Chapter 504 A Brief Interlude
The wedding processional music began to play as the emcee announced, "Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome our bride."
At the altar, the handsome groom stood waiting, his posture rigid with anticipation.
The bride was about to walk down the long red carpet alone.
Outside the ballroom doors, Lavinia took a deep, nervous yet excited breath. Winter and Kimberly stood beside her, exchanging glances but saying nothing.
The ballroom doors were pulled open from within.
Lavinia gaped at the decorations inside—it was breathtaking. This was exactly the wedding she had always wanted, the kind of spectacular celebration she believed she deserved.
All eyes turned toward her, and the attention fed her vanity. She straightened her posture and stepped inside, beginning her journey down the long aisle.
As she gazed at Alexander—tall and handsome—standing at the altar, her heart raced with excitement.
Halfway down the aisle, Esme and Saskia, seated in the front row, exchanged knowing glances. Despite Lavinia's veil and her disguise as Victoria, they could tell this wasn't the real bride. Her walk and demeanor were completely different from Victoria's.
Saskia glanced at her son standing at the altar. Alexander maintained a stoic expression, seemingly watching the approaching bride while actually keeping his eyes fixed on the entrance. Unbeknownst to everyone, the groom was silently counting down the seconds, calculating whether Victoria would arrive at the promised time. If she were even half a second late, he wouldn't let her off the hook tonight, no matter what excuse she offered.
Saskia, understanding her son well, furrowed her brow. What were they up to? And where had her husband disappeared to?
She kicked her second son who was sitting beside her.
Landon, who had been recording the ceremony on his phone, felt a sharp pain in his leg. He managed to suppress a yelp, knowing Nathan would have scolded him for disrupting the ceremony.
He bent slightly to rub his injured leg, then turned to Saskia with a wounded expression. "Mom, why did you kick me? What did I do wrong? Next time, could you explain before attacking me?"
Ignoring his complaints, Saskia leaned in and whispered, "What is Alexander doing?"
"What?" Landon replied, bewildered. "Mom, are you overly excited about Alexander's wedding? What would he be doing other than getting married?"
Saskia gave Landon a sidelong glance and remained silent. Clearly, this fool knew nothing.
"Where's your father?" she asked.
"How would I know? He's your husband, not mine."
Saskia pinched his thigh mercilessly. "You're useless. After Alexander and Victoria's wedding, I'll arrange a blind date for you."
Landon winced in pain and fell silent. What had he done to deserve this?
Just then, someone gasped in surprise.
"Why are there two brides in wedding dresses?"
"Look at the entrance—there's another bride!"
As several guests called out, all eyes turned toward the doorway. The music abruptly stopped.
Lavinia, halfway down the aisle, froze in her tracks.
Another guest exclaimed, "Isn't that Mr. Howard's father? And why is there another bride standing beside him? What's going on?"
"Wow, that bride's dress is stunning! And she looks just like Mrs. Howard too! Why are there two Mrs. Howards?"
"Who's real and who's fake? We never heard that Mrs. Howard had a twin sister."
In an instant, the ballroom erupted with murmurs and confused chatter.
The Howard family, seated in their places, frowned in bewilderment.
What was happening?
At that moment, Victoria's voice resonated throughout the ballroom.
