Chapter 457 The Untold Story

Presidential Palace.

"Mrs. Windsor, I've completed the task you assigned. Mr. Windsor did indeed request DNA testing," reported a man standing before Anouk, his head respectfully bowed.

"Additionally, I've arranged for the results to be replaced with our prepared alternative, regardless of the actual findings."

Seated in her chair, Anouk's eyes were cold, her face twisted with malice—all traces of her usual gentle demeanor completely vanished. The man, sensing her dark mood, dared not look up.

After a moment, she spoke icily, "Good. Bring me the results the moment they arrive."

"Yes, Mrs. Windsor."

"You may go."

The man hesitated before leaving, glancing around to ensure they were alone. "Mrs. Windsor, your contact has requested you return his call at your earliest convenience."

Anouk's elegant brows furrowed slightly. "Okay."

As the man departed, she watched him leave, something unreadable flickering in her eyes.

At the hospital.

Shortly after Zephyr's departure, Thomas, Seraphim, Arnold, and Chloe came to visit Victoria. They'd already heard about the President's unexpected visit.

"Vicky, how on earth did you get involved with the Windsor family?" Thomas asked eagerly.

"Zephyr is a cunning man. What did he want from you?" he continued, bubbling with curiosity.

The others looked equally intrigued.

Victoria avoided mentioning her mother's connection to Zephyr. Instead, she casually explained that the President had come out of respect for Alexander and to invite them to his birthday celebration.

Thomas raised an eyebrow. "That's it? Nothing more?"

Chloe interjected, "I've heard this birthday celebration isn't actually Mr. Windsor's idea. He's never held one before."

This caught Victoria's attention. "What do you mean?"

"My family has some connections with Mr. Windsor," Chloe explained. "The original presidential candidate wasn't Zephyr, but the Windsor family's eldest son. Somehow, Zephyr—the third son—ended up taking the position instead, despite being the least likely candidate with apparently no interest in politics."

"What's significant is that everyone had backed the eldest son due to his reputation and suitability. When Zephyr was announced instead, it caused quite a scandal. He assumed the presidency under enormous pressure."

"The exact reasons remain unknown—even my family doesn't know. One day, the previous president simply announced this decision, along with the marriage alliance with the Montgomery family."

"Most notably, the Windsor family's eldest son has never been seen in public since then."

Thomas speculated boldly, "You don't think he's dead, do you?"

"No evidence of that," Chloe replied. "He's simply vanished from public view."

Thomas stroked his chin thoughtfully. "Still, a person disappearing for over twenty years isn't normal by any standard."

Chloe shrugged, indicating she had no further information.

"So why do you say this celebration isn't Zephyr's idea?" Thomas pressed.

"Because he's never held any birthday celebrations since taking office, especially not for himself," Chloe explained. "This sudden event seems highly unusual."

Victoria had been frowning since Chloe began her explanation.

Chloe turned to her. "So, darling Vicky, if you attend, please be careful."

Victoria hadn't expected to hear such information from Chloe. Apparently, there was more to this story than she knew.

These details hadn't appeared in any of Victoria's research. Someone had clearly worked to conceal this information—which suggested there was indeed something problematic beneath the surface.

At noon, members of the York family arrived to take George back home.

Since Victoria's conversation with him last night, George had changed considerably. Seraphim sometimes felt that his role as a psychologist was almost redundant compared to the impact of their heart-to-heart talk.

"By the way, Seraphim," Victoria said, "could you please take Sarah back to Rihegde for me? I'll need a few more days here, and she has to return to her film set the day after tomorrow."

Sarah remained unaware of Victoria's injuries. Her wounds wouldn't heal quickly enough, so it was better to keep Sarah at a distance.

Fortunately, Seraphim had left her at Aidamore rather than bringing her here.

"Of course," Seraphim replied.

Victoria then inquired, "What about Cedric and Chloe? I haven't seen them all day yesterday and this morning."

"They had to return to the mercenary headquarters on urgent business," Seraphim explained in his characteristically gentle manner. "Alexander will stay here, while Arnold and I head back to Aidamore."

"Perfect," Victoria nodded.

Shortly after their departure, her hospital room welcomed another wave of visitors. Victoria felt like she was holding court, receiving one group after another.

"Ignatius, please return to your room. I have some matters to attend to," Victoria said to him.

Ignatius glanced at the new arrival with reluctance. Though he didn't want to leave, Victoria had made her request clear. He reluctantly stood up and left her room, lingering at the doorway.

He stood at the door, peering through the glass window, clearly concerned.

Winter and Kimberly, returning with supplies, spotted Ignatius with his face pressed against the door glass, looking very much like a "peeping Tom."

"Ignatius, what are you doing standing at the door?" Winter called out.

Ignatius turned around. "Winter, Kimberly, some woman came to see Victoria."

The two women paused, wondering who this visitor might be.

Ignatius moved aside, pointing through the glass.

Looking into the room, they were surprised to see Waverly inside.

Why would she come here? Normally, Waverly had no connection to their circle.

Winter, having researched the Windsor Family, had her suspicions, though nothing was confirmed yet.
