Chapter 376 Feigning Innocence for Sympathy, Scheming Behind the Scenes
"Maybe you stole it from Clara!" Elodie once again spoke in a sharp, cutting tone.
Everyone looked at Elodie, not understanding her logic.
"Old woman, your imagination is really wild. You just say whatever comes to your mind." Someone warned her, "Slander is also a crime, old woman. Think before you speak."
Being called an old woman repeatedly made Elodie very angry.
But hearing the word "crime" made her back down.
Victoria looked at Elodie and her daughter, a faint smile on her red lips. "Oh, I forgot to tell you, I patented these formulas five years ago." She weighed the small notebook in her hand. "If these really belong to your daughter, then tell me, why hasn't she noticed all these years?"
"With her personality, if she knew her things were missing, would she stay so calm?" She sneered, "You should know your daughter's character well, right? No need for me to analyze it for you?"
Elodie pointed at her in anger but couldn't say a word.
Victoria didn't care about her frustrated expression and instead looked at Clara. "Whether it was the piano competition where we played the same piece, or the perfume contest with the same formula, I was always accused of plagiarism. Yet, I never defended myself. Do you know why?"
Clara looked at her, not understanding why she brought this up.
Every word Victoria said now seemed like a trap, so Clara pretended to know nothing. "I don't know what you're talking about."
"Whether you know or not is your business. I have the freedom to speak, and you just need to listen," Victoria said, her expression cold and her tone calm but authoritative.
Everyone was silent.
For some reason, they found this statement very powerful.
"To be honest, there was a moment back then when I really considered you my sister, but unfortunately," she paused slightly, "when you pushed Grandma down and framed me, all the good feelings I had for you disappeared."
"Don't talk nonsense, I didn't push her." Clara would never admit to these things.
Victoria didn't care; she continued speaking, "Eventually, I noticed that everything I liked and valued, you had to imitate and take. So, I decided to let you have them and became someone who didn't fight or compete. Yet, you still called me malicious and ungrateful."
"During my years with the Kennedy family, I was often criticized for even the smallest actions, like drinking a glass of water, which forced me to lead a low-profile life. In my isolation, I found solace in writing music scores and creating perfume formulas," she added.
As Victoria spoke, the tone suddenly changed, giving off a 'two-faced' vibe, both pitiful and boastful. So passing the time could lead to becoming a master in two fields?
Who wouldn't be jealous of that?
But everyone didn't find it annoying; instead, they found it quite interesting.
In the past, everyone thought she was very aloof, a cold beauty. They were surprised to see her act innocently to gain sympathy while being cunning behind the scenes—and doing it so charmingly.
For a moment, everyone realized that playing innocent to gain sympathy while being cunning wasn't necessarily bad. It depended on who was doing it.
Clara was stunned by her words.
Before she could react, she heard Victoria speak again, "The reason I didn't explain and let you use my music scores and perfume formulas all these years was to avoid trouble. After all, we're family, no need to be ruthless. Even if you slandered my reputation outside, I didn't care."
After saying this, she sighed slightly, "The path of a truly strong person is never smooth, so my achievements today are really thanks to you."
Clara listened to her words, her brows furrowed. She felt these words were very familiar, like she had heard them before.
Victoria has now said everything, leaving Clara speechless. With all the evidence laid out, anything Clara says at this point would be futile.
Victoria's counterattack today was very successful. Clara knew that after today, it would be almost impossible for her to make a comeback.
"Since you always knew, why expose me today?" She gave up struggling.
Seeing her straightforward question, Victoria answered just as openly, "Because you did something unforgivable!"
Clara immediately thought of the matter related to Christopher. She was the one who revealed Grandma's location to Christopher.
Everyone was confused by their conversation.
But they concluded one thing: Clara was shameless. How could she ask such a question?
She used Victoria's work, and she still had the nerve?
If Victoria didn't expose her, should she let Clara continue to disgust her?
At this moment, everyone's hearts were with Victoria.
All along, everyone thought Victoria was the one who bullied and schemed against her sister, and Clara was the kind and gentle one. But now, they realized they had been completely deceived by Clara's facade. She was the one with a dark and scheming mind.
Soon, they saw several people in police uniforms appear.
"Victoria, what are you going to do to me?" Clara's eyes widened as she saw three police officers walking towards the stage. She looked at Victoria in confusion.
Victoria replied, "With so many people here, what can I do to you? I'm just handing this matter over to more authoritative and professional people to investigate, so I won't be slandered by you later."
"Victoria, you little bitch! You can't do this to Clara." Elodie panicked, "Your crippled mom has already taken Clara's shares in the Kennedy Group! You can't send her to jail too."
Hearing this, Victoria's eyes darkened, a cold light flashing. She turned to Elodie. "Who did you say is crippled?"
She didn't know the current condition of Esme, who had come back to life. Alexander had tried to tell her many times, but she chose to avoid it.
Elodie was so frightened by her cold gaze that she took a step back.
"Who is Clara Kennedy?" One of the male officers scanned the people on the stage, exuding authority.
"She is." Serafina, who was closest to Clara, actively cooperated with the police and bravely pointed her out.
