Chapter 21: Clara's Anger
Clara couldn't stand Victoria's snooty tone.
But she hadn't forgotten why she called today.
"Victoria, you're lucky you called off the wedding," Clara sneered.
Victoria replied coolly, "Even if I didn't, would you dare make it public?"
Clara's anger flared. Victoria's post about the affair had made it impossible for her and Lucas to go public with their relationship.
"You're despicable!" Clara spat, then added smugly, "But so what? As long as Lucas loves me, you'll never have his heart."
Victoria chuckled coldly, "If you're here to brag about your shamelessness, I'm hanging up."
Hearing Victoria about to hang up, Clara quickly said, "Grandpa Kennedy wants you back at the family house; he has something to tell you."
Victoria's voice turned icy, "I'm not coming back! If he has something to say, you can say it over the phone."
Clara's anger grew.
"How dare you defy Grandpa Kennedy?"
"Did you drown your brain in that pond?" Victoria sneered, "How many times have I defied him?"
Clara was livid. Mentioning the pond reminded her of that night in the hospital, making her even angrier.
"If you don't speak, I'm hanging up!"
"Wait, I'll talk." Clara hurriedly shouted.
Victoria's lips curled slightly. She smirked and thought, 'You still can't keep your cool.'
She waited silently for Clara to speak.
Clara got straight to the point.
"There are two things. First, on the 28th, you need to attend the piano exchange event hosted by the Green family. Second, Grandpa Kennedy wants you to transfer your shares in the Kennedy Group to him."
After Clara finished, she heard nothing from the other end. She thought the call had dropped, but it was still connected.
She shouted impatiently, "Answer me!"
Suddenly, Victoria's icy voice came through, "Want the shares?
"When he dies, I can generously give them to him!"
Clara was shocked by Victoria's heartlessness.
"Victoria, how can you say that? You're so heartless. It's just shares. Do you have to be so cruel?"
Victoria sneered, "'Just shares? Then why are you so eager to get them?"
Don't think she didn't know Clara wanted her shares in the Kennedy Group.
"You want to marry Lucas with the Kennedy Group's shares? Then you can comfortably be Lucas's wife, right?" Victoria retorted.
Clara felt a bit panicked, her intentions exposed by Victoria.
But she didn't plan to hide it.
Her face twisted with darkness and resentment, she said, "Everything in the Kennedy family is mine, including the position of Lucas's wife. What right do you have to hold onto the Kennedy Group's shares?"
"I have no right? And you, an illegitimate daughter of a mistress, do?" Victoria sat in her office, turned her chair to face the floor-to-ceiling window behind her, and coldly mocked.
Hearing this, Clara's eyes filled with hatred and coldness, her breathing growing heavier with anger.
"Victoria, don't be ungrateful! I've conveyed the message. If you want your reputation ruined again, keep being arrogant and stubborn!"
She could only respond with threats.
Victoria didn't care about her words.
"You think I care?" Victoria said disdainfully.
Suddenly, Victoria remembered something, and a sly smile appeared on her delicate face.
Victoria said, "Worry about yourself instead of me!"
Clara's eyelid twitched inexplicably, and she asked, "What do you mean?"
"Have you found your music sheet?" Victoria smiled and said.
Clara was silent for a moment.
Before she could retort, she heard the sound of the call being disconnected.
At the Kennedy family villa.
Clara let out an angry scream in her room.
"Victoria, you bastard, one day I'll defeat you!"
If anyone were present, they would see that the usually gentle, elegant, and gracious Clara now had a face twisted with darkness and malice, looking extremely hideous.
On the other side.
In the CEO's office of Horizon Group.
Victoria sat in her chair, her long legs crossed, one hand holding her phone by the chair, the other supporting her chin, slightly tilting her head, and looking thoughtfully out the window.
It was four in the afternoon, and although there was still sunlight outside, it wasn't glaring. The sky was adorned with a large, warm-looking sunset cloud.
Not long after, there were a few knocks on the door behind her.
"Come in!"
The person outside received permission and then pushed the door open.
Victoria turned her chair back around.
Wesley stood straight in front of the desk and said, "Ms. Kennedy, Mr. Nolan Parker from the Parker Group is here."
Victoria raised an eyebrow, "Nolan?"
"Yes."
