Chapter 132 Victoria Successfully Retrieves Esme's Belongings

Five minutes later, Victoria and her group left the Kennedy family's villa.

In the car, she looked at the wooden box she got from Oliver. Inside was the bracelet Esme mentioned in her diary.

She opened the box and found a well-preserved silver bracelet. Examining the intricate carvings, she couldn't figure out what they depicted. Then she saw two letters, "RE," on the inside. She murmured them and quickly linked the "E" to her mom's name. But what about the "R"?

Simon's name didn't have an "R" either. Could it be her mom's real last name?

There were so many surnames; which one could it be?

Esme's life was so mysterious. She didn't leave much behind, but everything she did leave made Victoria want to dig deeper, like someone was guiding her to find the truth.

Another big reason was she always felt like someone was watching her, but she had no proof.

She'd had this feeling since she was a kid. Whenever she was in danger, she always managed to escape in clever ways, making her think she was somehow protected.

Meanwhile, at the police station, Lucas waited outside with Clara.

Soon, Simon and Elodie showed up.

Lucas greeted them politely.

"Lucas, where's Clara?" Elodie asked, worried.

"She's inside giving a statement. Don't worry, she'll be fine," Lucas replied.

Elodie was anxious. Clara was her only daughter, and she wanted her to inherit the Kennedy family's fortune for a secure future.

"Didn't Victoria say she'd let Clara go once she got what she wanted? Why is Clara still inside? Is she playing us?" Elodie raised her voice at Simon.

A passing officer reminded her, "Ma'am, please keep it down. Thank you."

Elodie had never been so rude in public before.

Lucas frowned and looked at Simon. "What does Victoria want?"

Simon cleared his throat. "Her mother's belongings."

"That ungrateful jerk, framing Clara over some cheap trinket. Lucas, you know Clara didn't do this. You've known her long enough to know her true nature." Elodie's words were sharp despite her elegant appearance. She wanted to clear Clara's name in front of Lucas, hoping to secure his favor. After all, for Clara to control the Kennedy family, she needed to marry Lucas. The Tudor family was wealthier and more prestigious than the Kennedys.

Lucas didn't respond to Elodie but asked Simon, "If it's Esme's, it should go back to Victoria. Why did it come to this?"

Simon stayed silent.

He hadn't expected Lucas to say that.

Seeing Simon's evasive look, Lucas narrowed his eyes slightly but kept his expression neutral.

Just then, Clara came out.

"Clara, are you okay?" Elodie rushed to her, half-embracing her.

Clara, looking fragile, shook her head. "Mom, why did they say I can leave now?"

She knew the video was real, but the questioning suddenly stopped, and they let her go without explanation.

Elodie, indignant, said, "This is all Victoria's plan. She wants your grandfather and father to return her bitch of a mother's belongings. She knows they care about you the most, so she's using you to get what she wants."

Lucas frowned at Elodie's disrespectful reference to Victoria's mother. Esme had been kind to him as a child.

He couldn't understand how someone so rude could raise a daughter as gentle as Clara.

A male officer walked over and said, "You can go now. There's nothing more."

Clara glanced at Lucas's somber face, then walked over to him, gently holding his arm. "Lucas, thank you for coming with me. You believe me, don't you?" she asked cautiously.

Looking at her gentle face, Lucas ruffled her hair and smiled. "As long as you're okay. You're my fiancée; if I don't believe you, who will?"

Clara smiled sweetly.

But the happiness didn't last long. Just as they were about to leave the police station, another group blocked their way.
