Chapter 328 The Distracted Man

Caleb and the others couldn't keep up with Alexander at all. Alexander was too fast, moving like the wind. The car hadn't even come to a complete stop before he was already out.

Alexander had already committed the path to the villagers' house to memory during the drive, rendering any guidance unnecessary.

Alexander didn't even bother to knock; he just kicked the door open, as though waiting another second was intolerable. At that moment, he had forgotten the most basic manners; his mind was entirely focused on two people.

The family of three stared in shock and fear at him. Alexander stood tall and imposing, dressed impeccably, clearly indicating he was no ordinary man. His face, striking yet terrifyingly stern, exuded an intimidating aura.

The moment Alexander stepped inside, he said, "Where are they?"

"Who?" The man of the house stood up and asked.

"The people you rescued!" Alexander's voice was extremely cold. If one listened closely, they could hear a slight tremor in his voice.

The man pointed to a door with a curtain on his right. "In there."

Before he even finished speaking, Alexander had already taken a big step towards the door, yanked the curtain aside, and walked in.

"Honey, who is this man?" The woman finally dared to stand up and walk over to her husband, clutching his sleeve. "Didn't you call the police? Why haven't they come?"

Just then, several more men with an extraordinary presence entered their home. "Who are you?" The head of the household asked, bewildered.

"We mean no harm. Just now..." Owen hadn't finished speaking when they heard Alexander calling him, "Owen, get in here!"

When Owen entered, the first thing he saw was Saskia crying uncontrollably. She had woken up just a few minutes before they arrived.

When she saw Victoria lying motionless on the bed, Saskia was in a daze for a long time before she remembered what had happened.

Saskia was thrown into a panic at the sight of Victoria's fresh, bleeding wounds. No matter how much she called out to Victoria, there was no response.

The family that had rescued them told her they had already called the police. Saskia wanted to call Alexander, but the family didn't have a phone.

Seeing Victoria's face getting paler, Saskia couldn't wait any longer. Just as she was about to get up and ask the family where she could make a call, she heard a familiar voice. Seeing Alexander arrive, Saskia finally felt relieved.

Owen then turned his attention to Victoria, who was still lying on the bed, his brow furrowing. Without hesitation, Owen took out his medical kit.

Owen quickly administered a special solution to Victoria, then examined her wounds. His face turned serious. "We need to get her to the hospital immediately for surgery to clean the wounds and a blood transfusion."

"Sir, the helicopter is here," Dylan said as he ran in.

Alexander's face was tense. Not wanting to waste a second, he immediately took off his coat, wrapped it around Victoria, and carried her out in large strides.

"Let's go," Owen said, following closely with Saskia. The family of three watched as the group came and left in a hurry.

Quentin stayed behind to handle some matters. After all, this family had saved Victoria and Saskia. They had to show their gratitude, especially since Alexander had broken their door.

"Sorry, my boss was too worried about his wife and mother, so he might have acted impulsively," Quentin said, glancing apologetically at the damaged wooden door.

"Don't worry, we'll compensate you," Quentin said politely. "Also, thank you for saving my boss's wife and mother. If you have any requests, just let us know."

The couple exchanged glances, unsure of what to say. Quentin said, "It's okay, you can contact me anytime once you've thought it over." He handed them his business card. "Here's my card; it includes my phone number."

The man took the card, glanced at it, and although he didn't understand what company it was, he nodded.

On the helicopter, Alexander held Victoria tightly in his arms, his cheek pressed against her forehead. As long as he could feel warmth from her body, he could suppress the fear in his heart.

No one knew that when he first saw Victoria lying on that simple wooden bed, her face pallid and lifeless, his heart had momentarily stopped. His hands were trembling, his whole body was trembling. If he hadn't felt Victoria's faint breath, Alexander would have thought she was gone.

Owen checked Saskia's injuries. They were mostly minor wounds and bruises, nothing life-threatening, but a full medical examination was still necessary to be sure.

"Saskia, these wounds will heal in a few days," Owen said.

Saskia glanced at Victoria, who was being held by her son, her eyes full of pain, and sighed. "Victoria was so badly injured, I don't know where she found the strength to pull me out of that deep, fast-flowing water."

Owen said, "Wasn't it that family who rescued you and Victoria?"

Saskia shook her head. When she first woke up, she thought so too, but they told her they had found them on the shore.

Owen looked at the unconscious Victoria. Her wounds were clearly inflicted before she fell into the water, and they had been soaked in the river, which wasn't exactly clean.

Normally, someone falling from such a height into the river would have passed out, especially with the impact of the explosion before the fall. Yet Victoria had managed to stay conscious in the fast-flowing river and bring Saskia to shore. He wondered just how strong Victoria's willpower was, or rather, how strong her will to survive was.

Victoria's bleeding had temporarily stopped, but it wouldn't hold for long, so they needed to get to the hospital as soon as possible.

The Cleveland Clinic had already made all the necessary preparations. Soon, Victoria was taken into the operating room.

"Director, the patient's blood levels aren't rising." Owen personally performed the surgery to stitch and stop the bleeding. Her condition was too unique, and with a significant figure waiting outside, Owen couldn't trust anyone else with the task.

The director replied, "Keep the transfusion going." But they faced a problem. Victoria had a rare blood type, and their blood bank's supply was limited. They needed to source more, but there wasn't enough time.

A nurse said, "We're running out of RH-negative blood."

Owen's face changed. "Didn't I tell you to prepare enough?"

"We prepared the normal amount, thinking it would be sufficient."

Owen didn't hesitate. "Go, tell the man outside who looks like he's lost his soul. He'll know what to do."

The nurse replied, ''Okay.''
