Chapter 250 Marlowe's Decision

None of them could've guessed that a simple shopping trip and trying on clothes would lead to finding out Marlowe was pregnant. It was a total shock.

It was mainly because Marlowe had zero pregnancy symptoms and was acting completely normal. Plus, she never even thought it was possible.

The two of them took Marlowe home and stayed with her all afternoon. They respected her decision.

But Lila still tried to talk her into it, after all, this was the Scott Family's kid. "Marlowe, why don't you try talking to Grant about it?"

Marlowe was quiet for a long time before she finally said, "No." There was a hint of self-mockery on her face, a fleeting shadow in her eyes. She bit her lip and continued, "Do you know what Grant said when he agreed to marry me?"

Lila's heart sank; it couldn't be anything good.

Marlowe took a deep breath and then said, "He said he would never let me have his child because I wasn't worthy."

After saying that, Marlowe laughed, but she found that it didn't hurt as much this time; instead, she felt a sense of relief.

Lila instantly got angry. "What Grant said is too harsh and hurtful! Grant is despicable. Such a jerk!"

Victoria frowned slightly but didn't say anything.

Marlowe continued, "Otherwise, why do you think I haven't gotten pregnant in the past five years? It's because he never intended to let me. So, do you think talking to him would help?"

Marlowe could now talk about these things calmly. This was the first time she had told anyone about her and Grant.

Lila was furious. She cursed, not caring if the person was her relative or not. "Forget it, we just won't have the baby. Does he think he's the President or something, that his bloodline is so precious? I think he's not worthy of making you pregnant. He deserves to be lonely for the rest of his life!"

Marlowe had been pretty down, but hearing Lila curse like that, her depression lifted.

Victoria's eye twitched slightly.

Lila only dared to say this behind Grant's back.

At that moment, Grant, who was just leaving the Cleveland Clinic, sneezed several times in a row.

"Mr. Scott, are you catching a cold? Do you need to get some medicine?" Kevin, who was following behind him, asked worriedly.

Grant rarely responded, "I'm fine."

They were there to see Michelle who had taken a bullet for Grant last time. Although she was fine now, she was still in the hospital recovering. After what she did for Grant, so it was only right to visit her.

Since the day they brought Michelle to the hospital, today was their second visit.

They had been very busy lately, commuting between Jakarda City and Rihegde.

After all, the headquarters of the company Grant founded wasn't here, and some matters had to be handled in person.

During these days in Rihegde, Grant hadn't returned to the apartment and had been staying in a hotel.

After getting in the car, Kevin glanced at the rearview mirror and asked, "Mr. Scott, are you going back to the hotel or the apartment today?"

The car was quiet for a moment before Grant's low, tired voice broke the silence. "The apartment."

With that, Kevin had his direction and started driving.

Marlowe kept reassuring Victoria and Lila that she wouldn't overthink things at home, so they eventually left, heading back to their own places.

Once they were gone, Marlowe found herself alone in the empty apartment, feeling a sudden wave of loneliness. She sat on the couch, lost in thought, her mind wandering to all sorts of places.

She placed her hand on her belly, gently touching it. This baby had come out of nowhere, leaving her completely unprepared. She didn't know whether to be happy or worried.

She had just found out today that she was pregnant, but the idea of not keeping the baby made her heart ache and her nose tingle.

Moreover, Marlowe felt a strange sensation about becoming a mother. This sacred title made her reluctant to let go.

Since marrying Grant, she had never planned on becoming a mother because Grant wouldn't let her have his child, but she only wanted to have a child for him.

Marlowe looked down at her belly and murmured to herself, "Baby, if I don't keep you, will you blame me?"

"You'll definitely blame and hate me, and you'll ask why I didn't keep you, why I didn't want you."

Marlowe was very upset at this moment. She knew deep down that she longed for this child to be born.

But if she wanted to have the baby, there was only one way: to divorce Grant as soon as possible and then leave with the baby.

A glimmer of hope flashed in Marlowe's eyes, and the lost courage seemed to return.

The role of a mother seemed to give her a new sense of purpose and the courage she had lost.

"Baby, for you, I'll be brave and decisive one more time." Marlowe said, touching her belly, her face beaming with a determined smile.

When Lila got home, she saw Owen's shoes in the hallway and knew he was back.

Since that one time they had sex, they naturally ended up together, and Owen would occasionally stay at her place.

After changing her shoes, she headed straight to the room, wanting to take a hot bath. The cold outside had made her feet icy.

She had only taken a few steps when Owen, sitting on the couch, called out to her.

"What's up?" She turned to look at him and noticed the smile on his face. "Did you win the lottery?" Lila raised an eyebrow and asked in confusion.

Owen then got to his feet and strode over to her.

Looking at Owen up close, she really liked his appearance; every part of him fit her aesthetic perfectly.

With his gold-rimmed glasses, Owen looked refined and noble, but in reality, he was a very cunning man.

Owen's deep eyes behind the glasses stared straight at her, a smile on his face, and his thin lips parted slightly. "You're pregnant?"

Lila raised an eyebrow, her mouth slightly open. 'Am I hearing things?'

She then reached out to feel Owen's forehead and muttered, "No fever."

Owen fell silent.
