Chapter 438 The Failed Marriage Alliance
Victoria felt an instant sense of relief when she saw Marigold and George being taken away by Owen.
Seeing Alexander, she let her guard down, and the pain in her body grew even more intense.
"Alexander, what about him?" At this moment, Gideon walked over and pointed to Ronnie lying on the ground.
Alexander didn't even look up. "If he's not dead, take him back. If he is, make sure he dies even more miserably!"
Gideon remained silent.
He glanced at the disheveled Victoria, relieved that she was okay, otherwise...
At this moment, a helicopter hovered over the cliff and landed on a clearing.
Alexander picked her up, and she instinctively let out a muffled groan.
Alexander paused, frowning. "What's wrong?"
She bit her lip and simply said, "It hurts."
He had just checked her for injuries, but apart from her arm, he hadn't seen any other wounds.
His gaze fell on the wooden stick scattered on the ground, and he suddenly realized something, his expression instantly darkened. Then he quickened his pace.
Hospital.
All three were sent to the operating room one after another.
Victoria suddenly passed out on the helicopter.
Doctor said, "Mr. Howard, your wife is fine now."
Alexander frowned as he looked at Victoria lying quietly on the bed, pursing his lips. "Why did she faint?"
The doctor, an elderly professor, replied, "Your wife has likely been under prolonged stress. The sudden transition to a completely relaxed environment may have caused her to lose consciousness."
"She has multiple soft tissue contusions, and the injuries to her back and abdomen need careful attention. Her right hand is severely bruised and turning purple. Fortunately, you arrived in time; otherwise, she might have lost the use of her hand. She will need at least a month of rest to recover," he added.
Alexander listened quietly and attentively to the doctor's instructions, remembering each one.
The doctor gave a few more instructions before leaving with his assistant and nurse.
Suddenly, the entire ward was left with just her and him.
Alexander stood by the bedside, looking down at her.
A trace of an unnoticeable emotion appeared in his eyes.
After a while, he turned and left.
Kimberly, Winter, and Eugene were standing at the door.
"Mr. Howard, how is Mrs. Howard?" Kimberly bit her lip and asked.
Alexander glanced at her but said nothing.
Kimberly thought to herself that she would definitely not escape punishment this time. It was her fault for not protecting Victoria.
Alexander just said, "Take good care of her; I need to go out for a while."
Winter and Eugene had met Alexander before.
But they were still a bit scared of him at this moment, though they were more worried about Victoria's condition.
Eugene also regretted separating from them to look for someone.
Otherwise, Victoria and Marigold wouldn't have been in trouble.
One was still unconscious, and the other was still in the operating room.
Russell had been guarding the operating room door, along with Thomas.
Thomas had gone to check on Victoria before coming here to keep watch.
At the same time, he had informed Arnold, who was attending an engagement party in Aidamore.
When he called Arnold, the other end was bustling with chaos because the groom-to-be, Bryan, had disappeared at the critical moment.
Someone had seen Bryan leaving the hotel with a woman from the backstage of the wedding venue.
He still hadn't been found.
This was supposed to be a union between Aidamore and the Kingdom of Serenia. The two countries already had some tensions; they wanted to use this opportunity to ease them.
But Bryan had gone missing.
Everyone had expected Kade to lose his temper on the spot, but he calmly said to the Hayes family and the First Lady of the Kingdom of Serenia, Anouk, "It seems Aidamore doesn't have the good fortune to marry your Windsor Family's child. Since my son has no intention of marrying, I won't force him."
In an instant, the Windsor Family's faces turned unpleasant.
But being of noble status, they didn't cause a scene.
However, this engagement party had been grandly organized, and almost everyone in Aidamore and the Kingdom of Serenia knew about it.
Now, canceling it would have some impact.
"What the hell is Bryan up to?" Cedric stood in the crowd, watching the scene on the stage, his eyebrows furrowed.
Standing beside him were Seraphim and others, while Arnold had gone to take a call.
Chloe and Cressida were surrounding 'Victoria,' one on each side.
Sarah stood next to Seraphim, watching the scene, unsure of what to say.
"Vicky, why aren't you looking me in the eye today?" Chloe asked, puzzled.
Cressida Hamilton was even more puzzled. Vicky was acting distant today. And she kept getting distracted while talking to her.
"Yeah, why are you acting so strange today? Are you feeling unwell?" Cressida asked.
Nancy, who was pretending to be 'Victoria,' felt helpless.
Victoria hadn't told Nancy that these two beauties were so enthusiastic?
She was having a hard time dealing with it.
Seraphim pretended not to know anything and let her handle it.
At this moment, Arnold returned with a heavy expression.
"What's wrong?" Cedric asked, noticing his unusual expression.
"Something happened." He avoided the others and whispered to the two, "Alexander called. George has been rescued, but he's still in the operating room."
Seraphim was stunned and almost blurted out, "What about Vicky?"
But then he remembered that 'Victoria' was right there.
Cedric frowned. "Who rescued him?"
Arnold replied, "Alexander just told us to go over."
George had been captured by the 103 organization, and he and Arnold had been searching for him for a long time without success.
And the only ones who knew about it besides him and Arnold were Victoria.
The two then looked at 'Victoria', who was surrounded by Chloe and Cressida.
Something was off. George had been rescued, and Vicky was still so calm here?
She couldn't possibly not know the news.
After all, she had been the one leading the search for George.
Kingdom of Serenia.
Shadow Reapers' temporary training base.
"Alexander, you're here." Gideon had been waiting for him.
"How is Victoria?" he asked.
After dealing with the cliff incident, he had brought the people back here and hadn't been to the hospital yet.
"She's asleep." Alexander pursed his thin lips and asked in a low, cold voice, "Where is Ronnie?"
Gideon immediately replied, "He was just checked; he's not dead. The bullet has been removed, and the wound has been treated. He's currently locked in the basement darkroom."
After hearing this, Alexander headed towards the basement.
