Chapter 231 Don't Touch Me Randomly!

It wasn't until 7 PM that Victoria managed to get away.

She had planned to dip right after handling the situation, but Todd blabbed that she was back, and those folks latched onto her for hours.

Ignoring her death stare, Todd cleared his throat and said, "It's late. How about grabbing some dinner before you head out?"

As she heard "dinner," a conversation popped into her head. 'Oh crap! It's already 7 PM.'

No signal could come through the walls to here.

Todd watched her face change, a hint of panic creeping in. He had no clue what was up.

He was about to ask, "Is something wrong?"

But Victoria didn't give him a chance; she bolted right in front of him.

Todd was left scratching his head, raising an eyebrow. This was the first time he'd seen Victoria so rattled.

Outside, Victoria saw the missed calls, all from an hour ago.

Her eyelid twitched ominously, a sign she was nervous. After cursing Todd in her head, she immediately called back.

Alexander sat in the car, eyes closed, not saying a word, and the vibe around him was tense. Even standing outside the car felt like torture.

Dylan glanced at Nancy, who was standing outside with him and hadn't left. If it weren't for her, Alexander might have already torn through the whole city of Ridgewood.

But Dylan couldn't figure out why Victoria had snuck out. Was she doing something Alexander wouldn't approve of?

He believed that if Victoria asked, Alexander would give her anything. So, what was she up to?

At that moment, a phone rang inside the car.

Alexander had been holding his phone the whole time. With the ringing and the slight vibration in his hand, he opened his eyes. It was Honey.

Alexander squinted slightly, his deep eyes staring at the contact name. Finally, he sighed silently and answered the call, but he didn't say a word, not even a simple greeting.

Victoria, on the other end, was very sensitive. Her heart tightened, and a thought flashed through her mind. 'Oh no, Alexander is pissed.'

For the first time, Victoria felt so nervous and uneasy. It was her first time doing something shady, and she got caught.

She had already seen Nancy's message. Alexander was on set and, worried about her missing, and almost tore the set apart.

Victoria rarely spoke so cautiously, even with a somewhat humble tone, "Honey, where are you now?"

Alexander didn't speak, so she continued, "I went out to take care of something. There was no signal there, and I got so busy I forgot. I'm sorry. I shouldn't have kept it from you and made you worry. But don't worry, I'm fine, not a scratch. I'm on my way back now."

She knew the importance of honesty.

Hearing her cautious voice and her good attitude, the anger in Alexander's heart dissipated.

He wasn't really mad at her, just worried. The moment he heard her voice, any anger he had vanished.

But he still felt a bit upset. She had kept it from him and dodged his people, which made him uncomfortable.

He thought he had fully entered her heart, that her inner world would be completely open to him. But the reality was that he still needed to work harder.

Having been in the business world for so many years, he could read between the lines even if she didn't say it outright.

She never mentioned what she went to do or where she was.

It was clear she didn't want to say.

Victoria, not hearing Alexander's voice for a long time, pouted and called out again, "Honey, you..."

Before she could finish, Alexander's calm, deep, and magnetic voice came through. "Just come straight home."

He had no clue where she was and didn't want to waste time playing detective.

When Victoria finally rolled up to Serenity Grove Manor, Alexander was already back.

As soon as she walked in, she bumped into Sawyer.

She pulled Sawyer aside and whispered, "Sawyer, is he back?"

Sawyer smiled warmly. "Mr. Howard got back half an hour ago. He's in the kitchen."

"The kitchen?" Victoria muttered, a bit surprised.

"Yes, ma'am, he called this afternoon and told the chef to take the night off. He wanted to cook for you himself," Sawyer said with a grin. He really liked Victoria. She didn't talk much, but since she came around, Alexander had changed a lot. It was clear they were head over heels for each other.

But today, Victoria seemed a bit off, like she was walking on eggshells.

Sawyer took a wild guess, "Did you have a fight with Mr. Howard?"

Victoria felt a pang of guilt. He was clearly mad at her, yet he was still cooking for her.

She bit her lip. "Not exactly. I just made him unhappy."

Sawyer didn't think it was a big deal. If Alexander were really mad at Victoria, he wouldn't have gone straight to the kitchen to cook for her as soon as he got home.

With a knowing look, Sawyer grinned and said, "It's okay. He loves you so much. Just say something nice to cheer him up. He's always soft-hearted with you."

Everyone could see that Alexander truly adored and pampered Victoria.

Sawyer had heard that Victoria had been in Alexander's heart since they were kids, though few people knew about it.

Feeling a bit embarrassed by Sawyer's words, she cleared her throat to cover her awkwardness. "Sawyer, I'll go and try him now."

Sawyer nodded. "Go ahead."

Watching her head into the kitchen, Sawyer beamed.

Alexander's gentleness, patience, and care were all for Victoria, so he definitely couldn't stay mad at her.

At most, it was just a bit of pride. He wanted Victoria to sweet-talk him.

As one of age and experience, Sawyer understood this very well.

Sawyer thought that if they had a kid, the family would be perfect.

In the spacious kitchen, the tall Alexander made the room feel much smaller.

Alexander had changed into casual clothes, with his sleeves rolled up, showing off his strong forearms.

Even his broad shoulders and narrow waist from behind were enough to make any woman swoon.

Alexander was handling the ingredients when Victoria hugged his waist, pressing her warmth against his back.

He had known she was there since she appeared at the kitchen door.

Victoria's soft voice reached his ears from behind. "Honey, I'm back."

One second, two seconds, Alexander didn't respond, but she wasn't discouraged.

She had a way to make him speak.

About a minute later, Alexander's hoarse voice carried a hint of cold warning. "Don't touch me."

Victoria's slender hands were disobediently wandering, even a bit boldly.

Victoria acted as if she hadn't heard, but even became more wanton in her touch.

Moments later, Alexander felt a cold sensation on his abdomen, his body stiffening, and his hands freezing in the middle of handling the ingredients.

She had only intended to get his attention this way, but the well-defined abs she felt were something she liked.

Alexander had a perfect golden ratio body, with eight-pack abs that women loved and men envied.

The veins on Alexander's forehead bulged, and his Adam's apple bobbed up and down.

Did she not know how much she tempted him?

He wasn't indulgent in women, but it would be different when in came to her.

Just as he was about to pry her hands away, Victoria righteously said from behind, "I'm not bothering you. You make dinner, and I'll do my thing."

Alexander remained silent.
