Chapter 81 Romance Exposed, Engagement Announced
"Alright, enough. I heard everything," Lucas interrupted Julia.
"Lucas, it's bad enough you're blind, but now you're deaf?" Lila snapped. "Why are you blaming Victoria? Clara started it!"
She was speechless. How could he be so awful? Lucas was there the whole time and heard everything, yet still, he blamed Victoria.
"If you want to defend your mistress, just say so!" Lila fumed. "Don't falsely accuse Victoria."
Others might fear his status as the Tudor heir, but she didn't!
Lucas didn't expect Lila to defend Victoria so fiercely.
And Lila's use of "mistress" got everyone curious. Who was Lucas's mistress?
The ones clashing with Victoria were Julia and Clara. Julia was Lucas's cousin, so that left Clara. Was Clara Lucas's mistress?
Holy crap!
This was shocking!
Wasn't Lucas engaged to Victoria? How did Clara get involved?
Did Clara get engaged to him after Victoria broke it off?
This was unbelievable!
"Victoria broke off the engagement, which left you no right to interfere!" Lila glanced at Clara, whose face was pale, and smirked. "Keep your mistress in check and stop slandering Victoria."
With that glance, everyone understood.
"You bitch, stop calling her a mistress. Lucas and Clara have always been together. They've been in love since high school, okay?" Julia blurted out without thinking.
Lucas and Clara were stunned.
They didn't expect Julia to spill the beans!
Lila smiled, and then sighed, ignoring Julia's insult.
She blinked, pretending to be surprised but with a smile. "So Clara's the mistress? I didn't say it."
Julia realized she had fallen into a trap. She knew Lucas and Clara's relationship was supposed to be secret.
"'Been in love since high school? Always been together?" Lila repeated Julia's words.
People started murmuring, "Wasn't Lucas engaged to Victoria since they were kids? How did he end up with Clara?"
Someone said, "Yeah, he had a fiancée, which made it basically cheating, right?"
Another added, "There were rumors Victoria was trying to steal Clara's boyfriend, but it turns out that it's not the end of the story."
Someone else said, "So Victoria's breakup post on Insta was actually because Clara stole her man, huh?"
Lucas and Clara became the center of gossip.
His face couldn't have looked worse.
Julia didn't expect this and was too scared to speak. Lucas would definitely scold her later.
Seeing the situation escalate, Lucas knew it was impossible to clear things up now.
He walked over to Clara, pulled her into his arms, and admitted, "Yes, Clara and I have been in love for years and will be getting engaged next month. We will invite you all then."
Victoria squinted, showing no particular emotion.
No one saw that engagement announcement coming.
Clara was shocked but then felt a rush of happiness. She nestled into Lucas's arms, looking up at him with deep affection, and he gazed back at her with love.
Everyone watched their tender moment, unsure what to say. Some couldn't accept it, but no one dared speak up due to the Tudor family's status. Meanwhile, someone secretly posted a video of the scene online.
Clara didn't expect this turn of events. With Lucas announcing their engagement, she no longer had to hide and could go public with him.
What was supposed to be an exchange event turned into a stage for them to flaunt their love.
"Who would've thought Clara would come out on top!" Lila muttered.
Victoria and her group left the Golden Crown Hotel, and Lila fumed over Clara's smug look earlier.
Victoria said calmly, "Lucas had no choice. If he admits it now, he has to deal with the fallout."
"Victoria, what was that all about?" Colin, still in shock, asked. He always thought she was doing well in the Kennedy family, but clearly, that wasn't the case.
Victoria glanced at Ignatius, who was clinging to her side, then looked at Colin and said, "I'm fine. Don't worry."
Seeing her calm expression, Colin felt reassured.
"By the way, the piece Clara played earlier, you wrote that, didn't you?" Colin asked, more of a statement than a question.
Victoria nodded.
"But how did she get your music sheet?" Colin asked, puzzled.
Victoria squinted her almond-shaped eyes. She had thought Clara only took a few pages she left in her room, but it turned out Clara had also picked up what she had thrown in the trash and kept it until now.
"That was a draft I threw in the trash!" Victoria explained.
Colin understood and instantly lost any respect for Clara. Plagiarizing so blatantly, even if she played well, her character was lacking. How could someone like that get into the association? Dream on!
"In that case, Ignatius's upcoming release can't be used," the male assistant beside them said, frowning.
"Release it, why not! Ignatius has practiced so hard, there's no way we're giving up now." Victoria looked at Ignatius, who was standing obediently by her side, and reached out to smooth his bangs, speaking fondly.
She had plenty of ways to prove herself; she just hadn't bothered before. But now things were different.
Ignatius looked at her and smiled.
Colin nodded in agreement.
After dinner, Victoria sent them back to the hotel. Ignatius kept holding onto her, not wanting her to leave. She promised multiple times to visit him tomorrow before he finally let go.
"Hey, is Ignatius mentally unstable?" Lila finally asked the question she had been holding in.
Victoria, sitting in the car, thought for a moment. "He has autism and social anxiety, but he's much better now. As long as he's not stressed out, it's no big deal. He had a high fever before, which left him mentally like a child, but fortunately, his intelligence is fine." She turned to look at Lila. "He's just sensitive and can't handle new spots for too long. He needs company, but otherwise, he's just like anyone else."
"How did he end up like this?" Lila asked.
