Chapter 229 Entertainment News
Victoria and Alexander were dining when Dylan's phone buzzed with a call from the PR crew.
The PR folks were all jittery, asking, "Dylan, we just snagged some pics of Alexander. Should we let 'em loose or shut 'em down?"
Dylan thought for a sec and said, "Let 'em fly. Just keep tabs on the comments. As long as no one's being a jerk, we're good."
The PR team was like, "Got it."
Not long after, Victoria and Alexander's phones on the table started blowing up with notifications.
Victoria, looking a bit confused, was about to grab her phone when Alexander stopped her.
"Food's the priority," he said, taking her phone and putting it next to him.
Over half an hour later, Victoria finally got around to replying to Lila's messages.
She opened her phone and saw a ton of unread messages.
What the heck? She clicked on it and saw most of the messages were from Lila.
She skimmed through a few but didn't get it.
Then she scrolled to the first message, which was a photo.
She opened it and was momentarily stunned. It was a pic of her and Alexander making out by the roadside.
She scrolled down a bit more.
Lila: [Girl, you and Alexander were getting cozy on the street. So romantic.]
Lila: [Spill the tea, what happened between you two? Why'd Alexander kiss you on the street? How was it? Thrilling?]
There were also a bunch of voice messages, but she couldn't be bothered to listen. She could guess what Lila wanted to ask.
After leaving that chat, she opened Sarah's page. Same deal, Sarah had sent a photo with a message: [Girl, you seem to be having quite the adventure.]
There were also messages from a bunch of friends from the base, all saying the same stuff. She marked them all as read, too lazy to reply.
Meanwhile, Alexander was seriously replying.
They were chatting in their group of five.
Caleb: [Dude! Alexander, why are you so out there lately?]
Garrett: [Proud of you, but don't go overboard.]
Owen: [Alexander, what got into you? You threw the reputation of Vertex Holdings Group and the Howard family out the window to kiss Victoria on the street.]
Caleb: [I bet Alexander let those pics get out on purpose. Otherwise, he would've shut it down ages ago.]
Garrett: [Totally intentional!]
Caleb: [High-profile date yesterday, steamy kiss on the street today, impressive.]
Garrett: [Can't wait for tomorrow's headlines.]
Alexander: [She's my wife. Jealous?]
Owen: [Nah. I got a girlfriend.]
Grant: [Sorry, I got a wife, too.]
Caleb: [Who you throwing shade at?]
Garrett: [Just wait, I'll snag a girlfriend tomorrow!]
Alexander: [Caleb, Garrett, you two single dudes can just pair up. Not impossible.]
Caleb: [No personal attacks, man!]
Garrett: [I'm straight!]
Alfonso was personally keeping an eye on Otis and handling everything himself, scared that if he let his guard down for a sec, Otis might kick the bucket.
Wade checked the time; it was already 3 AM. "Alfonso, go catch some sleep. I'll watch him. We got four hours till 7 AM."
The approval had come through, and Otis was getting shipped to prison in the morning.
Alfonso was beat. He mumbled something and then leaned back in his chair, closing his eyes to rest.
Wade glanced at the monitor. Otis was sleeping like a baby, but it was rough for them.
He just hoped they could successfully send Otis to where he belonged tomorrow.
