said, "I've already had someone look into it."

Since finding out she wasn't the Kennedy family's biological child, she felt much more relaxed. There were some things she hadn't done ruthlessly because of this and Thalia's sake.

But now, this only blood connection was gone.

So she naturally had no more concerns.

On the other side.

"Ms. Penrose, Ms. Kennedy already knows that your poisoning is related to the Kennedy family," Nicholas said, looking at Esme in the wheelchair.

Esme responded and then said, "She can know about this, but she doesn't need to know about the other matter."

Nicholas replied, "I get it."

"How's the matter going?" Esme asked.

"It's done," Nicholas said, then added, "Ms. Penrose, I heard that the leadership of Aidamore and the Kingdom of Serenia are about to have a marriage alliance."

He watched her expression as he spoke, and seeing no change, he breathed a sigh of relief.

"Tell me," Esme said indifferently.

"Elizabeth Spencer, the daughter of the Kingdom of Serenia's leadership, is engaged to Bryan, the eldest son of Aidamore's president. The engagement is next Wednesday," Nicholas said.

"Kade Sanders' son?" Esme murmured.
