Chapter 220 Watching a Movie
At 6 PM, Alexander rolled up in a sleek black Maybach, cruising into the underground garage of Infinity Mall.
"Wait, are we hitting up a mall?" Victoria tilted her head, giving Alexander a curious look.
Alexander turned to her, his voice smooth and soft. "We're catching a movie."
Victoria was caught off guard, feeling a weird mix of emotions.
Sure, they’d watched movies before, but that was in the fancy movie room at Serenity Grove Manor. This was their first time hitting up an actual cinema.
She couldn’t help but worry. "Won't your status make it a hassle to go to the movies?"
Before Alexander could say anything, Dylan chimed in, "Relax, hardly anyone out there knows what Mr. Howard looks like."
Alexander was low-key, rarely showing his face in public, even though his name was big.
Alexander laced his fingers with hers, his voice a soothing whisper in her ear. "No matter who I am, I'm your husband. Isn't it normal for a husband to take his wife to a movie?"
Victoria blinked, meeting Alexander's deep, warm gaze. His eyes were full of love, so obvious it made her heart race.
She never thought she'd be someone’s favorite, especially in a way she couldn’t resist.
When she agreed to marry him, it was more about not wanting Thalia to worry. She figured she could live a quiet life and make Thalia happy.
Back then, Alexander seemed like a great guy, so she thought, 'Why not get married? I’ve never really thought about marriage anyway.'
It just felt like the right time, so she went for it. She didn’t need Alexander to take care of her, so they could live their own lives, helping each other out when needed. But Alexander’s kindness and affection made her fall for him.
People always noticed good-looking folks.
Especially when both of them were drop-dead gorgeous.
Alexander, tall and commanding in a camel coat over a casual suit, and Victoria, equally tall, matched his style with a similar coat. She rocked a white sweater, black skinny pants that showed off her long legs, and beige high-heeled ankle boots. When they got to the cinema, before the movie started, Alexander hit up the service counter for a bucket of caramel popcorn and a bottle of water.
Victoria stood by, watching him expertly order and pay. She was surprised he got caramel popcorn, her favorite.
They found a spot and sat down, waiting for the movie to start.
People around them couldn’t stop staring.
"Are they famous?"
"Even celebs don’t look that good."
Someone sneaked a pic and posted it online.
Victoria felt a bit awkward with all the attention.
She knew she was attractive. When she shopped with Lila, people stared, but never this intensely.
She glanced at Alexander, his calm and magnetic presence holding her gaze. Clearly, he was the one drawing all the attention. She sighed inwardly, thinking that Alexander being so good-looking wasn’t always a plus when going out.
"What's up?" Alexander asked, catching her staring.
"Nothing," Victoria shook her head, then leaned in and whispered, "You seem to enjoy the attention."
Alexander chuckled, a grin spreading across his face.
His smile drew gasps from the girls nearby.
"He looks so good when he smiles," one of them said.
"What should I do? I'm totally crushing on him."
"That girl is so lucky. The way he looks at her is full of love."
"They seem so happy together. I'm jealous."
Victoria looked at the striking Alexander in front of her.
A sly smile crept onto her lips, and she whispered, "Stop smiling, or we'll need security to keep the peace."
Alexander was momentarily taken aback.
They were so close that with a slight turn of his head, his lips were near her ear. His voice, low and magnetic, whispered, "Being with you is great, but being at home is even better."
What did he mean by "being at home is even better"?
For a moment, she didn't get it, but then it clicked.
Actually, she didn't want to get it, but somehow she just did.
Her face turned red and hot. Alexander was doing it on purpose, flirting with her even here.
She decided to play dumb, figuring he wouldn't know.
But then, as if on cue, Alexander said, "What are you thinking? Why are your ears red? I was talking about our alone time, without anyone bothering us. You weren't thinking of something else, were you?"
Victoria's mouth twitched.
She glared at him and said, "I'm hot." She reached to take off her scarf, but Alexander stopped her. "It's cold here, take it off when we go inside."
During the two hours they were watching the movie, photos of them at the cinema blew up online.
Netizens could dig up anything.
Soon, someone figured out who they were.
People initially liked them for their looks, but were surprised to discover their prestigious identities.
Some netizens commented:
[Not only do their looks match, but their identities match well.]
[I was there, and I thought the girl looked familiar. I just watched that academic exchange live stream recently, and it was her.]
[OMG, people with their status have home theaters, yet they come out to take our seats.]
[This is romance; this is what life is about.]
[Exactly, they're human too, living a normal couple's life, shopping, watching movies.]
[They're married. I saw both of them wearing rings.]
[I remember a live stream from the Kennedy family event, and someone called her 'Mrs. Howard.' So, they are married.]
[Now that you mention it, I remember that too.]
[So, the wife of the CEO of Vertex Holdings Group is her. They've kept it well hidden.]
Sitting in the car on standby, Dylan and Kimberly were among the many netizens caught up in the buzz.
They were scrolling on their phones when they suddenly looked up at each other.
Kimberly asked, "Should we take it down?"
Dylan thought for a moment. Usually good at handling PR stuff, he felt a rare sense of confusion.
After weighing it in his mind, he decided. "No, let's leave it."
Given Alexander's feelings for Victoria, Alexander would love to make it public but was worried about causing her trouble, so he let things take their natural course.
