Chapter 18: Alexander Cooks Personally

After Victoria and Lila hung up, it was only five o'clock.

She wasn't tired anymore, so she called Wesley to email her the documents that needed approval.

At five-thirty, her phone rang.

She glanced at it and answered.

A deep, smooth male voice came from the other end, "You picked up fast. Were you awake?"

Victoria's heart started racing.

She bit her lip and answered softly, "Yes."

Alexander then asked, "What do you want for dinner tonight?"

"What do you mean?" Victoria instinctively replied.

"Are you cooking?" she asked tentatively, remembering he mentioned cooking two hours ago.

"I'll have Marcus send the ingredients to your place. I'll cook when I get home, or if you want, we can go to the supermarket together," Alexander offered her two options in a gentle voice.

Victoria was speechless. How could Alexander say "get home" so naturally?

This was her home, after all.

Actually, neither of them realized it; it just slipped out.

"Victoria?" Alexander called out when she didn't respond.

Victoria stayed silent.

Her heart was pounding!

Just because Alexander said her name over the phone.

Many people called her Victoria, but when Alexander said it, it felt different.

"Victoria?" Alexander called again.

Victoria reluctantly replied, "Send it to my place."

She didn't really want to go out.

Alexander heard this and replied, "Okay."

Then she added, "As for the ingredients, it's up to you. I'm not picky and have no food allergies."

Alexander chuckled, "Okay."

Victoria felt a strange sense of familiarity with his response.

Before hanging up, Alexander said, "Then be good and wait for me at home."

Maybe his voice was too charming, she actually responded, "Okay."

After hanging up, she realized what had happened.

Her cheeks turned red.

What was wrong with her just now?

'Victoria, where's your usual cool demeanor? How could you be so easily swayed by a nice voice? Even your quick reflexes are gone?' she reprimanded herself.

She sat on the sofa, looking annoyed!

She was really mesmerized by Alexander's voice!

On the other side, in the CEO's office, Alexander was the opposite.

Marcus had just delivered some documents and saw Alexander sitting in his chair, smiling.

He was stunned, thinking he had seen wrong. He rubbed his eyes hard and looked again, seeing Alexander's usual cold face. He thought, 'This is abnormal!'

Alexander smiling? And so gently? He must have seen wrong.

"These two documents need your signature," Marcus said as he placed the documents on Alexander's desk.

Alexander, with a cold and handsome face, responded indifferently.

He then picked up the documents, quickly scanned through them, and signed his name with his exclusive pen.

When Alexander was done signing, Marcus took the documents and was about to leave when he was called back.

Alexander called out, "Wait."

Marcus stood straight and respectfully asked, "Yes, Sir?"

He then saw Alexander pull out a piece of paper and quickly jot down a list of ingredients.

Marcus was dumbfounded.

"Alexander's going to cook?"

Alexander pushed the paper towards him and said coldly, "Buy everything on this list and send it to North Courtyard."

Marcus responded woodenly, "Okay."

After he left, he ran into Dylan and said, "Dylan, Mr. Howard asked me to buy ingredients for North Courtyard. Is he really going to cook for Mrs. Howard?"

Dylan was stunned.

"Probably," Dylan said after some hesitation.

Marcus sighed, "Mr. Howard has never cooked for anyone, not even his own family. But Mrs. Howard has only known him for a few days."

Who would have thought that the CEO of Vertex Holdings Group, the head of the Howard family, would cook, and often cooked for himself?

But in their memory, no one had ever tasted Alexander's cooking, except himself.

At six-thirty, Marcus personally delivered the ingredients to North Courtyard and then left.

Half an hour later, the doorbell rang again.

Victoria opened the door to find Alexander, who had come back to cook. He was still in a black suit with a silver-gray tie, looking gentlemanly and elegant, exuding a mature charm.

Every part of Alexander was perfect: a handsome face, perfect body proportions, wealth, power, and he could even cook.

"Don't you know the password?" Victoria looked at him and said, then stepped aside to let him in.

After entering, Alexander took off his coat, hung it on the coat rack, and said, "I was afraid it might be a bad time for you."

Victoria stared at his broad back. Alexander was always showing his gentlemanly demeanor and charm.

His words touched her heart again.

Then he asked, "I had Marcus buy another pair of slippers. Where did you put them?"

Victoria blinked. She hadn't touched the contents of that bag.

"Wait, I'll get them."

She ran to the living room and then back to the entrance.

"Here, put them on."

She opened the slippers, bent down, and placed them in front of him.

Alexander looked at her, smiled, and rubbed her head, saying, "Thank you."

Victoria touched her nose, feeling a bit embarrassed. He came to cook for her and even had to bring his own slippers.

She hadn't thought of this at all.

"Sorry, you had to bring your own slippers," Victoria said awkwardly.

Alexander rubbed her head again and said, "It's okay. Actually, I'm quite happy."

Victoria looked at him, puzzled.

Alexander suddenly leaned towards her, smiling, and said, "Because it means no other man has been here."

Victoria remained silent.

She realized Alexander liked to rub her head. Her five-foot-six height seemed small in front of his five-foot-ten frame.

Next, Alexander busied himself in the kitchen while she leisurely sat on the living room sofa.

She stared at Alexander in the kitchen. Even from the back, he looked noble and handsome.

At this moment, she saw a different side of Alexander, a domestic side, unlike the high and mighty, cold and powerful aura she saw at Starlight Diner.

Victoria never dreamed that one day Alexander would cook for her at her home.

And they were even married.

In just a few days, her previously calm and dull life had changed.

Then she got up and walked towards the kitchen.
