Chapter 48 Alexander and Victoria Move In Together
7:30 PM.
After dropping off Lila, Victoria got back to North Courtyard.
She opened the door to find the house brightly lit and everything inside completely different from the morning.
She knew she hadn't gone to the wrong floor; each apartment had a private, restricted-access elevator.
"You're back?" Alexander, in casual loungewear, walked over to her.
Victoria blinked at him and asked, "Did you change everything?"
Alexander nodded, "Yeah, doesn't it look cozier?"
Victoria stayed silent.
Then she noticed the guest room had been turned into a study.
"You turned the guest room into a study?" she asked.
"Yes."
"So, are you planning to sleep on the couch?" she asked sincerely.
Alexander replied, "Do you think I would sleep on the couch?"
Victoria shook her head. Someone like him wouldn't sleep on a couch.
"Then why did you turn the guest room into a study?"
Alexander stared at her. She hadn't thought about him sleeping in her room, so if he didn't plan on that, he'd be stuck in the guest room forever.
He was Alexander; he wouldn't sleep in a guest room, especially with his legal wife right there.
Alexander crossed his arms, raised an eyebrow, and reminded her, "Mrs. Howard, have you forgotten we're legally married?" He stressed "legally."
Victoria was stunned. Did he mean he wanted to sleep in the same bed?
She looked at him, mouth slightly open, then licked her lips, gulped, and pressed them together.
Seeing her reaction, Alexander's eyes filled with desire.
His move left her speechless. The matter was settled.
She was in such a daze that she didn't even know how she got back to her room.
Victoria saw her walk-in closet had been divided into two sides, one for her and one for Alexander.
This sudden change was hard to accept.
She thought they could each have their own room and she'd have time to adjust. Now, she didn't even have that chance.
She felt like an untrained soldier sent straight to the battlefield.
Alexander's logic left her without an argument.
They were legally married and had feelings for each other. Living together was inevitable, but it felt too fast.
Frustrated, she grabbed her pajamas and went to the bathroom.
Seeing Alexander's toiletries there added to her anxiety. It was a mix of anticipation and fear.
After a scalding hot shower, Victoria thought, 'Since he's here, might as well settle in.'
But seeing Alexander's handsome face made her uneasy again.
"I'm sorry to make you stay in this small apartment. It's only 2,000 square feet," she muttered, not knowing what else to say.
Alexander looked at her, freshly showered and sexy, her skin slightly flushed. Her nervous yet pretending-to-be-relaxed demeanor was adorable.
"It's not a hardship. As long as you're here, anywhere is happiness," he said, looking at her affectionately.
Oh my God! She recently discovered Alexander was great at flirting. Was this really his first love?
This whole getting married first and then dating thing was still hard for her to accept.
Whenever Alexander used the "legal" argument, she had no comeback. The contract they signed before was useless now.
In the end, Victoria gave in. No matter what she said, he had a counterargument.
She sat cross-legged on the bed, listening to the water running in the bathroom, feeling lost.
After a while, the bathroom door opened, and she instinctively looked over, stunned.
Alexander's chiseled face, wet hair, and droplets of water hanging from his bangs made him look incredibly attractive. He was only wearing a towel, showing off his defined muscles and perfect physique.
"Do you like it?" he asked.
Victoria snapped back to reality, quickly looking away, her eyes darting elsewhere.
Caught peeking, she awkwardly said, "Why didn't you bring your pajamas in?"
The bed next to her sank a bit. She looked in horror as he got into bed like that.
Then she heard Alexander's low voice in her ear, "I usually sleep naked."
She was shocked again! Couldn't Alexander let her have a moment of peace?
Luckily, she had a good tolerance; otherwise, she'd need heart pills tonight!
She closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and decided she couldn't let him have his way. After all, this was her house.
"No, I'm not used to it. Either you put on your pajamas, or I'll sleep on the couch," Victoria said, making her biggest concession.
Alexander was silent.
In the end, to sleep with Victoria, he obediently went to change into his pajamas.
"And dry your hair before you come back," Victoria said, looking at his damp hair.
Alexander obediently went back to the bathroom, quickly dried his hair, and returned.
"Alexander, I think we need to have a serious talk."
Victoria sat cross-legged on the bed, forcing herself to stay calm, staring at the now pajama-clad Alexander.
She realized that Alexander really had a great body; even in pajamas, he looked like a model.
Having lived alone for so long, suddenly having another person in her home, especially a good-looking man who perfectly fit her aesthetic preferences, was truly torturing her.
Alexander was very cooperative with her.
