Chapter 336 You Are Not Suitable for Each Other
Wind Sleep Villa had an unexpected visitor. The call Alexander got wasn't about business; it was about someone from Wind Sleep Villa.
That morning, Dylan had already checked out the person in the video Owen sent him. It turned out that this person was indeed from Wind Sleep Villa.
The guy who first found Victoria after she swam ashore from the river was also connected to this place, and Thalia was here too. All the investigations and people were tied to this villa.
Nicholas wasn't a stranger to Alexander; after all, he was family. Alexander showed up with the goal of getting Thalia and figuring out why they sent blood to Victoria.
"Mr. Lee, sorry to bother you," Alexander greeted. Alexander showed his usual gentlemanly manners. No matter what these people were up to, they did send the blood in time.
Nicholas was a bit surprised; after all, the man in front of him was a top business mogul. Word was, he was always decisive, ruthless, and cold-hearted. Alexander, who held a high position, always had an intimidating vibe.
Nicholas wasn't shocked by Alexander's arrival, as he had purposely left clues to lead Alexander here. "Mr. Howard, just call me Nicholas," Nicholas said. "Please wait a moment; someone wants to see you."
Alexander raised an eyebrow but nodded. After a moment, the elevator door next to them opened. Nicholas pushed someone in a wheelchair over.
"Mr. Howard, sorry to keep you waiting. Esme is here," Nicholas said. At the same time, Nicholas and the person in the wheelchair appeared before him.
The first to be surprised was Dylan, mainly because he recognized something familiar in the face of the person in the wheelchair.
Alexander was also stunned. Even though he had seen many shocking things, his eyes still widened when he saw Esme.
Alexander's memories of Esme were only from a few childhood encounters, but those were enough for him to remember her. Mainly because Victoria's beauty came from the person in front of him, especially her lively eyes, which were almost identical to Esme's. However, Esme's eyes had a few more traces of time and sadness.
"Are you Saskia's son?" Esme was the first to speak, her age-worn eyes scanning Alexander from head to toe.
After a flash of surprise in Alexander's eyes, he returned to normal. He didn't speak but nodded. Right now, he wasn't thinking about why Esme was alive, but about Victoria in the hospital and how she would handle this truth.
He then lowered his eyes slightly and looked at Esme. Though she sat in a wheelchair, her unique aura persisted—cool, solemn, and full of elegant nobility.
She continued, "I didn't expect that the little boy from before has now become a business tycoon. Saskia really raised a good son." Esme had heard about Alexander's reputation.
Alexander softly said, "Thank you, Esme."
Since Esme was still alive and had been living in Wind Sleep Villa, it meant she should know that he and Victoria were already married. Alexander and Thalia both thought that Victoria wouldn't be too happy when she found out the truth and might even be upset.
Esme gestured to Nicholas. "Nicholas, you all go out."
Nicholas nodded and led Leroy and Eric out of the living room. The people Alexander brought along also left without needing to be told. In no time, the large living room was left with just two people: Esme and Alexander.
Neither of them spoke at first. For Esme, Alexander and Victoria's marriage was a surprise, and she hadn't had the chance to intervene.
"Why Victoria?" Esme asked sharply.
Alexander got what she meant right away. "It's always been her." That meant his heart had always belonged to Victoria from the start.
Esme understood, but she was still a bit taken aback, looking at Alexander with a more scrutinizing gaze. She had her reasons for the marriage she had planned for Victoria. What she didn't expect was that the Tudor family would treat Victoria so poorly.
"Why are you showing up now?" Alexander finally asked the question that had been on his mind.
Esme's lips curved slightly. "Worried I'll break you two up?"
Alexander replied without hesitation, "Not worried." He said with confidence, "Because she won't leave me."
"But as far as I know, you two haven't been together for long." Esme lowered her eyes and continued, "And you two are not suitable."
Alexander squinted his eyes slightly, pursing his thin lips, not responding. Esme watched him suppressing his inner displeasure and anger.
Esme didn't deny that Alexander was good-looking and an excellent person. She had read Alexander's information; she knew as Saskia's child, he wouldn't be bad, but...
"You two have no emotional foundation. Being together won't last long," Esme said, "Even with an emotional foundation, it might not last long." The last sentence seemed to be said to herself.
Alexander frowned slightly and said, "Victoria has always been the only one in my heart, and my whole family is very fond of her. I don't have the so-called shackles of an arranged marriage."
Esme said, "But it's impossible for Victoria to bear an heir for the Howard family."
Meanwhile, in the hospital, Victoria was getting an IV drip and had fallen asleep again. When she woke up, it was already dark outside, and night was about to fall. But Alexander still hadn't come back.
Victoria picked up her phone from the bedside and looked at the time. It was already past six, and Alexander had been out for more than three hours.
Victoria thought, 'Why hasn't he come back yet? He said he'd be back soon.'
Victoria was both frustrated and puzzled, and there wasn't a single message on her phone. Then she quickly dialed a familiar number. The other side picked up quickly.
Victoria said, "Hello, Alexander."
Alexander replied, "Yes."
Victoria asked, "Where are you?" Victoria's voice was a bit hoarse and dry from just waking up, but it carried a touch of softness.
The other side said, "Behind you."
She was puzzled and turned to look behind her. Alexander was standing at the door of the hospital room.
Alexander was holding a phone in one hand and a thermos lunch box in the other, exuding an air of nobility with every move.
"When did you come in?" Victoria asked, "Why didn't I hear anything?"
Alexander put away his phone, walked towards her with his long legs, and put down the lunch box. He bent down slightly, reached out, and gently tapped Victoria's nose bridge. "I stood at the door for a full minute, and you didn't notice. What were you thinking about?"
Alexander had watched her wake up and observed all her actions, but she didn't notice him at all.
