Chapter 301 Have You Forgotten Who My Husband is?
The office was way too quiet.
Grant squinted and said, "She's my wife, legally!"
Victoria didn't seem impressed, just a tiny smile on her face. "But from what I hear, you two are getting a divorce."
Grant didn't say anything.
Victoria went on, "And I heard Marlowe already signed. Twice, actually."
Grant shot back, "As long as I haven't signed, it's not happening!"
Victoria nodded. "Grant, have you ever stopped to think why Marlowe wants a divorce?"
Grant's lips tightened, and his brows furrowed.
Victoria knew he hadn't thought about it at all. She sighed to herself and said, "I got the scoop from Alexander and Lila. For the past five years, your attitude towards her has been pretty clear. Only you know why you agreed to marry her. Time can heal, but it can also cut. If you use it right, it heals everything; if not, it cuts everything off."
Victoria figured Grant got what she meant and kept going, "When someone who never makes decisions lightly suddenly does, it means they've made up their mind and are completely let down by the person who made them decide. In other words, they see no hope."
A sharp pain hit his chest, and it felt like something was blocking his lungs, making it hard to breathe. For the first time, Grant felt this weird sensation from just one sentence.
He didn't know why, it just felt off.
Victoria had said a lot, and Grant just replied, "Power and hope are only for the strong."
Victoria's forehead twitched a bit. Was she talking to a brick wall?
No one told her Grant was this stubborn! But it did fit his image—bossy and wild.
She answered calmly, "Fine, go ahead and play the strong one."
The message was clear: he should continue looking for Marlowe, since he believed he was invincible.
Grant stayed quiet.
After that, Victoria leaned back on the sofa and looked at her phone. It was clear she was done talking.
Grant hadn't seen this coming. He had to lower his pride because Victoria was too good at hiding people. His guys couldn't even find a general area. "If you tell me, I'll agree to any of your demands."
"Without limits," he added.
Victoria slowly looked up, her eyes as calm as a still lake.
Grant thought she'd agree. After all, he rarely made promises, and they were hard to come by. Anyone would agree. But he forgot Victoria wasn't just anyone.
"I don't need it, thanks." She smiled a bit. "Grant, have you forgotten who my husband is?"
Whatever she wanted, Alexander would give her; she didn't need anyone else.
Grant was silent. For the first time, he felt that talking to a woman was harder than negotiating a multi-billion-dollar deal.
When Alexander finished the last shareholders' meeting of the year and got back to his office, he saw his wife and his good friend sitting on his office sofa, and it was clear the air was tense.
Everyone knew that while he could offend his friend, his wife must not be wronged.
When Alexander walked in, Victoria's previously calm and cold face lit up like a flower in the sun. She stood up and greeted him with a smile. "Honey, you're back."
Alexander walked over, wrapped his arm around her waist, and kissed her forehead. "Have you been waiting long?"
She shook her head. "It's been a bit, and I'm kinda hungry."
Alexander chuckled, "Alright, I'll feed you when we get home."
Victoria perked up, "Can I order food then?"
Alexander nodded, "Of course, whatever you want."
He playfully tapped her nose, his eyes full of warmth and affection.
They both ignored Grant on the sofa and kept chatting. Grant's face was sour, his brows furrowed tight.
Then a snarky voice cut through the room. "So people really do have two sides. Today’s been quite the eye-opener."
Alexander and Victoria looked over, meeting Grant's resentful gaze, but they still chose to ignore him.
Alexander said bluntly, "If you're jealous, just say it. No one will laugh at you."
Grant snorted, raising an eyebrow. "Where did you get that idea?"
Alexander didn't argue, just smiled.
"Instead of wasting time here, you should spend more time looking for Marlowe," Alexander added. "It's pretty sad to be all alone."
Grant's eyes darkened. "Alexander, are you looking for trouble?"
Alexander raised an eyebrow, a hint of challenge in his voice. "Do you want to fight me?"
Before Grant could answer, he quickly added, "But I don't want to fight you, not because I'm scared."
He paused, then looked at Victoria in his arms, a wicked smile on his lips, "But because I want to save my energy to serve my baby."
Victoria was speechless. She didn't want to get his last sentence, but she did in a second.
Grant felt provoked by Alexander. Every word he spoke was flaunting his wife Victoria, but it was also mocking Grant. Grant realized that coming to this couple was a mistake. He couldn't fathom why he didn't leave after Victoria didn't give him an answer. In the end, he was mocked by Alexander. He must be crazy to have come here!
Dylan was about to come in and ask when they would leave when he saw Grant storming out with an angry face. His heart almost jumped out of his chest!
Dylan asked casually, "Mr. Scott, are you leaving?"
To his surprise, Grant answered him, but the tone was so harsh that he wished he hadn't. He was scared.
Grant almost shouted, "Why not? Am I just going to stay here and let the two of them drive me crazy?"
Dylan was stunned and didn't dare to make a sound; he just watched Grant's back as he walked away. This was the second time he had seen Grant lose control, and it was clear that this time was even worse.
Logically, Grant and Alexander were the most composed people, never easily angered or showing other emotions, but now... Dylan had to admit, Alexander and Victoria were really something.
Downstairs, in the car, Kevin looked at Grant's unpleasant face and sighed inwardly. It was clear that this setback was even greater. Before driving, he cautiously turned his head to the back seat and swallowed, saying, "Mr. Scott, I do have a way to lure Mrs. Scott out. Do you want to hear it?"
Grant felt a burning anger, like a volcano ready to erupt.
