Chapter 392 The Foolish Actions of a Ridiculous Person
When the name Ruth was mentioned, Bryan felt troubled, a faint light flickering in his deep eyes.
He then continued speaking in a lazy tone, "Victoria, your friend Ruth is too hard to pursue, so I gave up."
Victoria frowned slightly. "So, you listened to Enrique and chose an arranged marriage?"
Bryan laughed a few times. "I suddenly realized that it is great. Look, I don't have to put in much effort, just get married directly. How convenient. Besides, you know me, I never like complicated things."
Victoria didn't know what had happened between him and Ruth recently.
But she knew something must have happened to make him willing to do something he least wanted to do.
Bryan didn't want to continue the topic, so he changed the subject, "I sent out the invitations to all of you. It's a good opportunity for us to get together."
Victoria responded but didn't mention anything about George.
Currently, only Cedric, Arnold, and Thomas knew about George's situation.
At this time, Ruth, who was in Jakarda City, also received such an invitation.
Since Adrian announced her as the successor of the Barnes Group, she had been very busy every day, with a lot to learn.
After returning to Jakarda City from Rihegde, Bryan had been pestering her for more than two months.
One day, after she had a bit to drink while attending a social event on behalf of her father, she got a bit temperamental, and Bryan happened to run into her when she was angry, so she said some harsh words.
She didn't forget what she said to him; in fact, she remembered it very clearly.
Since that day, he hadn't appeared again.
But the words she said were just out of anger.
Until just now, she received this engagement invitation.
So, he was getting engaged.
She always knew his status, and the gap between their statuses was too large.
So, while he was persistently pursuing her, she constantly reminded herself not to fall for him too easily.
For her, love was never a priority.
"Mr. Barnes." The secretary knocked on the door a few times without a response, so she pushed the door open. When she entered, she saw Ruth staring blankly at a card in her hand, not noticing her entrance.
Ruth snapped back to reality. "Sorry, I was lost in thought." She asked, "What's up?"
Secretary replied, "You have a meeting in five minutes."
Ruth responded, "Okay, I know."
Then she said, "Postpone the work scheduled after next Wednesday if possible. If not, organize it and send it to me in the afternoon."
"Okay, Mr. Barnes." The secretary asked, "Mr. Barnes, do you have plans to go out next week?"
Ruth said, "Not sure yet, just organize it first."
"Okay."
Ruth didn't let herself waste too much time on this matter and quickly focused on her work.
Meanwhile, after Victoria hung up the phone with Bryan, she received a call from the prison. "Hello, is this Victoria?"
"Yes, who is this?"
"This is Rihegde Prison. Someone wants to see you."
An hour later.
Rihegde Prison.
Someone was already waiting for her at the entrance.
"Ms. Kennedy, please follow me." A female officer led her into the prison and then to a reception room.
The officer opened the door and said, "Please wait here for a moment. My colleague has gone to bring the person over."
Victoria replied, "Okay, thank you."
Soon, the door was pushed open.
She was sitting facing the door, so when Clara entered, Victoria saw her immediately.
Wearing a blue prison uniform, with handcuffs on her wrists, her face looked haggard, and her eyes were dull.
At this moment, Clara had none of her former glory, none of the socialite aura, only a disheveled appearance.
Clara looked at the still glamorous Victoria, a flash of jealousy in her eyes, but she quickly concealed it.
"Do you need something from me?" Victoria glanced at her indifferently.
Victoria had previously instructed that if Clara wanted to see her, the police could contact her at any time.
However, she didn't expect Clara to actually want to see her.
Elodie had sought out Victoria before, but she ignored her because it wasn't Clara who asked.
Clara sat across from her, her dull eyes staring at her. "Seeing me like this, are you happy?"
Victoria raised an eyebrow and said slowly, "Happy? Not really. After all, you don't even qualify to be my opponent."
Then she chuckled lightly. "Besides, I never thought you were superior to me, nor did I think I was inferior to you. Your current state doesn't make me feel anything."
Clara's face changed. Impossible, Victoria couldn't be completely indifferent. She must be lying.
If what Victoria said was true, then everything Clara had done before was just the foolish behavior of a ridiculous person in her eyes.
And it felt like Victoria had a knack for reading people's minds, understanding her thoughts with just a single glance.
She curled her red lips into a wicked smile. "All these years, playing along with you has been quite tiring."
Clara's pupils dilated, staring at her. "What do you mean?"
"What? Have you lost your memory after being locked up for a few days?"
