Chapter 198 Something Happened

Landon saw Alexander's face do a complete 180 right in front of him.

Victoria had just come downstairs, and Alexander spotted her right away. He got up and made a beeline for her.

"Why don't you catch some more Z's?" Alexander said, gently running his hand through her hair.

His eyes were all soft and mushy, and his voice was dripping with sweetness.

Victoria cleared her throat, feeling a bit awkward. Last night, Alexander had kept her up till midnight, but with Landon moving in, she felt too embarrassed to sleep in.

"I'm starving, can't sleep," she said.

Alexander caught the shy look in her eyes.

To everyone else, Victoria was this strong, gorgeous woman, but with him, she showed this cute, bashful side that he absolutely adored.

Landon, chilling on the couch, watched the whole thing and suddenly thought agreeing to Saskia's request to come here was a dumb move.

Was he, a single dude, supposed to watch their lovey-dovey show every day? Ugh, no thanks.

He figured Saskia's real plan wasn't for him to keep an eye on things but to watch Alexander and Victoria being all cozy, hoping he'd get so sick of it he'd go find a girlfriend.

In the end, Landon didn't get the boot and stayed put like he wanted.

That afternoon, Alan and the crew were heading back to Country M, so Victoria went to see them off.

"Alan, you got something to say?" Victoria noticed he seemed off, which was so not like him.

A weird look flashed in Alan's eyes but vanished quick.

He always had that gentle smile on.

"Nah, just make sure to send me a wedding invite," he said, keeping his feelings in check.

Victoria never called him out on his feelings, not wanting to make things weird. This way worked just fine.

It seemed they had a silent agreement to never bring it up.

"Of course, you've always been like a brother to me," she said.

Hearing that, Alan couldn't deny the sting in his heart, having loved Victoria for so long.

He knew if he confessed now, he'd lose her for good, so he let it slide.

Like always, Alan patted her head and smiled. "I'll be waiting for that invite."

Victoria didn't flinch, just nodded. "Okay."

Neither of them noticed someone snapping pics from behind a pillar not far from the airport.

As soon as Victoria stepped out of the airport, her phone rang. It was Wesley.

She picked up, and Wesley's urgent voice came through, "Ms. Kennedy, something's up."

Outside the operating room at Cleveland Clinic...

Victoria had just stepped out of the elevator and saw Lila pacing back and forth, trying to keep her cool.

Wesley spotted her right away. "Ms. Kennedy."

Lila saw her too and called out, "Victoria."

Victoria walked over, gave her a hug, and patted her back. "Don't stress, with Owen on the case, she'll be alright."

Lila never saw this coming.

Half an hour ago, Donna's wire snapped on set, and she took a tumble. Luckily, it wasn't too high, and there were foam mats, but her leg still got messed up. They didn't know how bad it was, but her leg was bleeding when they rushed her to the hospital.

Just then, Patrick came rushing out of the elevator. "Ms. Kennedy, Ms. Scott, Donna's injury is all over the news."

Wesley whipped out his phone, opened Instagram, and handed it to Victoria.

#Famous actress Donna falls from a wire on set, condition unknown!#

"I told the crew to keep this under wraps," Lila said, her face going pale. News like this would freak out the fans and hurt the crew's rep.

"The director called me earlier. It wasn't the crew; probably some fans who were visiting," Patrick explained.

"Get the PR team on it, shut this down," Lila ordered.

Victoria scrolled through the news and then said, "Let it ride. If someone wants to play this game, we'll play along."

Lila looked at her, confused. "You think someone did this on purpose?"

Wesley and Patrick were also caught off guard by her words.

Victoria had pieced it together on her way to the hospital, but seeing the news confirmed it.

She quickly laid out her suspicions.

Patrick then asked, "If someone leaked Donna's injury to stir things up, was her accident also planned?"

Everyone went quiet for a moment, and Patrick continued, "From what I know, the theater where Donna works has never had an accident, especially with wire work. The director is super strict about it. And here's what I don't get, why was there a long nail on the foam mat where Donna fell? I can't believe something that dangerous would be there by accident."

Lila's face grew more serious. The more they talked, the weirder it seemed.

Patrick's points were all things Victoria had thought about; it all felt too convenient.

"If someone did this on purpose, they must really hate Donna to want her hurt," Wesley said, frowning.

Patrick looked serious and puzzled. "Donna's always been chill, never really had beef with anyone since she got into the industry." He paused and added, "Except for that spat with Julia last time, there's nothing else."
