Chapter 144 Doubts
Wade from the vice squad had just come back from checking some info.
"Alfonso, I'm back," he called out to Alfonso, who was on his phone.
"What's the scoop?" Alfonso asked, putting his phone down and looking at Wade.
Wade filled him in. "Clara and Ethan were high school classmates. Six years ago, right before graduation, Ethan got involved in kidnapping Victoria from the Kennedy family. He did three years in prison, which wrecked his future. He was a top student, class monitor, and everyone thought he was a good kid. But he confessed right away, saying he needed money for his dad's medical bills. The cops confirmed it; his family was just regular folks. Also, Ethan had a thing for Clara back in school, and they were pretty close."
Alfonso thought for a moment. "Clara's the favorite in the Kennedy family, and he was close to her. Victoria wasn't. If he wanted money, why not kidnap Clara? It doesn't make sense."
Wade nodded. "Yeah, and I just saw in the news that the Kennedy family cut ties with Victoria. These rich families are a mess."
"One more thing," Wade added. "Ethan said the kidnapping was for ransom, but he never called the Kennedys. Victoria was supposed to be at an international piano competition that day. A friend noticed she was missing and called the cops. Ethan stuck to his story, and since Victoria wasn't hurt, the case was closed."
Alfonso squinted. "A rich girl hanging out with a guy with a criminal record? You think they were just classmates?"
Meanwhile, in the master bedroom of Serenity Grove Manor, Victoria woke up in Alexander's arms. "What time is it?" she asked groggily.
"Four-thirty," Alexander replied.
She snuggled closer, feeling safe with him.
Alexander stroked her head. "What's up?"
"Nothing, just want to hold you," she mumbled.
Alexander leaned in and whispered, "Keep snuggling, and I can't promise I'll behave. I'm a normal guy, and you keep saying no to sex."
Victoria stopped moving and looked at his handsome face. "I'm a patient right now."
"So, if you weren't, you'd be up for it?" Alexander asked, eyes narrowing.
Victoria hadn't expected him to catch that. They were married, and she liked him, so she had no real reason to refuse. But talking about it felt awkward.
"I didn't say that," she said, rolling her eyes and trying to get up.
Alexander grabbed her waist, flipped them over, and pinned her down. "You're so heartless," he said, looking at her.
Victoria wrapped her arms around his neck and smiled. "You like a challenge, right? If I were easy, it'd be boring."
Alexander chuckled. "True, but I'll take what I can get now."
He kissed her, and she started to respond. The room heated up, but Alexander eventually stopped and bit her neck.
Meanwhile, two uninvited guests had been waiting downstairs for almost half an hour.
