Chapter 37 Lila Teases Victoria

Alexander's breath tickled her ear, but that was the least of her worries.

The real shock was what he had just said.

"How do you know that?" Victoria whispered, terrified.

He knew about the small red mole on her chest and another on her butt. How could he know such private details?

Alexander tilted his head slightly, a faint smile on his lips, his deep eyes teasing as he stared at her.

He moved closer, his lips brushing her earlobe, both intentionally and not.

Her whole body stiffened, feeling a chill, purely a reflex.

Alexander's deep, magnetic voice, full of temptation, whispered in her ear again.

"Because I personally changed your diapers before you were two," he said, stressing "personally."

Victoria was stunned!

So that was how he knew!

No wonder he said they were even.

This was probably the most embarrassing moment of her life!

After saying that, Alexander sat up straight, started the car, and drove off.

Victoria took a long time to process this, only accepting it when she got back to her apartment. After all, she had seen his naked photos.

"But you were only five years old then, how could you..." She trailed off, but she knew Alexander understood.

After parking the car, Alexander turned to her, calmly saying, "Because I've been smart since I was a kid."

Victoria was silent.

His tone and demeanor were self-satisfied and aloof, but coming from Alexander, it felt different. Indeed, anything a handsome man said wouldn't come off as annoying.

The next day.

Horizon Group.

CEO's Office.

"Isn't this straight out of a novel or TV drama?"

Lila slouched on the office sofa, gazing enviously at Victoria.

"No wonder Alexander is so shrewd in business; his cunning is unmatched," Lila sighed.

Then she raised an eyebrow and said, "But why do I find it kind of romantic?"

Victoria glanced at her, thinking Lila had a skewed idea of romance.

Lila continued, "Think about it. He's liked you since childhood, never swayed by the outside world, always faithful to you. That's rare. Such endurance and patience are hard to find.

"He's been single for over twenty years for you. That's what I envy."

Hearing this, Victoria smiled, recalling what Saskia had said last night, that the men of the Howard family are all devoted.

Seeing Victoria smile, Lila couldn't help but say, "Wise, handsome, rich, powerful, gentle, and devoted. I won't find another man like your husband. I'm destined to be single."

Victoria looked up at her and teased, "You, a member of the Scott family, afraid nobody would like you?"

"Those guys are just after my looks and the Scott family's power. They're not worth it," Lila immediately complained.

Filled with longing, Lila said, "I want a guy who's had a crush on me since childhood to say, 'I've been planning this for a long time.' I'd marry him right away!"

Victoria shook her head. "I hope you won't back out when the time comes."

She knew Lila was just talking big.

"You both went back to Howard Villa last night but didn't stay over? Are you really married?" Lila asked, puzzled.

Victoria thought for a moment, remembering what Alexander had said before getting out of the car last night.

Alexander had held her hand, his deep eyes looking at her. "Move in with me, or I'll move in with you."

She was in a daze, not ready to live together.

Alexander reassured her, "Don't worry, I won't have sex with you until you're ready. I just want to get to know you better and take care of you. You'll have to get used to my presence sooner or later."

Seeing Victoria lost in thought, Lila called out to her a few times but got no response. She walked over to Victoria.

"Wake up, thinking about Alexander?" Lila said, leaning in.

Victoria snapped back to reality and gave her a helpless look.

"I'm not ready," she said slowly.

Lila immediately scolded her, "You're silly. Alexander is good-looking, in great shape, and so many women want to be with him. Yet, you rejected him. What a missed opportunity!"

Victoria was silent. She felt she couldn't continue this topic with Lila.

In the end, she had to push Lila out of the office and lock the door.

Lila called out from the door, "Dear, listen to me; do it with him soon; don't drag it out."

Victoria was silent.

Then, she called Thalia at the nursing home, telling her about her and Alexander, and their visit to Howard Villa.

Thalia was very happy to hear this.

"Good, as long as you two get along well, I'm happy," Thalia said, satisfied.

Victoria had a question in mind, 'How did Thalia get in touch with the Howard family and arrange this blind date?'

"Grandma Davis, can I ask you a question?" Victoria asked.

Before she could ask, Thalia anticipated her question.

"You want to know how I arranged this blind date with the Howard family, right?" Thalia said.

"Yes."

A look of surprise flashed in Victoria's eyes as Thalia answered her question. She hadn't expected it to be like this.

At the nursing home, a middle-aged woman dressed simply walked up to Thalia, holding a blanket. She knelt down to cover Thalia with it, nagging, "You know you get cold easily, yet you don't keep yourself warm. Victoria will scold you again."

Thalia, looking unconcerned, her face marked by time, was full of smiles. "Mia, Victoria just called me."

This was Mia, who had been taking care of Thalia for decades. After Thalia left the Kennedy family, Mia had followed her.

Seeing the uncontrollable happiness in Thalia's eyes and on her face, Mia asked happily, "Did Victoria tell you another funny joke to make you happy?"
