Chapter 468 Setting Traps Along the Trend

Victoria had naturally overheard everything said inside the room. These revelations were completely unexpected. She had only discovered Anouk and Allan's collusion and set a trap accordingly. She never anticipated it would uncover so much more.

"Would you mind if I stay to listen, Mr. Windsor?" she asked.

Her meaning was clear—this involved her mother, so she had every right to hear the truth. Her formal way of addressing him still pained him, but he knew he had no right to expect anything else.

He sighed. "You may."

In another room, Zephyr sat in the center of the sofa. Victoria and Alexander sat on the two-seater to his right, while Jasmine occupied the sofa to his left. Everyone else remained standing.

Since being brought in, Anouk hadn't once raised her head.

Waverly was too shocked to think clearly, but she had secretly contacted someone from the Montgomery family.

Thomas had never understood what Victoria meant by "watching the show" until now. This was indeed dramatic—if exposed, it would be the scandal of the century. Utterly shocking!

Jasmine spoke first, "Mr. Windsor, I haven't told a single lie."

After addressing Zephyr, she turned toward Allan and Anouk with disgust in her eyes.

"They've been having an affair for a long time. Anouk has been using Allan's authority to handle her private matters. One thing I know is that recently, when children went missing in the Kingdom of Serenia, Allan suppressed any investigation. I don't know why, but I know she was behind it."

"And her pregnancy years ago was all part of her plan. She used it to drive away Esme. She even asked me to find someone to destroy her. I didn't go that far—I only had someone frighten Esme, nothing more."

"Then she used your name to make Esme leave, saying it was the only way to break her spirit completely."

"Afterward, she did everything possible to prevent Esme from contacting you. She bribed many people in your inner circle, making it impossible for Esme to reach you."

"As far as I know, after Esme left, she was pregnant. I saw her coming out of the obstetrics department at the hospital. When I told Anouk about this, she started sending people to secretly harm Esme's unborn child, and Esme was constantly hiding."

"Because Esme couldn't contact you or see you, she stayed in the Kingdom of Serenia, living in constant danger. When she saw the news of your marriage to Anouk, that's when she finally left."

Jasmine revealed everything she knew, one piece at a time.

With each revelation, Zephyr's expression darkened further.

During that period, his father had suddenly asked him to take over his older brother's responsibilities—it came without warning, and he was completely unprepared.

He had told Esme he would be busy, asking her to wait for him at home.

What he didn't know was that she had already had a huge fight with her mother and left the Penrose family to be with him.

So during his busy period, he thought she was still with the Penrose family. He had no idea she was alone in the Kingdom of Serenia.

He knew nothing of what happened to her during that time.

From the moment Esme left the Penrose family and entered the Kingdom of Serenia, Anouk had targeted her. She had investigated Esme's background.

To force Esme away from Zephyr, Anouk had used every trick imaginable.

Both Zephyr and Esme believed the other had betrayed them. When Zephyr later realized something was wrong and sent people to find Esme, she was already gone.

By then, he had married Anouk. Even if he found Esme, what could he do?

He had no idea she was pregnant. If he had known, he would never have agreed to his father's outrageous demand.

Suddenly, Anouk raised her head and looked at him. She asked the question that had haunted her for decades, "Zephyr, in all these years, I've never moved you. You won't even look at me. Am I really so inferior to Esme? What exactly is wrong with me?"

Anouk could never understand why things had turned out this way. She had always believed that once they were married, they would have time to develop feelings for each other. But he never gave her the chance to get close.

"It's simple. You're not the person my heart chose," he replied.

In his entire life, he had only ever loved one woman.

Anouk paused briefly, then with a wry smile said, "Zephyr Windsor, how cruel you are! But I don't regret what I did. At least I succeeded in separating you and Esme!"
