Chapter 344 Victoria, I Like You
No matter how harsh Caspian's words were, Grant just furrowed his brow a bit. He didn't show any other emotion and kept eating in silence.
Lila admired Grant's patience. For a moment, she felt sorry for him, thinking he seemed so lonely. Meanwhile, the vibe at Howard Villa was totally different from that of the Scott family.
At Howard Villa, even though there weren't many people, everyone had a smile on their face. The house was decked out with a strong Christmas vibe, and Victoria felt like she hadn't experienced such a festive Christmas in ages. And it was all thanks to Alexander.
Alexander had given the family a heads-up about bringing Victoria back, so Saskia had the kitchen whip up some light dishes.
Victoria got it right away when she saw the table full of food. She never thought she'd feel at home in this house again. Being loved and cared for felt like being back before she was five years old.
The family happily finished their Christmas meal and gathered in the living room to chat and play. Since Victoria arrived, Alaric had been trying to stick close to her. But Alexander was always on guard, not letting him get too close.
This year's Christmas gathering was the most complete for the Howard family, with two new members: Victoria and Alaric.
Cynthia watched Alaric looking longingly at Victoria, like his favorite toy had been taken away. She couldn't figure out why Alaric was so attached to Victoria. Alaric wasn't afraid of strangers, but he wouldn't usually cling to someone he just met.
"Alaric, do you like Victoria that much?" Cynthia picked him up, placed him on her lap, and pinched his chubby little face.
Alaric finally turned to look at his mom and nodded. "Yes." After a few seconds, he added, "Very much."
Cynthia was speechless. Landon, standing nearby, couldn't help but say, "You little guy, do you even know what liking someone means?"
Alaric turned to look at him. "Landon, I don't know. Can you tell me?" His big round eyes sparkled.
"Come here." Landon beckoned him with a finger. "I'll tell you."
Without a second thought, Alaric wriggled out of Cynthia's arms and crawled over to Landon on the sofa.
"You little rascal, don't teach Alaric bad things," Cynthia scolded.
Landon replied, "Cynthia, don't worry. He's just a kid; he won't understand these things." Landon had no idea that Alaric would soon get him into trouble.
"Do you want to rest for a while?" Alexander asked, worried as he saw Victoria sitting for a long time. "Are you feeling uncomfortable anywhere?" He asked her these two questions every hour.
"I'm fine; don't be so nervous," Victoria reassured him, knowing he was worried. She was indeed fine, just feeling a bit of pain from her wound, but it was bearable.
Suddenly, a small figure appeared in front of her. He had approached while Alexander wasn't paying attention. Alaric was very considerate; he knew Victoria was injured, so he didn't pounce on her.
"What's up?" Victoria asked, seeing him holding a delicate little box, looking at her, his round chubby face very cute.
Alaric blinked his eyes and said in his sweet, childlike voice, "Victoria, I like you."
Victoria was a bit taken aback, then she smiled and pinched Alaric's chubby little face. "I like you too."
Meanwhile, Alexander furrowed his brow slightly, sensing that things weren't that simple. Then, everyone heard Alaric's childish voice. "Victoria, this is for you." His small hands held the little box and handed it to Victoria.
Victoria looked at the box and then at him, asking softly, "What's this?"
"This is all my money." Alaric smacked his lips and said, "Landon just said that if you like someone, you should give them all your valuable things."
Victoria was shocked.
"Besides, I want to marry you when I grow up," Alaric said a lot in one breath, getting more and more excited. "Landon said if you like someone, you should marry them, but I'm still small. When I grow as tall as Landon, I can marry you."
The more Victoria listened, the more she wanted to laugh, but the man beside her looked increasingly displeased.
"You're so cute." Victoria pinched Alaric's face again. If she weren't injured, she would have hugged him.
Alexander wasn't petty enough to argue with a little kid, so he directed his displeasure at someone else. "After Christmas, go to work at the company!"
Everyone knew who he was talking to without asking. Landon's face changed. "No, Alexander, I'm not suited for working at the company."
Alexander looked uncompromising. "Not suited? Then slowly get suited! I have plenty of time to let you adjust."
Before Landon could retort, Alexander continued, "If you choose not to go, it's fine. I will cancel all the cards in your name!"
Landon looked to the elders in the room for help, but none of them paid him any attention. Gideon shrugged at him, as if to say, "Looking at me won't help." Landon was desperate. To avoid starving, he had no choice.
Victoria stayed in the hospital for another three days, with Alexander by her side almost constantly.
During these days, Victoria didn't mention wanting to go out, staying in the ward all day, because she didn't dare.
The day before Christmas, she begged Alexander to stay at the Howard Villa, and he reluctantly agreed. Who knew that in the middle of the night, Victoria started to have a fever.
The reason for her cold was that Victoria's immune system was already weakened, rendering her wound susceptible to infection and resulting in the fever. Fortunately, Lila would come by to chat with her from time to time.
Victoria kept herself busy. She had to think about how to settle the score with Clara once she got out. Suddenly, Victoria remembered the perfume contest in about a week, which gave her enough time.
"Honey, can I discuss something with you?" Victoria called out to Alexander, who was already processing documents on the sofa.
Luckily, she had handed Horizon Group over to Wesley; otherwise, she would be as busy as Alexander.
"Want to go out? No way." Alexander glanced at Victoria and then continued with his documents.
