Chapter 290 The Significance of Mystic Hall
"Hey, could you step out too?" Victoria asked.
Alexander thought he might've misheard. He raised an eyebrow, signaling Victoria to repeat herself.
Victoria patiently repeated her request, flashing an innocent smile. Alexander was quiet for a moment before he gave in.
Outside, Caleb and the others were a bit surprised to see him come out.
Caleb teased, "Did Victoria kick you out?"
Garrett chimed in, "Guess you're not as important as you thought."
Gideon added, "Seeing you out here makes me feel a lot better."
They had just been kicked out by Alexander, and now Victoria had kicked him out. In this way, they felt a sense of equilibrium in their hearts.
Alexander's lips pressed together as he squinted his deep eyes and gave them a quick glance. He never explained himself, and this time was no different.
Inside, Victoria looked serious and focused, her eyes glued to the computer screen.
Lines of symbols flashed rapidly in her pupils, almost dizzying.
Her fingers danced on the keyboard.
The virus in the chip was her doing. It wouldn’t destroy the new product right away but would gradually infiltrate it, leading to complete destruction.
She had set the timer for six months, meaning there were about two weeks left before the virus would fully destroy the chip.
When she took the job, she didn't know it was related to Alexander. To be precise, she hadn't met Alexander yet.
She hadn't thought much about it before, but now that it involved Alexander, she wondered who had initially ordered the chip's destruction.
However, Scarlet Portal never inquired about the client's identity, as long as the task wasn't heinous or detrimental to national interests, and the remuneration was duly received.
In fact, the client had asked her to destroy the chip directly, but she had been cautious. Besides, because Mystic Hall's defense system was very strong, she couldn't destroy it directly. She could only use a virus to infiltrate slowly, and the client had agreed.
About forty minutes later, the door opened, and Victoria walked out.
'So soon?' everyone thought. They had expected to wait five or six hours.
Caleb stood up, shocked. "Victoria, did you come out to use the bathroom, or...?"
Victoria cleared her throat. "I'm done."
"What?" Caleb's voice shot up. "It's not even an hour yet."
Victoria stayed silent.
She had timed it perfectly to avoid suspicion.
In fact, she had solved it in ten minutes but had stayed inside for an extra thirty.
She herself implanted the Trojan virus; she undoubtedly knew how to remove it.
"Maybe I was just lucky," she said seriously. "You had already repaired half of it before. I just had to clear the virus source in the chip system."
Everyone fell silent.
Why did they find it hard to believe?
Alexander's deep eyes flashed with an unclear light. He then stood up, walked to her side, and gently ruffled her hair without asking anything. He simply said, "Thanks for your hard work."
Hades hurried over and excitedly said to Alexander, "Mr. Howard, the chip system is no longer malfunctioning."
Alexander showed no emotion. "Got it."
The others were dumbfounded and looked at Victoria in shock.
Was she really just lucky, or was she hiding her true abilities?
Given Victoria's past identity exposures, they were more inclined to believe the latter.
Garrett pressed his tongue against his cheek and gave Victoria a knowing look. "Everyone says you're lucky to be with Alexander, but I think he's the lucky one to have you."
Victoria just stayed quiet.
Word of her actions spread quickly through Mystic Hall.
Without hanging around, Alexander took her and left.
On the way back, Victoria asked curiously, "I saw a symbol on those two helicopters. What is it?"
Alexander replied, "Themis."
"The goddess from mythology?" Victoria asked, testing the waters.
Alexander smiled and said, "You're really smart."
No wonder it looked familiar; Ignatius had shown it to her a long time ago.
"It's because Ignatius is into mythology and showed it to me," Victoria replied. "Does it have any special meaning?"
Alexander said, "In mythology, she represents fairness and justice."
Victoria naturally continued, "So, it symbolizes law and justice?"
Alexander nodded, "Yes, and it's also the emblem of Mystic Hall."
Victoria fell into deep thought. 'If that's the meaning, then Mystic Hall isn't like the rumors suggest.'
It seemed odd to link law and justice with a notorious organization.
Mystic Hall had always been a mysterious group. You could say it was shady, but it hadn't done anything against national interests. On the flip side, if you said it was legit, it was still part of the criminal underworld. From what she knew, Mystic Hall was into arms trafficking and even controlled the K Alliance.
Her suspicions weren't just based on the logo's symbolism but also on what she had found in the chip system. She had looked into it, though not deeply.
"What are you thinking about?" Alexander's voice suddenly broke her thoughts, and she instinctively answered, "I'm thinking about the purpose of Mystic Hall."
Her words made Alexander pause for a moment.
His gaze towards Victoria, aside from the usual tenderness and affection, now also held a touch of admiration. She truly was one of a kind.
He then smiled. "It's not time for you to know yet."
Victoria was quite surprised by his answer. He didn't brush off her question but gave a straightforward response, indicating that she was half right.
After having lunch together at Starlight Diner, they parted ways.
Alexander went back to the company, and Victoria went to find out what Clara was up to.
After waiting in the private room for a while, Kimberly and Matthew arrived.
Victoria told them not to follow her too closely.
"By the way, hand over your phones," Victoria said.
Kimberly and Matthew immediately handed them over.
Two minutes later, Victoria said, "Done. I've programmed your phones." She handed the phones back to them. "Even if I lose my phone, as long as I have my earrings, you can track my location."
Kimberly and Matthew looked at Victoria's ears simultaneously. They were just two silver earrings, nothing special.
Then the three of them went to the parking lot.
Victoria casually asked, "Which car is yours?"
Matthew pointed ahead, and she followed his direction.
A white van appeared before her.
She looked at him, puzzled.
Matthew explained somewhat sheepishly, "Caesar came along too."
Victoria's mouth twitched, and she raised an eyebrow.
Her expression clearly said, "Are you kidding me?"
Matthew replied, "It insisted on coming, and Alexander allowed it."
Victoria stayed silent.
With Caesar's massive size, wouldn't it scare people?
What was Alexander thinking? She couldn't understand.
