Chapter 174 But I Never Said I Wouldn't Eavesdrop
Lucas forced the door open, slamming it against the wall with a loud bang.
Clara, who was half-sitting on the hospital bed, was startled.
Her pupils trembled slightly as she looked at Lucas in terror. Her whole body stiffened, and she instinctively tensed up.
Several questions surged in her mind, 'Why is he here?''What did he hear?'
Lucas walked in, full of anger.
His eyes, deep and cold, stared intensely at the bewildered Clara.
The veins on his forehead bulged, like an enraged tiger. His voice was chilling and hurtful. "Clara, you bitch!"
Clara was instantly dumbfounded. She looked at Lucas in disbelief. He actually called her a bitch. He must have heard everything.
Lucas' eyes revealed anger, disappointment, and a hint of disgust, causing her to panic and tremble.
Her eyes reddened instantly, and tears streamed down. She wanted to get up and grab his hand, but her injuries wouldn't allow her to move. Any movement would tug at her wounds.
"It's not like that, Lucas. It's not what you heard. I made it up to keep Victoria from complaining to you," Clara cried, shaking her head in panic. "You said you would always love me, always believe what I say. I'm telling the truth."
Lucas, hearing her sophistry, was full of disappointment. He wanted to believe her, and after all, he did love her as she said.
But Alfonso had already shown him the evidence, including the DNA report. The child was indeed not his.
"You say you made it up? Then tell me, what is this?" He threw the report he had been clutching in his hand forcefully in front of her.
Clara quickly grabbed the paper and saw the words [Paternity DNA Test Report.] The result was that there was no father-son relationship between the samples.
"No, this is fake. Victoria must have made a fake one to drive a wedge between us. Lucas, don't be fooled by her." Clara immediately made an excuse, still shifting the blame to Victoria.
Victoria stood there with a cold expression, completely devoid of the good demeanor she had earlier.
"It's all your fault, you bitch. You pushed me down the stairs. You killed my and Lucas' child. Now you want to ruin our relationship. You can't stand that Lucas loves me, right? You just want to take Lucas back. I'm telling you, it's impossible. Lucas will always be mine." Clara, like a mad woman, pointed at Victoria and cursed, her eyes filled with hatred and jealousy, completely losing her usual grace and elegance.
This was the first time Lucas had seen Clara like this. He was slightly stunned. She was calling bitches, something she never used to say, but now it rolled off her tongue so easily. It didn't seem like the first time she said it. He frowned, realizing he really didn't know her.
"Enough! Aren't you shamed enough? Solve this yourself!" Lucas said, then turned and left.
Seeing him leave, Clara shouted, "No, don't go. Don't leave me alone, Lucas. Listen to me."
In her haste, she forgot about her injuries. She got up quickly and fell off the bed, hitting the floor with a loud thud. The sound was painful to hear, but Lucas didn't stop and left the room without hesitation.
Victoria ignored the scene. She was quite surprised that Lucas had actually left Clara behind.
Whether he was angry out of true love or because his dignity was hurt, she had no interest in knowing.
The people at the door also looked indifferent, except for Alfonso, who kindly asked someone to call a nurse.
After Lucas left in anger, Clara lay on the floor in pain and humiliation, clenching her fists. Her tear-filled eyes were bloodshot and full of hatred. Her pale face was twisted with an ugly grimace. She gritted her teeth and said, "Victoria, you bitch, you said you wouldn't broadcast it, but you lied to me!"
Now, she had no hope of marrying Lucas. It was all Victoria's fault.
Victoria's lips curled slightly. Facing Clara's hatred, she just smiled faintly and said confidently, "I didn't, but I never said I wouldn't eavesdrop."
Clara was so angry that she choked, her eyes wide open, glaring at Victoria, unable to say a word.
Clara's whole body was trembling. She had fallen from the bed, landing on her already fractured leg, causing her to break out in a cold sweat from the pain. She could only grit her teeth and endure it, her mind too muddled to think.
"Besides, my eavesdropping is legal, right, Mr. Romero?" Victoria looked at Alfonso and the others standing at the door.
Alfonso showed no expression but responded, "Yes."
Clara had calculated everything but didn't expect Victoria to have a DNA test done.
Victoria was not interested in the follow-up.
"Mr. Romero, I'll leave the rest to you. Thank you." Victoria turned to leave the room, smiling at Alfonso as she stopped at the door.
Alfonso nodded."Alright, it's my job."
With Victoria gone, Dylan and Kimberly naturally didn't stay either.
As they left the hospital, Dylan said puzzledly, "Is Clara out of her mind? This plan is full of holes, it's unbearable to watch."
Victoria looked up slightly at the distant sunset, a faint smile on her lips, and said softly, "That's because she was too eager to miscarry the child."
Kimberly, watching this scene, felt a touch of emotion. Victoria's profile was so beautiful.
