Chapter 247 Nothing to Fear

Clara totally didn't see it coming, bumping into Victoria and her crew.

She was here 'cause she found out Lucas was around, so she tailed him.

Ever since Clara's miscarriage, the Tudors had called off the engagement. To save face, they kept it quiet, and Lucas had been ghosting her since then.

But Clara saw online that Victoria was thriving, not even a bit down after ditching the Kennedy family.

And get this, Victoria had snagged a spot in the Howard family, as Alexander's wife, which made Clara green with envy and full of spite.

Moreover, how could such a high-class family they possibly dig Victoria? But, Alexander was totally into her.

Clara was just stewing at home, clinging to Lucas for dear life. She blew off everyone else, and those she did care about, she couldn't mess with.

She was convinced Lucas still had feelings for her, he was just pissed off.

Right then, Lucas looked at Victoria, who he hadn't seen in ages, and something flickered in his eyes.

Victoria seemed way softer than before. Still had that icy vibe, but now with a hint of feminine charm, like a winter blossom, carefully nurtured and slowly warming up.

Lucas frowned, thinking about the latest gossip. At first, he thought she was just fooling around with some guy like Alexander, just being a side chick, but reality was a total plot twist.

He didn't expect Victoria and Alexander to be hitched, which made him feel all kinds of guilty whenever he saw Victoria after that. Meanwhile, Clara, the girl he liked, had been playing him, acting all sweet and generous.

Right then, Clara suddenly stepped up and clung to his arm, catching him off guard.

Clara looked at Victoria and flashed a gentle smile, saying, "Victoria, what a coincidence, Lucas is out shopping with me."

Clara looked all elegant and generous, gentle and proper, with a happy smile plastered on her face.

Victoria's eyes had a cold smile as she glanced at her, responding in a calm, indifferent tone.

Lila laughed out loud, straight-up calling out Clara's game.

Lila shot Lucas a disdainful look, her eyes full of disgust for both of them. "Cut the act. No need to put on a show. If you wanna flaunt your happiness, you've got the wrong audience. Victoria doesn't give a damn about Lucas; it's just you clinging on him. Victoria's got Alexander to protect and love her, which is way better than Lucas."

Clara's smile froze instantly.

Lucas also yanked Clara's hand away, saying coldly, "When did I say I was shopping with you?"

Clara was stunned, a wave of embarrassment crashing over her. His words were even more brutal than Lila's, like a slap in the face, making her cheeks burn.

"Lucas, I..." Clara's eyes, full of tender affection, were about to spill tears any second, looking at him with a face full of shock, hurt, and fragility.

If this had been before, Lucas might've felt bad for Clara, but after that whole mess, he realized he never really knew her, which made it tough to buy anything she said.

He could forgive her, sure, but once she betrayed him, there was no going back.

"Enough! No more talking. I already told you, I forgive you, but we're done," Lucas cut her off, his voice icy and sharp.

After that, he glanced at Victoria, hesitated for a sec, but then just turned and walked away.

He didn't give a damn how Clara called after him.

Lucas's move totally caught Lila and the others off guard.

Lila snorted, a smirk playing on her lips as she casually remarked, "Looks like Lucas's fiancée might be in for a rude awakening."

As soon as Lucas left, Clara's sweet act vanished.

She spun around, glaring at Victoria with a nasty look, her eyes cold and her face twisted. She gritted her teeth and spat, "Victoria, don't get too smug. We'll see!"

Victoria stayed cool, not even fazed by Clara's threat.

Seeing this, Clara got even more pissed, feeling like a lump of anger was stuck in her chest, unable to go up or down.

"If I can't have it, neither can you!" Clara hissed, barely holding back her rage, and stormed off.

Lila watched Clara leave, puzzled. "What's she mean by that? What's she up to now?"

Marlowe looked worried. "Victoria, you should be careful these days."

Victoria stayed calm, with some unreadable emotion in her eyes, and casually said, "She's not worth the worry."

This whole thing didn't kill their shopping vibe.

When women go shopping, they always hit up the clothing stores.

Victoria wasn't super into it, but Lila was on a mission to buy clothes, so she dragged Marlowe along to try stuff on.

Victoria plopped down on the couch in the rest area to chill.

Coincidentally, the sofa faced a glass display window, and outside was the mall's walkway. Victoria looked up at the window.

To anyone else, it seemed like she was checking out the clothes on the mannequin, but she was actually eyeing a guy in a black down jacket leaning against the railing on the opposite walkway.

This dude had been tailing them since they left the antique store.

At first, she didn't think much of it, but she kept an eye out.

Infinity Mall was huge, but every time they moved, this guy was always there. No way it was a coincidence.

Suddenly, the guy seemed to sense something and took off again.

He kept walking to the right until he was out of sight, then ducked into a nearby men's restroom and made a call. "Sir, I think she noticed me."

The other end was silent for a second, then said, "Pull back, I'll send someone else."

The guy replied, "Got it."
