Chapter 319 Idiot

"When did this happen? Why are you just telling me now?" Ellington's usually chill demeanor was replaced with a stormy expression as he drove.

Normally, Ellington had this laid-back, wild vibe, but now, he was showing his ruthless side.

Sophia, sitting next to him, said, "I just found out. The black market folks usually give me a heads-up when they take a job, but Logan's crew is full of arrogant jerks who only care about cash and don't report anything, so we were left in the dark."

"The leader this time is Luke Dixon, Logan's brother," she added, clearly frustrated.

Sophia never thought the black market thugs would go after Victoria.

"The first thing I'm doing when we get back is taking Logan down!" he growled.

He was driving like a maniac, the car already maxed out, a red blur on the road.

Meanwhile, Victoria's car had been hit a second time. Her ride, tricked out to withstand crashes and bullets, barely felt the hits.

"Luke, her car seems to be modified too; it's holding up really well," crackled a voice over Luke's walkie-talkie.

Luke, with a nasty scar on his left cheek, snarled, making the scar look even scarier. "Are you dumb? Just hit it a few more times!" he yelled into the walkie-talkie.

"I don't care if her car is modified or not. If you don't wreck it today, I'll wreck you tomorrow!" he threatened.

Hearing this, his goons got their act together.

Thalia, listening to Luke's threats, felt a twinge of worry. She had hinted to Victoria which car she was in, knowing Victoria would figure it out and not stress about her.

Victoria had always been smart and exceptional, but she learned to hide it. Growing up without her mom and with a distant dad, home never felt like home.

Victoria's journey had been full of challenges. Thalia, as an old lady, could only give Victoria limited love and couldn't provide a complete family. Just when Victoria finally found a good husband, this mess happened.

Thalia couldn't figure out who had been trying to harm her granddaughter.

The road was eerily empty, a sign that the other side had planned to lead Victoria here. Victoria checked the map and tunnel layout of Nine Heavens Tunnel that Leroy had sent her. The tunnel was three kilometers long, and after exiting, there was the Nine Heavens River. The tunnel was built over the river and was currently under maintenance.

With a loud crash, Victoria's car was hit hard on the right rear, and just a few seconds later, another crash came as the left side was struck. It seemed deliberate, hitting left then right, shaking Victoria up.

During these hits, Victoria noticed the M5376 car hadn't moved, so she guessed right. Just as the cars on both sides were about to hit her again, Victoria's black G-Wagon suddenly sped up. They ended up hitting nothing, almost crashing into each other. Luckily, they reacted fast and turned their wheels in time.

"Idiots!" Luke cursed, watching his men from the car behind. He pressed the walkie-talkie, shouting, "Chase her! Force her into the tunnel."

Several voices immediately responded, "Yes, Luke."

Meanwhile, in the helicopter, Caleb said, "Nine Heavens Tunnel has been under maintenance for the past two days. There was a truck explosion in the tunnel a few days ago, and it's still closed. What is Christopher trying to do by leading Victoria there?"

Alexander's frown deepened. He could keep tabs on Christopher, but some things just slipped through the cracks, like this mess. He'd kept Christopher around because he was useful, but now he realized he was sitting on a ticking time bomb.

Caleb and Garrett glanced at Alexander, whose usually calm and handsome face now had a deadly edge, his eyes cold as ice.

"Is Christopher planning another explosion?" Caleb asked.

Christopher was playing it smart this time; he didn't use his own crew but got others to do his dirty work. The whole Neil incident was also his doing. No matter what, it all pointed back to Christopher. This time, he was gunning straight for Victoria.

"Wait, why would Christopher be so reckless now, especially at such a crucial time?" Garrett wondered. "He's been patient for years. Why blow it now and drag someone from Ridge City into this?"

Christopher had crossed the line, pushing Alexander to his limit.

"Because Christopher thinks Victoria has uncovered the secret he thought was buried," Alexander replied.

Garrett and Caleb went silent. They'd known this secret for a while. Christopher wasn't a blood relative of the Howard family. They got it now; Christopher wanted to shut Victoria up. If he knew they all knew, would he try to take them out too? If they hadn't found him useful before, he wouldn't have had the chance to cause this chaos. It was clear they couldn't keep him around any longer.

Meanwhile, at the entrance of Nine Heavens Tunnel, there was a warning sign. Inside, workers were busy with repairs. Suddenly, screeching sounds came from outside. Before they could figure out what was happening, a loud horn blared at the tunnel entrance.

One of the workers said, "What's going on? Aren't vehicles banned? How did a car get in?"

Victoria had no choice; this road only had this tunnel. Even if they didn't force her, she had to take this path. She knew the tunnel was under repair, so there had to be people there. She honked to alert them, not wanting to hurt anyone.

The cars behind had only hit Victoria's car a few times. After that, they hadn't touched her; instead, she had tricked them into crashing into each other.

Luke hadn't expected Victoria to be such a good driver. He'd lost count of how many times he'd cursed, shouting, "Idiots! You can't even handle one woman! What's the point of you!"

But as long as Victoria entered the tunnel, Luke would have the upper hand. A sinister smile spread across his face, making his scar look even scarier. He picked up the walkie-talkie, "She's in. I want her to go in and never come out!"

The other end responded, "Got it, Luke. Watch us."

Victoria's black G-Wagon sped into the tunnel, followed closely by several black sedans. The tunnel echoed with loud, piercing sounds, the screeching of tires, and the reverberations.

Workers in the middle of the tunnel saw the cars rushing in and immediately shouted, "Get out of the way! Cars!"

At that moment, two men in worker uniforms quickly got into two maintenance vehicles and started them.

"Where are you two going?" someone shouted as they saw them get into the cars.

Then, the workers in the safety zone saw their "colleagues" driving the vehicles recklessly towards the oncoming cars. Everyone was stunned, wondering what these people were doing.

Victoria also saw the two yellow cars coming at her from the front. They were trying to trap her from both ends.
