Chapter 113 Grant's Discontent
Victoria woke up at 8 AM sharp the next day.
She hadn't slept well and vaguely remembered dreaming but couldn't recall the details.
After getting ready, she went downstairs for breakfast.
Ignatius was already waiting in the hall.
That afternoon, she and Lila were heading to Jakarda City to celebrate Marlowe's birthday. She thought about bringing Ignatius but figured he'd feel out of place with just the three of them, all girls.
Marlowe had mentioned in the group chat last night that the party would be at a bar, so Victoria decided against bringing Ignatius.
After breakfast, she talked to him.
"Ignatius, I won't be back tonight. I'm going to a friend's birthday party. I thought about bringing you, but it's not the right place, and it's all girls. Is that okay?" Victoria asked.
Ignatius cheerfully agreed, "You go ahead. I'll stay here and finish my homework."
Victoria smiled, "Good boy. Stay home and study well. If you need anything, just ask Sawyer."
"Okay, got it," Ignatius replied.
At 4 PM, Victoria and Lila drove to Jakarda City.
The drive from Rihegde to Jakarda City took about three hours.
As soon as they hit the highway, Marlowe messaged, asking when they'd arrive so she could plan her departure.
Marlowe was on her balcony, looking at Lila's message: [Be there @ 7. Pick u up.]
Marlowe replied: [No need, just go to the location I sent you.]
Lila: [K, c u l8r.]
Marlowe was looking forward to the gathering. It was Lila's idea to celebrate her birthday. She hadn't celebrated in a long time. Since marrying Grant, her life had changed. He still hated her, even more now.
She didn't expect Grant to remember her birthday, let alone celebrate it. The thought of him doing so was terrifying.
Around 6:30, she dressed up and got ready to leave.
David saw her and asked, "Where are you going?"
Marlowe replied, "David, I won't be back tonight."
She went to the garage, got into a white Audi, and left the villa.
Grant was in the study having a video conference. He'd been at the villa all day, but Marlowe didn't know that.
Even when they were both home, they rarely saw each other. It was normal for her not to know he was there.
Since getting married, they only ate together when they went out. At home, they never ate together, and Grant rarely ate at the villa.
After his meeting, Grant left the study and glanced at the closed master bedroom door before heading downstairs.
"Mr. Scott, dinner is ready," David said respectfully, standing at the foot of the stairs.
Grant glanced at the living room but didn't see Marlowe. He thought she might already be at the dining table.
But she wasn't there, just cold utensils laid out.
Frowning, he asked, "Where is she?"
David was momentarily stunned before realizing who he meant. "You mean Mrs. Scott? She went out and said she wouldn't be back tonight."
Grant's frown deepened. She dared to stay out all night? Was she getting bolder?
Had she forgotten the villa's curfew?
Meanwhile, Marlowe, Lila, and Victoria had met up at a restaurant.
Marlowe said, "Let's have dinner first, then we'll go to the bar I reserved."
Lila and Victoria followed her lead since they were unfamiliar with Jakarda City.
After dinner, they headed to the bar. It was almost 10 PM, just in time for the bar to open.
Marlowe had reserved a private room with a view of the dance floor.
The place was packed with attractive people, and the first floor was buzzing. The loud music was the bar's hallmark.
"Why don't we go down and join the fun?" Lila suggested.
