Chapter 138 Victoria's Crisis

After Alexander, Caleb and Garrett also spotted Victoria in the Land Rover.

Caleb slammed on the brakes. "Did I see that right? Was Victoria driving that car?" he asked Garrett, who was in the passenger seat.

They wanted to stop her, but the car was too fast.

"It was her, but why is she speeding?" Garrett said, frowning.

Then, they saw Alexander jump into the driver's seat and take off after the black Land Rover.

What's going on?

They sensed something was wrong.

Marcus ran towards their car. "Why is Alexander driving now?" Caleb asked.

"We just got word there's a bomb in Neil's car, the one Mrs. Howard drove away," Marcus said urgently.

"Holy crap!" Caleb shouted.

Garrett was stunned but quickly turned around to chase them.

Victoria noticed a car chasing her. When she saw the license plate, she was shocked. She tried to brake but found they weren't working.

Her face darkened. Something was wrong with the car. Neil couldn't have known she'd be driving, so the brake failure was meant for him.

She gripped the steering wheel tightly. Damn it! She had been careless!

She realized she couldn't slow down. She picked up her phone to call Alexander. She wasn't sure if he was in the car behind her, but it was clearly his car.

Before she could dial, she heard a ticking sound, like a countdown timer.

She froze. It was a bomb countdown. She never expected someone would want to kill Neil, and now she might take the fall.

She saw a black box under the passenger seat with red numbers ticking away. The bomb had just been activated.

Without thinking further, she dialed Alexander's number.

Alexander, closely following behind, looked at the car in front of him, his brows furrowing deeper. She was driving an off-roader, and even with his skills, catching up would take time. He hadn't expected her to be such a good driver.

"Mr. Howard, the phone," Quentin said as it rang.

"Answer it!" Alexander said.

Quentin put the call on speaker. "Honey, it's me," Victoria said.

"There's a bomb in the car. Pull over now. I'm right behind you," Alexander said urgently.

Hearing his tense voice, Victoria felt at ease. He was okay, and the car behind her was indeed his.

"I'm just glad you're okay," she muttered.

Alexander didn't know why she was driving Neil's car. He just wanted her to stop and be safe.

"Sweetie, I'm fine. Just stop the car," Alexander said.

"Honey, I'm sorry. The brakes are shot. I can't stop it," Victoria said.

Alexander's heart skipped a beat. He gripped the steering wheel tightly, feeling fear for the first time in his life.

Meanwhile, in a city center apartment, a man sat at the bar, swirling red wine, listening to his subordinate.

"Our people didn't see Neil come out, but they saw Victoria drive away in that car," the subordinate said.

The man's swirling motion stopped, surprise in his eyes. Victoria was lucky to escape from Neil.

He smiled wickedly. "It seems even God wants Neil to live a few more days."

"So what now? Victoria drove off in that busted car," the subordinate asked.

The man smiled evilly. "If someone wants to die in his place, let her!"

Victoria suddenly said to Alexander on the phone, "Honey, do you trust me?"

Alexander's heart was conflicted. He was scared and didn't dare to risk her life.
