Chapter 408 Lame Excuse

10:00 PM sharp.

A silver luxury car smoothly drove through the gates of the Presidential Palace.

The guard outside the gate was a bit puzzled. "Why did Miss Windsor come back so early today?"

Another guard replied, "Who knows, maybe something came up. Besides, she's Mr. Windsor's daughter, she can come back whenever she wants; it's not our place to question it."

Waverly's car stopped in the garage.

Victoria, disguised as Waverly, and Winter made their way back to Waverly's room without any obstacles.

She had studied the layout of the Presidential Palace, which consisted of two buildings, both three stories high.

One was the main building, where Zephyr lived, and the other was the side building, where Zephyr's children and wife resided.

Victoria briefly surveyed Waverly's room upon returning, finding nothing special.

She then changed into a set of casual home clothes she had brought with her.

At this moment, Winter approached. "Ms. Kennedy, Marigold just said that Mr. Windsor is not in the main building right now; he's meeting an important guest."

Victoria had just finished changing clothes and exclaimed softly. She had been thinking of an excuse to go to Zephyr's study, and now she had the perfect opportunity.

But at this hour, someone was visiting the Presidential Palace, and Zephyr was meeting them, indicating it was a significant person.

However, that had nothing to do with her.

The opportunity was right in front of her, and she couldn't let it go to waste.

"Let's go to the main building."

"Yes."

The head butler of the main building greeted her respectfully, "Miss Windsor, are you here to see Mr. Windsor?"

Victoria glanced at him with a faint smile and calmly said, "Casey West, I'm here to get a book from my father. I mentioned it to him before. Is he here?"

Casey didn't suspect anything. "Unfortunately, Mr. Windsor is in the reception room meeting an important guest." He said, "You can either wait or go to Mr. Windsor's study to get it yourself."

Victoria didn't respond immediately but asked, "How long will my father be? Maybe I'll wait for him."

Casey replied, "It's uncertain."

She smiled, "Then I'll wait here for a while. If my father doesn't return, I'll get it myself."

Casey hesitated for a moment but didn't stop her. "That's fine, Miss Windsor."

"Thank you, Casey." She smiled gracefully, appearing both obedient and elegant.

Winter, disguised as a maid, watched as Victoria perfectly portrayed Waverly's demeanor, and was genuinely amazed.

At this moment, there was no trace of Victoria's usual cold and aloof aura.

Casey didn't stay in the living room for long and soon left to attend to other matters.

Victoria sat in the living room, glanced around, and noticed there were cameras.

She wasn't worried, as she was currently disguised as Waverly.

She then took out her phone and played with it for a while.

About twenty minutes later, she glanced at Winter, who understood and left the living room.

Shortly after, Victoria also got up and walked towards the second floor, then slipped into the room at the end of the hallway.

The study's light was still on.

She glanced around the study, which was simple, with necessary furnishings and many bookshelves filled with books. It seemed Zephyr had a hobby of collecting books.

This was indeed mentioned in his profile.

She looked closer and saw that most of the books were poetry collections and biographies, quite literary. However, why did these books seem familiar?

Back in the Kennedy family, her mother had her own study filled with similar books. Even in the apartment in Country M, there were many books.

Moreover, she had read Waverly's profile, and one of her hobbies was reading, particularly these types of books.

So, Victoria had used this as an excuse when talking to Casey downstairs.

Soon, a voice came through the tiny earpiece in her ear, "Vicky, where are you now?"

Victoria lowered her voice, "I've entered Zephyr's study."

Thomas on the other end said, "Open the window."

Victoria walked to the window.

With a slight sound, she opened a window and saw Thomas hanging outside.

Thomas swiftly jumped in and closed the window behind him.

"What are you doing here?" Victoria looked at him.

"Two people searching is faster than one." Thomas dusted off his hands and asked, "Found anything?"

Victoria had searched around but found nothing except two safes.

Thomas glanced at them and then pulled out a thin wire from somewhere. "Leave it to me."

Victoria nodded as Thomas was much more skilled at lockpicking.

"Ms. Kennedy, Casey is back." Winter's voice came through her earpiece.

She calmly replied, "If he asks, tell him I felt unwell and went to the bathroom."

Winter pursed her lips, not expecting Victoria to use such a lame excuse.
