Chapter 352 A Dowry of Two Hundred Million Dollars

Keith wasn't naive. Even if he didn't fully grasp the meaning now, a seed of doubt had been planted in his mind.

The couple had a minor argument in the hospital, but it led to nothing.

Instead, Keith came out looking deeply troubled.

Thora looked at him but didn't dare to speak; both of them were equally worried.

In the ward, despite being absorbed in Esme's return, Victoria heard every word from outside.

"Who would have thought that even Alexander would learn to lie?" she teased lightly, watching Alexander with long legs walk in.

Seeing her in the mood to joke, Alexander habitually reached out to touch her head. "Christopher really isn't with me."

"Really?" she responded in confusion.

Alexander smiled. "He is with Gideon."

Victoria thought, 'Gideon works for him, so isn't Christopher still under Alexander's control?'

"Have you figured it out?" Alexander asked, seeing that she seemed to be in good spirits.

She shook her head and blinked. "Didn't you say if I can't figure it out, I shouldn't bother? So, I'm not."

The more Victoria thought about it, the more frustrated and depressed she felt, like something was weighing on her chest.

In the blink of an eye, it was the seventh day after Christmas.

Four days had passed, and Victoria had been in the hospital for ten days.

"Don't scratch!" Alexander said sternly.

"But my back itches," Victoria replied.

"I'll blow on it for you."

The wounds on Victoria's back had started to scab, causing significant itchiness in some areas. When the itching occurred, she would instinctively scratch, disrupting the scabs and leading to bleeding. Due to her medical condition, even minor wounds had the potential to result in prolonged bleeding.

Victoria felt helpless. "But that makes it itchier."

When Alexander's breath brushed against her, it made her feel itchy all over, adding to her discomfort.

Alexander couldn't do anything about Victoria, so he finally had Owen bring some ointment.

To prevent Victoria from scratching herself when Alexander wasn't paying attention, he basically stayed with her all the time, chatting to distract her.

"I want to be discharged and go home; my wounds are almost healed." Victoria said.

Victoria had been in the hospital for almost half a month.

And in a few days, it would be the finals of the perfume contest. Although Victoria didn't need to prepare anything and just needed to show up, she still had to give Clara a "gift".

At this moment, Victoria was unaware of the chaos Esme had caused at the Kennedy Mansion. The day after Esme left, someone arrived to reclaim everything she had given them, with all the legal documentation in order. The Kennedy family, unable to challenge this legally, was left in despair.

The Kennedy Group became a shell overnight. Fortunately, Oliver managed to contain the situation, but it wouldn't last long. They needed a quick marriage alliance to secure the Astor family's dowry and save the company. Despite her reluctance, Clara couldn't resist Oliver's threats.

Then Oliver and Simon took Clara to the Astor Mansion.

As soon as Derek saw Clara, he clung to her.

But in front of the Astor couple and Oliver, Clara couldn't lose her temper, and Oliver's threats were still fresh in her mind.

Clara forced a smile while cursing internally, "Idiot, keep your hands off me!"

"Clara, you're beautiful. I like you," Derek said with a silly grin, perhaps a bit tongue-tied from embarrassment.

Hearing this, Clara felt nauseous and rolled her eyes internally. Still, she had to play along with Derek, even pretending to be shy as she said, "Thank you."

The two chatted intermittently while their families watched from the side, feeling very pleased.

Nico Astor and Daisy Lynn were also satisfied; they hadn't seen Derek smile in a long time.

Daisy said gracefully, "It seems our Derek really likes Clara."

Oliver agreed, "That's a blessing for our Clara." He glanced at the two interacting on the other side. "They do look quite compatible."

To Clara, Clara felt those words cut deep, filling her with hatred.. Meanwhile, Derek clinging to her was grinning happily, and Clara could only manage a fake smile. A hint of ruthless calculation flashed in her eyes.

Thus, the two families set the wedding date, first an engagement, then a wedding.

The Astor family was very generous, directly giving the Kennedy family a dowry of two hundred million dollars, which was quite extravagant.

"Oliver, how about we have dinner together tonight?" Nico suggested.

Oliver couldn't refuse, so they went to Starlight Diner.

On the way, Derek clung to Clara like glue.

In the car, it was just the two of them and the driver.

Clara glanced at the driver, then at Derek, who was grinning at her. He had a cheerful and pleasant appearance, but unfortunately, he was a fool. There was no way Clara could spend her life with someone like that.

"Derek, do you really like me?" Clara asked, her eyes softly smiling, making her look like a kind and virtuous lady.

Derek nodded vigorously without hesitation. "Yes, I really like you."

A glint flashed in Clara's eyes. "Then will you listen to everything I say?"

The driver glanced at the rearview mirror but quickly looked away.

Derek nodded vigorously again. "Yes."

Clara's lips curled slightly, and she reached out to pat his head, like petting a well-behaved puppy. "Good. As long as you listen, I'll always be with you."

The car stopped in the parking lot of Starlight Diner.

At the same time, a black Maybach also parked.

Victoria insisted on being discharged and going home, but Alexander refused and told her to make another request. She then thought of Starlight Diner, a place she hadn't visited in a long time.

Alexander considered having Starlight Diner deliver the food to the ward. But Victoria refused, saying it wouldn't feel the same. Then Alexander relented.
