Chapter 57 Victoria Goes to the Office to Find Alexander
When Victoria said she'd give up her shares in the Kennedy Group, Oliver dropped the argument. Protecting the Kennedy family's assets was his top priority.
"But what?" he asked.
Victoria replied, "Hand over the box my mom left, and I'll give you the Kennedy Group shares. Forget about the Horizon Group shares; they have nothing to do with the Kennedy family!"
Oliver was surprised she still wanted that box. If they gave it to her, she'd cut ties with the Kennedy family, and they'd lose access to her other funds. No way could they hand it over.
"I'll think about it," Oliver said, not committing.
Victoria was taken aback by his hesitation. She'd already agreed to give up the Kennedy Group shares, yet he still wouldn't agree.
It seemed they were unwilling to hand over the box left by Esme, likely because it contained some hidden secret or something more tempting than the Kennedy Group shares.
"I can give you time to consider, but there has to be a deadline, right? Oliver?" Victoria said coldly.
Oliver was infuriated by her defiant and disrespectful tone. "Two months."
Victoria, thinking of her bet with Alexander, immediately retorted, "No more than a month and a half!"
She wasn't afraid of Alexander revealing their relationship; she just wanted to deal with this matter with the Kennedy family first.
After some thought, Oliver agreed.
"But if you haven't decided in a month and a half, I'll sell the Kennedy Group shares!" Victoria said nonchalantly. After all, the Kennedy Group shares were useless to her.
Before hanging up, Victoria warned, "You better not try any tricks, or I will definitely destroy the Kennedy Group!"
Back at the Kennedy family home, after Oliver hung up, Clara nervously asked, "Grandpa Kennedy, did Victoria agree to let us bring Grandma Davis back?"
But Oliver, ignoring her, looked at Simon and said sternly, "Simon, come with me to the study."
He then got up and walked briskly towards the study, completely ignoring Clara's question.
Seeing this, Simon immediately followed.
Clara was bewildered. Seeing their departing figures, she then turned to Elodie and asked, "Mom, why do I feel like Grandpa Kennedy turned into a completely different person after talking to Victoria?"
Elodie, looking relaxed and indifferent, glanced over and said sharply, "Don't worry about it. It's better if your grandma Davis doesn't come back; I don't want to take care of her. I've been married to Simon for so many years, and she's never treated us well."
Whenever Thalia was mentioned, Elodie's eyes filled with disgust.
Clara felt the same way. She knew Thalia had always favored Victoria, giving her the best of everything. Even though Clara was also her granddaughter, Thalia treated her differently. Fortunately, she had won Oliver and Simon's favor. In the Kennedy family, Thalia wasn't in charge. No matter how much Thalia favored Victoria, it didn't matter; Victoria still ended up being a stepping stone for her.
"Just focus on pleasing your grandpa Kennedy and dad, and keep Lucas interested in you. Once you marry Lucas, your grandpa Kennedy and dad will surely hand over the entire Kennedy family to you, and then we won't have to worry anymore," Elodie advised Clara in a low voice, holding her hand.
Thinking about Lucas made Clara blush.
Elodie, always observant, asked, "Have you and Lucas slept together?"
Clara, remembering their passionate night, shyly nodded.
Though she had been with Lucas for a while, he was usually very disciplined. They mostly just kissed and kept things light. But the other night, after he got drunk at a social event, she picked him up, and they ended up sleeping together.
Elodie had an idea. "You should try to get pregnant soon so Lucas will marry you quickly."
"Mom, that's too rushed. Victoria's last Instagram post hasn't been deleted yet; it could easily cause a scandal," Clara said, worried.
But Elodie thought differently. If they didn't act quickly, who knew what might happen later? Plus, she knew Lucas's mother didn't like Clara. If Clara got pregnant, it would make it easier for her to be accepted.
"The Tudor family's influence is huge. These things only get talked about online for a bit; people move on. You need to become Lucas's wife ASAP to avoid any issues. Remember, as long as you're not married, you can't let your guard down with Lucas for a second," Elodie advised.
Clara was tempted. In Ridgewood, apart from a few untouchable major families, the Tudor family's influence was the greatest. She wasn't about to give up on Lucas or let anyone else get close to him.
As for what Oliver and Simon were discussing in the study, Elodie and Clara were no longer interested.
On Halloween, Victoria left work early. Alexander had an important meeting at noon, so they didn't have lunch together, and she wasn't in the mood to eat either.
She texted Dylan to ask if Alexander's meeting was over. Dylan said it wasn't, meaning Alexander hadn't had lunch either.
Victoria: [When will he be done?]
Dylan: [In about an hour.]
Victoria: [Okay, I'll pack some food and bring it over.]
Dylan, being perceptive, replied: [Got it. Thank you. You can take the CEO's private elevator when you arrive. I'll inform the receptionist in advance.]
In the large conference room of Vertex Holdings Group, which could accommodate hundreds, Alexander exuded authority from the main seat. The people below didn't dare to breathe loudly.
Everyone just hoped that when it was their turn to report, Alexander would be a bit kind.
Marcus and Dylan sat behind Alexander.
Seeing Dylan constantly replying to messages, Marcus whispered, "Are you crazy? How dare you check your phone during a meeting?"
Dylan didn't say anything but raised his phone to show Marcus, who immediately fell silent.
Meanwhile, before leaving her company, Victoria called Starlight Diner to order a few dishes for takeout. This way, she could pick them up directly and head to Vertex Holdings Group, timing it just right.
Before leaving, she also informed Wesley that all employees could leave two hours early today.
When this announcement was made, everyone was thrilled.
Although Victoria usually gave off a cold vibe, she was actually very good to the employees of Horizon Group, just strict about work, which everyone understood.
In the company's group chat:
[Ms. Kennedy is awesome!]
[Ms. Kennedy is the most beautiful and the best!]
[We love Ms. Kennedy!]
[We're so lucky to work for Ms. Kennedy!]
